I have the flecktern waterproof jacket and trousers set from Miltec, which is a German company. Like you said they are shiny. I do have a flecktern parka jacket which I fabsil made it waterproof. I went the next size up as German sizes are a bit smaller. Going the next size up for me fitted perfectly. I also have a German Army combat shirt, good to wear in the summer but go the next size up as it is a tight fit. Jacket and shirt made of cotton. Seen a video on someone who carried the flecktern waterproof set in a haversack. He was wearing civillian clothes, put the flecktern waterproofs over the top. He then hid in the forest trees and disappeared. When he went back into the urban environment, he just took them off. 👍🏻 🌲🌲🌲🌲. Thanks for the new video, and good to know about combination camo, I didn't think of that. 🤔👍🏻

Hi John, what really good advice that is. I also thought of the flkeck shirt but wondered if it would be too hot from May to Aug, so what I use is tucked in tea shirt to keep out ticks and stay cool in summer. I do like to hear that others use stealth by dressing in camo for woodland insertion and remove such when extracting. I must mention that after a while those of us who enjoy blending in get happily obsessed in a good way that, when we finally see someone in the woods in blue or red, we tend to see them as somewhat silly. Ha ha. I once passed two guys on an access track whilst I was in camo, with bergen for a bug out and they looked very startled.🧐

@@FlyingHaggisFilms When I first started aquiring kit, I thought I would use camo to hide, such as a camo tent/ tarp etc. My clothes would be black / olive green going from the urban environment to the woods. Or change in the woods/ and then change back after leaving the woods. I put a black nylon cover over the NI patrol pack or bergen. It disguises the camo in an urban environment and take off the bergen cover in the woods. I bought a British Army desert camo bergen cover from strike forcesupplies for £5. I then dyed it with Dylon machine dye black. It came out black as the material is cotton. I then rubbed candle wax in the cotton melted it in using a hairdryer after rubbing it all over. The cover is a British Army one designed to go over a DPM bergen in the desert. It has a locking cord on it with buckle clips. Now I can use it to walk through the town with less attention. It's the only British Army cover I know of theirs to go over the bergen. You can dye them Brown or a dark green. 👍🏻 🇬🇧 🙂

@@FlyingHaggisFilms Flecktarn jacket? Or Flecktarn Gortex jacket to match trousers? I’ve got B.A. lightweight mvp mtp jacket, mvp DPM woodland jacket, desert jacket and a MTP mvp jacket, Naval mvp Gortex foul weather jacket. Not sure I can justify a Flecktarn mvp one too

@@Yorkshiremadmick I think I'll go for gortex and cloth Flecktar jacket eventually.

Sorry Harry, I missed this! You got some genuine Flectarn! Very nice too; I do like the colour, those braces are really practical, no more of your trousers sliding down; material seems quite and stealthy too. All round good purchase and goes well with the smock 👍

Thanks Gillian, yes indeed at last a comfortable waterproof and braces, I think it is good to have kit that is simple and dependable the 'Ivarr Bergman Principle'. I am developing three main packs, a light assault 30ltr pack for summer hills, a viking 60ltR patrol pack for three day drills, and the large bergen for short winter bug out drills although the latter is unlikely due to may age and not wishing to worry family. All kits will have their own permanent devoted canteens, waterproofs, clothing, shelters and dry foods, to absolute minimum weight neatly stored for deployment, all unwanted kit will be ditched. Well that my new year resolution 😀😀😀 ATb Harry

Flying Haggis Films Bushcraft even I struggle with a large 90/110 litre Bergan! 30 litre patrol pack and 60 litre rucksack are a good size without risking injury and a very heavy pack I feel takes the enjoyment out of the adventure. It’s good you’re very organised and ‘ready to go’, Ivarr would approve.

pro-tip when buying army surplus goretex, turn it inside out, and check the seam tape is present and intact. I have seen lots with the tape ripped out (because its started to perish after a hot wash usually) That said i used some of those german goretex trousers, and they were great (100% waterproof and tough)
@FlyingHaggisFilms3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Neil 😊tapes were virgin and new a bit of luck at last. Atb. Harry
