Of course Kroger... When your products and services are not up to par with the competition, just try to sue 'em out of business. It's the American way.

Yep, means Lidl probably scared Kroger. Maybe they thought because Lidl & Aldi entered Tesco & Sainsbury's would enter again and succeed this time, Who knows what goes on in those companies...

I went to one in Greenville SC, I was very impressed, large, attractive, simple building, clean layout. None of the hiding, multiple locations etc of your typical US chain. Also they typically have one brand name and the private label and that's it. No excessive brand comparison so it'n only takes looking at 2 labels to see which pasta sauce you want rather than 15 in a typical store. A myriad of choices doesn't mean more quality. Probably means less overhead both in the store and in the home office. The feel was similar to Trader Joes (but less kitschy) or even more so Aldi. I think these three chains would work well in a lot of neighborhoods (food deserts, more urban areas) as opposed to the giant stores with a lot of pre-prepared food etc that Kroger, Publix etc want to do.

That's a huge wine row compared to German Lidl stores. And wine is legal for 16 and older here.

I could just imagine, British brands see Aldi & Lidl doing great & they use similar methods to them and enter the US again and succeed.

Thought it was intriguing to have the 100% Private Label tag up, while she picked up Dole Pineapples. In fact, several branded items in the store, Coke, Utz, etc.

I drove for WHOLE FOODS for 14 years. The expansion was insane, we went from 35 stores in our district to 78 in 4 years. People will pay outrageous prices if you say organic & healthy.. LOL, The meats are awesome though,, We that worked there called it Whole Paycheck to shop there. They only build in wealthier neighborhoods,, Where incomes are high.

Kroger too pricey just like Publix, Trader Joe btw Trader Joe i notice your bread are expiring and you still sell it at full price and i was told by the associate the bread that expire you donate it for good cause smh. It dont make sense its just imo no offense to others unethical ,and i think some products at Aldi is costly. Hopefully Lidl will be one of my fav opening in Marietta Ga.

I agree with you about "Trader Joe's" that it's pricey but their worth it. Why? B/c most (& i mean most not all) of their Packaged foods are "Clean" ingredients not much Fillers (preservatives).

@@NannyNoot Trader jo's is owned by aldi north aldi is aldi south in america when aldi buys a buissnes most of the time they keep it the way it was thats why hoffer is austrias aldi and so on ...trader joe's products cost a bit more and they have more staff than a normal aldi aldi has 4 people at most in a shop and goes as low as just 2 to run a shop look at trader joe's and tell me how many people work there at any given time .... if you care about the people that work in the shop go to aldi or trader joe if you care only about the price lidel and aldi are very close both germans biggest discounters .
