Flecktarn is one of my favorite patterns for hunting around the Cedar forests in Northeast Kansas. It blends perfectly into the darker colors and shading of the cedar tree and the dark shadows around them. Great pattern and the reason the Germans have stuck with it so long.

Fleck tarn seems to thrive with even the smallest amount of shade drakness, ect, it makes you very, very hard to see take advantage of that. Additionally, woodland of most kinds would go very well with it. Note cover any external non covered bits with leaves or is available, maybe a none intrusive Gilly wrapping mybe cloth with flecktarn on it. My analysis is that it is my new favorite camo on top of already using it anyway. flecktarn is great

definitely up there and well made. The wait (and availability) on flecktarn pants has been brutal of late. We only got a tiny amount next to this huge lot of shirts. If you ever get a email alert for your size back in stock, Id recommend snagging them.

Flecktarn works pretty well in our Kiwi environment by the looks of it! Probably not so well on the ground (when you laid down for example), but if you weren't looking, you wouldn't have been seen. Great work!

definitely excels in NZ pine/beech/alpine forests both for colour and where there is a dense canopy - Flecktarn is pretty dark and stands out a bit in lighter environments. Best used for deep forests imo

Excellent disguise video! thank you, sir! I have subscribed to your channel and wish you the best! Watching FLECKTARN put it to the test is an absolute pleasure! In fact, using different camouflage patterns together is obviously very good and practical, because they can destroy your silhouette to the maximum extent. I think the best example is the GERMAN around 1944, these guys were fond of using different camouflage jackets and camouflage pants and sometimes even camouflage hats. They are definitely one of WWII's best examples of disguise. Obviously I'm a proponent of mixed camouflage styles, making your camouflage pattern richer is the secret to success. By the way, I prefer parka because their hoods provide excellent camouflage. And as far as disguises go, the boonie hat is my least favorite. Because their shadow will usually give you away the first time. Your FLECKTARN gloves are great! I'm glad I also have two pairs of these FLECKTARN gloves, which I use on my motorcycle rides these days.@@armyand_Outdoors

Flekatrn is good stuff. It really is. If I wasn't so into m81 woodland I would probably choose flecktarn or ATACS as my go to but flecktarn just isn't as readily accessible around here. It's very effective though. Based Pro tip, avoid multicam since everyone and every military, and every police, and every country is running it now. You want to know who the good guys are ;)

I too would like a better method of demonstrating the different types of camo out there and in different environments. I'm not a videographer but I would try different methods of demonstrating the camos, up close, 50-100 yds. away, giving a multitude of views should be able to demonstrate the winners and losers of the camo family. I use the flektarn in Northern Michigan and it works pretty good during the fall deer season. I was stationed in Germany back in the day and I have loved the pattern ever since. Keep up the good work

In my opinion 5 color Tropentarn is more effective as 5 color Flecktarn B, the Flecktarn B was introduced in 1990 and 5 Color Tropentarn in 2001 it was printed on lighter weight fabric for issue on deployments in hot weather climates, the coloration saw also a slight modification. Most people don't even know that these are two different patterns because they are very similair the 5 Color Tropentarn has in general lighter colors there is more light green ans less black and the brown is a bit orange or pinkish, and the middle green tone looks a bit greyish

Why doesn't the US military use this camo pattern????
@mardiffv.87754 ай бұрын
Money is the answer. The Army has its own Multicam > OCP, which can be used in both woodland and desert. When the Army would issue Flecktarn, it would also have to issue a desert pattern. So 2 sets of uniforms, instead of one.

@armyand_Outdoors10 ай бұрын
no hate mentioned - and no, was never hiding to the point of full obscurement - some shots there is more partial obscurement than others to see how the pattern disrupts with shadow formed over the top. This was the first vid in the series, have shuffled it up a bit more since then to have some more plain in the open shots for those of you who want to see that as well :)

@@armyand_Outdoors You might want to adjust your camera focus (if possible) to match the distance of where you're hiding, as autofocus will focus on something close and the depth of field of the camera is too short, blurring everything behind it. The human eye is so much better than a camera...
@armyand_Outdoors5 ай бұрын
@@AndrewAMartin Indeed agreed on both counts-although something thats impossible to account for apart from extra detail and limited perspective with a camera is stuff like patrolling. Moving as say a pointman, a camera does a impossibly poor job of this. The point of some of these defocused shots is too 'imitate' peripheral vision where your eyesight might only catch an object by shape or colours.

Buddy, ANY camo pattern that isn't some chinese neon color way would blend in these environments. Because you aren't testing the performance of the camo on a backdrop, you're testing how well 15,000 brambles between you and the camera works. No shit you're going to be hidden? Like wtf?
@armyand_Outdoors11 ай бұрын
Its the Hollywood effect-combat engagement distances happen well beyond what a camera will pick up and render than what the human eye can see (hence why Hollywood does everything unrealistically close-so you can see it). As I mentioned, theres not a lot of point at doing it at range or fully concealed.
@jetlui8711 ай бұрын
why so much hate? he is doing the testing in the places he has available
@yoloactual697511 ай бұрын
@@jetlui87 Why do you default to assuming that it is hateful to critique someone's inability to copy other channels effectively? Camo "test" showcases generally demonstrate the usefulness of a camo within a particular environment by using that environment as a general backdrop through which the colorway performs either poorly or effectively. Flecktarn is a very effective camo pattern when used in South Eastern mountain environments during the fall season here in the States. This video demonstrates a lack of understanding of how to actually blend into an environment, and instead does precisely what he claims to not be doing in the first couple minutes of the video, which is the use of concealment, and disappearing into a bush. OR in this particular case, entire masses of bushes.
