American Chiropractor Dr. Craig Cain and German Chiropractor Kai Haselmeyer, HP are adjusting eachother.
Dr. Cain is the founder of the Kiso Method of Chiropractic.
HP Kai Haselmeyer is the founder of the Arthropraktik Method of Chiropractic.
Just in case you wonder: The sliding down the thumbs the back of the neck is a chiropractic test checking the tension changes of the suboccipital musculature. If areas of subluxation are challenged (for example with a little push) the disturbance of balance makes the tension of the muscles that run down the spine and keep the body upright change for a moment. This can be palpated best at the base of the scull.

Nice Video! I'd love it if chiros would formulate their diagnosis. What does the foot-switch do, and what's the noise the table does during the prone thrusts on Dr Cain? cheers
@chiropraxisgottingen3583
@chiropraxisgottingen3583 9 жыл бұрын
Hokum6 The table is a special chiropractic drop-table. It has different sections that can be raised (with the foot pedal) and drop down when the adjusting thrust is delivered. It makes the adjustment more comfortable for the client because the clients body does not rebound from the thrust that way. It also makes the adjustment easier in some areas. I like to use it especially for the pelvic region. The joints there are large and shaped in a unique way. Adjusting them with the aid of the drop piece is very effective and gentle. When the section drops it makes a noise. That is what you hear in the video. Hope that helps! Cheers!

Hi! That sounds like your nervous system is really confused in the moment and has a hard time to control your spine. Even though it is hard for you in the moment, don‘t become desperate. Your body is capable of rebalancing and healing this. Of course I would do my best to help your body heal, but I guess I am far away from where you life. I have patients travel to our center in Germany from all over Europe and further away, so if your parents are willing to do the trip I am there to help you out. If not, maybe you can find a good chiropractor in your area. All the best for you! Warm regards! Kai

Hallo! LG!

Its a check for tension differences and changes in the muscles below the scull as an indicator for the prsence of subluxation. If the spine subluxates at some level, the muscletension on both sides becomes uneven which can be felt right under the scull were they attach. Cheers!

+Major MajorMajor Good question! I will answer honest, even though some might not like that: The reason is that we feel 100% confident about our art and love being chiropractors! We love helping people every day with what we learned and see miracles so often that it becomes every day stuff. So why in the world would we dress up like Medical Doctors trying to fool our clients into thinking we are something different from what we actually are? Only a practcioner feeling insecure about what he does, would pretend to be something else with masquerade like that. White doctors lab coats or surgical coats dont make any sense for a chiropractor. I wouldn't advice going to one who dresses like that. Cheers!

Chiropractors dress in a variety of ways. My grandfather was a chiropractor and he wore a shirt and a tie (effectively business professional) when practising in the late 40s-70 (He did grostic). My dad is also a chiropractor (Activator) and he wears a zip up smock and then dress slacks and dress shoes. He started practising in the 70s so he is probably currently pretty old school. After my car accident I had to go to a Chiro that wasnt related to me and one wore like a polo and khakis, the second one was a lady that wore business casual. From what I can tell How a Chiro decides to dress is largely dependent on personal style and what they are comfortable with. Dr Haselmeyer...I enjoyed your video. Thank you for posting it! I was curious because Im half german and I wanted to see if Germans had a different technique than an American! Ive been to Germany twice and when people found out that my dad was a Chiro they were intrigued.

+Benhorn Sorry! I try to make it clearer. If the spine is out of alignment anywhere along its pass, the tension of the muscles that stabilize it changes. One side is under more tension than the other. These muscles that run up from the pelvis attach to the base of the scull and are very reactive in that spot. So I stroke down these muscles to feel if their tension is even on both sides (that would be normal) or uneven (that would be a sign for a problem). Easier to grasp? I know its complicated... Cheers!

why did the first guy not test the alar ligament and transverse ligament before he manipulated the cervical spine?
@chiropraxisgottingen3583
@chiropraxisgottingen3583 7 жыл бұрын
Hi! Neither the first nor the second one tested these ligaments (no reason to do so, testing the ligaments would be redundant since we are not directly effecting them to a degree that could stress them) and both did not manipulate the cervical spine. A chiropractic adjustment is not equivalent to a manipulation. The goal is not to cavitate or unblock a joint but to reset the nervous system so it regains control over the segment (and much more), also we never take the joint pass its physiological end range like it is done in a manipulation, but always stay within the natural range of the patient. Hope that helps! Cheers!

