Hi Lew....Of course the Featherweight is lighter, it's aluminum, not steel. If all you're doing is quilt panels, you should fine, but when it comes to power and stability, your Featherweight is no match. Congratulations on your 16 Singers, I have 210 of them, and have restored and sold almost 500, to date.

I have just found a machine that I believe is this model. The serial number is G7462620. It needs some clean up and is missing the front sliding plate. You have gotten me very excited about this little gem. The one I have found has a price tag of 25 dollars in a local antique shop. I am headed back there very soon.

The model you found is a Singer 128, born on October 14, 1919, and from a relatively SMALL production group of only 20,000 machines, raising the value even more. I just bought one of these today. It's a beauty. It has an electric Singer motor; however, the cord is flat out scary ... an electrocution looking for a place to happen, also no foot pedal. Can the electric cord be replaced? It came in the same gorgeous case and I would really like to use it. Thanks! Could you tell me a little about it? Model G76341 (then 66 like they were hand tapped in).

As to rewiring, you can certainly do that, but you will want to ensure you use a wire gauge that will support about 3 amps. As far as the serial number you provided, I believe you may have left out a zero near the end, making for a serial number of, G763401. This would place your machine in 1910, with an allocation group of about 30,000 other machines. Hope this helps! All the best, Scott

I just got thIs machine. I have cleaned it up. I don't have the owners manual. Could I buy on from you? I have been looking for one but no luck. I need to know what size belt to get for this machine. I measured the broken one it is 13.? But most of the places I looked they say to get a 14.? Your machine looks so much like mine how would I know mine is a 128-3 thanks JOANIE

After looking at the vibrating shuttle and with the spool inserted. I recognized the shuttle as the object in the middle of the singer gold medallion. In the medallion, I can recognize the tensioning spring, and the spool appears in its center with the horizontal lines representing the threads wrapped around the spool. In your shuttle, the spool is not visible after being inserted. So I think the medallion represents the spool in a schematic manner. Or perhaps earlier spools had a cut out where the spool was visible. I did a quick Google search to see if others had recognized it, but alas I am not yet validated. What do you think?

Dear Eidetic: Your observations about the gold medallion (or badge mark) are good, but the shuttle displayed with the cutaway is for illustrative purposes, not the actual design feature. Singer was simply wanting to highlight the roots of earlier machines, display the long bobbin within, along with the crossed needles, twisted thread, and of course the spool at the bottom of the medallion (or badge mark). You are now validated, my friend, and alas you can move forward and enjoy a Summer of sewing. Thanks, Scott

Thank you for the video! I stumbled over a Model 128 (I think!) with the serial number G8901360 in the local thrift shop. It's the electric version, but it's missing the foot pedal. Are replacements for that part difficult to find? It came with the wooden case and key, and a few spare parts. I paid $17.50 for it... aside from a frayed electric cord, it's in beautiful condition. Do you know the current value for this one?

+Chris Kotz - What a super find..!!You are correct, your machine is a 128, born on August 1, 1921, and a rather rare one, with only 20,000 machines in the production phase - average production phase 50K-100K.Estimated value without inspecting your machine, and viewing detailed photos is difficult, but in its current condition without a foot control and frayed electrical wiring, you would be looking at a range of $100-$150. If properly restored, and mechanically solid, you could be looking at as much as $300.Search EBay for suitable foot control replacements, and make sure they are original to the machine, not clones.Enjoy your amazing treasure, and please subscribe to my channel if you have not already done so.... How do you polish the presser foot and all the other chrome? I am a kid, with a Singer Redeye, and I also can't seem to pull some parts out to clean it.

+Nathanael Laing - Hi Nathanael, I appreciate your questions, and am glad to be of help. First, when it comes to cleaning chrome plated surfaces, you want to be careful to not create too much friction rubbing, which could damage the finish. Typically, I use a Q-tip swab, with a little dab of "Turtle Wax Bug and Tar Remover," applying it in a gentle circular motion. If the chrome is also scratched, you might try some white toothpaste, and apply in the same manner as the Turtle Wax product. As to difficult parts to pull, kerosene is the best product to use, and is also safe for cleaning the machine painted surface, to include the decorative filigree, or decals. Not sure what parts you're trying to remove, but do be careful. All the best, Scott

While it may not be as long as a feather weight machine its weighs almost twice as much I think your very misleading.I have 16 singer machines.This is a very nice machine but its no feather weight
