Been using the germ guardian AC4825 for 3 years and i can't recommend it enough. Works 24/7, no problems whatsoever, perfect for a bedroom. By the way your voice is very soothing.

Thank you so much for the clarification of m this brand! So needed. I’m hopeful to find more videos that can help in finding the best and most affordable air purifier for the rest of my home.

5350 is 5 year warranty vs 4300 which is 3 year warranty (significant difference). 5350 also has 5 speeds and a timer vs 3 speeds/no timer. FYI for those comparing.

how does this work for killing cigarette smoke
@consumer-analysis4 жыл бұрын
Both the HEPA and carbon filter on these units will help with cigarette smoke. I made a video about air purifiers and smoke you can watch here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a3-qf4CYqrdgfZY

It is very important for me to have a uv light to kill germs. How would you know if the uv bulb is still working for AC4900?
@consumer-analysis4 жыл бұрын
According to the user manual "The UV-C light on the front of the air cleaner will turn red when it is time to replace the bulb."
@Lol36-v8r4 жыл бұрын
@@consumer-analysis oh thank you for that.

How much germ killing a UVC light does depends on how much light enegy the slug of air containing the germs is exposed to. That is the combination of the intensity of the lamp, and how long the slug of air is flowing throught the portion of ducting inside the unit exposed to the UVC. There are some other surface of the ducting factors too, but mostly it is the light intensity and time in the light. It's like sun exposure. The sun is great at killing the Covid, or at causing the human skin to make Vitamin D and Nitric Oxide, both of which enhance the body immunity to Covid, and other germs. And all of that is dependent on exposure time and strength of the sun. Frequency (alternatively wavelength) of the light is also key. UV light can be dangerous to the eyes and the skin. And some bands of it work better on different germs.

Great review , thanks to your wealth of knowledge I'm certainly leaning towards the AC4825 . Here's my problem , my wife can smell mold in our home 10 feet before walking through the door . In your opinion what product do you recommend would be best suited for that ? I look forward to hearing from you soon . Thanks

I recommend you find your source of mold instead of buying an air purifier if you can smell it 10feet before walking in

How do you rate the GermGuardian AC4200W?
@consumer-analysis4 жыл бұрын
Though I like the fact that it comes with a HEPA filter it outputs at approx. 80 CFM and so I would not recommend it for any space larger than 80 sq. ft.

Greetings, Thanks for the video. Is it very informative. I got the AC5250 not so long ago. When the UV feature is on. A blue tube inside the unit lights up. I am guessing that's the UV-C light. I know these type of lights are harmful to skin or eyes. I don't understand why is this light viewable and not concealed inside the machine? Thank you.
@consumer-analysis4 жыл бұрын
The blue light that wraps around the top and front of the unit is a separate light that only shows that the UV-C light is activated. It is not the UV-C light itself. Is that the light you're concerned about?
@Chris-xm4vw4 жыл бұрын
@@consumer-analysis Thank you for the quick response. I don't mean the light that wraps around. If you take a look inside through the mesh cover, where the air comes out, a blue long light tube is visible. This could be dangerous. I don't see any warning in the product manual. It is just strange that the UV-C light is not completely concealed to avoid exposure.
@consumer-analysis4 жыл бұрын
@@Chris-xm4vw I wasn't aware the UV-C light is actually visible and will add that information to future guides on these units. This is definitely something that a prospective buyer needs to be aware of. In your case, since you already own the unit, I would simply leave the UV-C light off at all times.

@@Chris-xm4vw UV light isn't visible to the human eye... you should take some images because that seems confusing.
@cooloutac3 жыл бұрын
@@payne7473 its visible on certain models, like the ac5000 units, especially the digital one ac5250pt. you see it through the front grill like chris has said. I just now sent mine in for warranty. If you look at amazon reviews, that unit starts emitting a burning smell. I wonder if it is due to the uv lightbulb which I changed a month ago. When I took it apart you smell the burnt plastic by the lightbulb ends. Many customers notice the smell as soon as they get it from amazon and immediately return it. I have had mine for 2 years. Thinking maybe these UV lights are not all they are cracked up to be. I also just purchased one of the update models like shown in the video. But it does not make any sense. The air blows out the sides and then gets sucked right back in through the back. All the air flow is behind it. And I'm wondering how much dust is it actually getting by just sucking back in the clean air. On one side air goes a little more to the side, but basically you feel air blowing at you from the back. Gonna return that one also. Looks cool but from an engineering stand point doesn't seem practical at all. the ac4825 is their big hit and i have had one for years still going strong. Don't really trust any of their other models. Its very common to get them and hear the fan grinding on certain speeds they are so cheaply made.

amazing video!! thanks. I have 0 ideas about purifiers, your videos are the first I've seen and learned that is detailed. ill ask to make sure. if i plan to run it for long periods of time like 8 to 24hrs, its better to get the top rated units right? since they are more energy efficient. :) you mentioned the uv light isn't effective specially for short periods, if the device is running for longer periods of time will the uv light have an effect? or its simply the filter doing its job? i plan to buy one for my parents and god son since they stay long periods at home. hope to hear from you. thanks!!
@consumer-analysis4 жыл бұрын
Yes, I advise getting a top rated unit if energy efficiency is a concern for you. In either scenario you described I don't believe a UV light will be effective. I talk more about air purifiers and UV lights here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nnjSapewaad-ebM

So the AC4825 is the winner for small air purifiers for small rooms and is pretty much the only Germ Guardian you should get. And if you have a bigger room then just get more than 1 unit