What is it you feel for with the occipital drop?
@chiropraxisgottingen3583
@chiropraxisgottingen3583 8 жыл бұрын
+snaz76 Basically for changes of tension in the spinal muscles that run from the sacrum (pelvis) up to the back of the head. If there is subluxation the tension is uneven and if you push on a vertebrae that is not functioning right the muscles react to it. Thats the basic structural explanation of it. Hope that helps! Cheers!
@snaz76
@snaz76 8 жыл бұрын
Thx :) to a degree, but does that mean, that when you touch a muscle, you get a response through the OD? I watch these KST (Koren Specific Technique) videoes, and the seem to only "stroke" the OD w/o futher touch of muscles....?
@chiropraxisgottingen3583
@chiropraxisgottingen3583 8 жыл бұрын
+snaz76 The explanation I gave you was the structural one. This is the way the OD was discovered and originally used. Some practicioners use it in a less structural and more metaphysical way. They pretty much use it as a reference point to get access to information from their subconcious mind. They teach their brain to give them a signal (drop) when they check a bodypart. Its like a response from the autonomic nervous system like an activation of sweat glands in your fingers when you slide over an area where something is wrong. Only about 2% of what our brain notices ends up in our concious awareness. Some use the OD as a way to get access to some of the 98% that is subconcious. I don't know if that makes sense to you.... It is complecated and hard to explain in a few sentences, but when you deal with the background it is less spooky than it sounds and looks. So there are different ways of using the OD. As a plain physical response of the muscles, or as a neurologic biofeedback tool. The later is probably what you have seen. Cheers!

Great but the title is wrong suggesting american chiropracitc technic compare to german chiropractic technic were both were practicing american chiropractic technics and systems: diversified, Gonstead, Drop Thompson/Pierce, kinesiology...should be american chiropractorvsgerman chiropractor, anyway good job...

drtomsteadify You got a good point there Doc. Dr. Cain is a DC and I am a german chiropractor. But I have studied most of the major american technique systems (all of what you mention and many more) and have incorporated what I learned into my method. As you have seen I don't use the methods in their original, traditional way, but just some of their concepts. So the way I apply these methods is not traditional but rather my own method which also incorporates some traditional techniques from Europe and Asia and some that I created myself (not used in the video). Dr. Cains technique system (Kiso-Method) is also his own creation incorporation different methods that are not all from the US and some unique non-force techniques on the Knee-Chest table that he developed himself over the years. What we both share is the focus on adjusting as specific as possible, using a P to A vector and adjusting in the position of greatest ease as well as our vitalistic and holistic philosophy and the love for our art. But you are perfectly correct the title you suggested would have matched better. Kind regards!

Hallo! LG!

@chiropraxisgottingen3583
@chiropraxisgottingen3583 8 жыл бұрын
+Kevin Nelson Hi Kevin! I totally agree with you regarding the million dollar roll, but.... thats not what you saw in the video! What you saw was a modified Gonstead push-pull move with a specific contact on the PSIS on one side and on the posterior sacral base on the other . The subluxation pattern in my pelvis was a PI Ilium on the right and a posteriorly rotated sacral base on the left (very common). The only joint that moved in that adjustment was (as intended) my Si-joint, I can assure you. So these were highly specific adjustments Dr. Cain did on me. As BJ said: Chiropractic is either specific or it is nothing. Cheers!

+Vartan Chakalian Hi! It was a pelvic adjustment. Since I do Yoga since 15 years some toruqe was needed to get the joint to tension, but the adjustment was mostly p to a. Sometimes the set up looks like that with very flexible people.

@chiropraxisgottingen3583
@chiropraxisgottingen3583 8 жыл бұрын
I understand it is not cheap. On the other hand, isn't your health the most important factor in your life? Without it, everything else looses its value. Its good that you do sports! Daily movemeng is an extremely inportant thing to do if you want to stay healthy. Still we as modern people all have a lot of stress. Chiropractic care helps the nervous system to release the stress that builds up. Saying it in a poetic way: It lets your inner light (your power/your energy) shine as bright as possible. Chiropractic is about reaching your maximum potential. I couldn't think of anything better to spent your money on. You are the main character, the hero in your life. Taking best care of yourself to be able to live your life to the fullest is a good choice. It's not really about the money, its about the value you put on it. I dont really understand your question regarding swayback and hollowback. I'm not familiar with these terms (dont forget I'm german...), could you be so kind and clarify that a little more? I will do my best to answer the question. Kind regards! Kai

Nein.

Andreev Andrei You must be flexible! Please don´t brake anything ;-). Just kidding! I´m sure you can get a big crack like that, but that is not an adjustment. Noise means nothing. The adjustment happens when a specific contact is placed on the subluxated (misaligned) vertebrae during the procedure. Only one bone (the one that is subluxated) needs to be moved in a very specific direction with a specific force. The side posture position is only done to isolate the joint easier. Without the hand contact exactly in the right spot with the right force and right direction, the subluxated joint won't move back to its optimal position. You will just release pressure in the fascia which can make a sound, but afterwards the spine is still subluxated (misaligned). Thats why after some relief it starts to tighten up again very quick and you can crack your back again and again every half an hour. I wish it would be so easy to self adjust, but helping the spine back into optimal alignment and taking pressure of the nervous system is quite an art. Thats why people love their chiropractors. :-) Cheers!

Andreev Andrei Doing a side stretch on the floor like in Yoga is perfect for the back. I would just recommend not to twist to forceful. If you do it gentle and it cracks - no problem, its just the release of pressure between the fascial sheets in some of the joints. But I would not recommend to make it crack intentionally by twisting with a lot of force. That could do more harm than good in the long run. Cheers!
