Nice little amp. Not mega power but still does the job. Imagine a couple of old Rockford punch series 10s running at 8 ohms. The good old days

Never thought i would see a Magnat Amp on this Channel lol. These Amps are still and were very cheap back then. You can get these in Germany often used for around 10 Euros or less. Sometimes even for free. Magnat Amps are also considerd very low end and are very hated on the german hifi-forum. Nevertheless interesting video, always wondered how these cheap Magnat Amps perform in an Amp Dyno Test.

Those are old Motorola BD 250C(PNP) and 249C(NPN) Silicon. Rated for 125W, 25A. First number being the date of mfg. - 9102 = 2nd week of 1991, 9144 = 44th week of 1991. Pretty close on the estimate of 1990! Ahhhhhh, the good ole days!! Once a basshead, always a basshead. Keep the good stuff coming, Big D. Love the vids, you Big Dummy!

Thanks Florian, Great vid Big D...I am a big Euro fan, I buy mostly Helix/Brax for my current installs, Eton Steg , Micro Precision, or German Maestro speakers. I avoid Chinese when I can. Too bad so many great American brands sold out to cheap Chinese slave labor...The list of once great American brands that have sold out is too long to list...I will scour eBay for some MAGNAT gear to add to my collection of non Asian made gear....shout out to TRU, Mmats, D'Amore and Linear Power for maintaining American pride and integrity

I have one of these too, but in a seller Variation with printed acrylic front panal. Looks good. Sound ist OK, not too bad, but not realy good. The good thing about them is that for the most part they were tough and reliable. Good and cheap devices for small subwoofers.

Would love to see this recapped & new thermal paste applied to see if there is any difference.. Did you get a chance to put a set of speakers on it? These old A/B amps were mainly built with sound quality in mind than just raw output numbers..

Old school amp built with quality in mind. You should think about restoring that amp. Wouldn't be hard since it is single sided. The aluminum would look nice if it was polished.

Whuhuuu....that's a really old amp☺️ I saw sooo many rides with Magnat inside, here in Germany.....most of them whith the classic 360.....🤷‍♂️ I heard in one customer car a classic 1000 on the biggest Phonocar Thunder bandpass Subwoofer I was a bit disappointed because she was so big but not as strong as she looks🤔 Of course we were able to solve the "problem" 😬then the Thunder got the right punch😉😉😉😉 if you test it anytime, you'll definitely see why 😬 Keep it up, Big D

magnat once made a huge subwoofe called the omega 530... a 21 inch in a huge box for home use. basically as a tv shelf. saw it as a kid in a tech shopping center, impressive since it was so huge. not many sold since it was like 2k bucks and no one had space for it. that brand was allways and still is known for reasonably priced stuff that isnt the worst out there... tight budget but want a 5.1 speaker set? grab magnat (or teufel in the later days). nothing was really ever terrible, but mostly on the lower end. there was allways someone how did better for less. they are still around making stuff, at the usual consumer tech store quality that isnt great but wont make you return it immediately. Magnat had and still has a car hifi sub-company called mac audio. lowest quality crap back then and today.

Hey BigD, honest question, at 4:06 you mentioned pushing in the Mono button, I am just wondering if you also pushed in the Woofer button next to it? If you didn't, would it have made a difference if you had?
