Much respect! I'm amazed every time how much of it you understand. Satire is definitely the most blatant material for learning foreign languages. You never know what is meant the way it was said, or if is was meant in a completely different way. For a lot of things you need to know tiny details of current politics or the history.

I don‘t know if someone told you yet: It is pronounced Extra „dry“ not „three“ because of the dry humor. 3 is pronounced „dry“ in german (written in german: drei).

The Bundespräsident was uninvited by the ukraine, therefore the Bundeskanzler says he is not going to ukraine before this affront is solved. The Bundespräsident is a representative role but the oifficial role is higher than the role of the Bundeskanzler, he is responsible for the daily business. Comparing for UK Queen uninviting and begging for Johnson, that would also an affront the UK. Head of state actively uninvited (even if the role is just representative) and asking for the "sercond level".

I like you diving now into real life in Germany 😂. Foreigners always look to good on Germany. In general, it might be better to live in Germany than in many other countries, but in detail it is more like, well: not so pretty. We are good in paperworks and other senseless commons. And there are a lot of different idiots, like everywhere. Extra3 shows all that little or bigger curiosities and fails in politics and in society. As another comment says: it is a profund way learning a language through it's satire/ironie/sarcasm. You go deep into society, history and politics, instead of learning, where the next train station is. You will be prepared best, when you choose to visit Germany and you won't see only the nice surface. Good job you do!

I don't quite know the wording, but from what I understand, government officials are allowed to take family members with them on travels using government owned vehicles, provided that those family members pay the state for the drive, which Lambrechts son did in fact do. So, just legally speaking, there was nothing wrong with it and they followed all required procedures. It is, however, not at all a good look.

Thanks for adding that info! And all in all, this is a much worse look on the comedy show that left out crucial information to make a politician look bad, than it is on Frau Lambrecht for doing something she's absolutely allowed to do. The only thing I could find about the hair saloon visits is "anonymous sources", and after that "let's not mention that she didn't break any rules there" I'm even more skeptical than before. That accusation fits the standard Stammtisch cliche about a female minister of defense a bit too well.

@julia i have parents who worked for the bundeswehr the translation dont tells it all but the joke was about that she seems to be unaware how many civillians aswel as pilotes died in incidents from the bundesluftwaffe so it was very dangerous to do so

I teach Ukrainian primary students German and I actually applied via an organisation so I get less money as they do the bureaucracy for me and I just have to tell them the hours I worked and sign the lessons. I keep debating on doing it myself (as I would not have to travel 1 hour to that school and would earn more) but I would need to do a ton of paperwork more each month, plus phone calls etc.. Now I "only" need to fill in 3- 4 pages per child each month. I teach 18 children.. so yeah end of the month is fun for me

@@sollte1239 Yes, I'm teaching at 3 different schools. You need to fill out the forms as, like the other teacher said, it otherwise would be illegal, as I'm taking them out of the classroom and giving them private lessons in a separate classroom. The classes are paid over the Bildungs- und Teilhabe Paket. Therefore you need to proof that you were there to teach them and that they attended and what they have learned in each lesson. That is the paperwork you need to do each month, which is ok as it is the same forms you need to fill out. As I am not a teacher at their school. If I would do it myself it would be more work as I would have to fill out all the forms stated in the video plus a type of essay about my lessons and strategies etc.. After their approval I would additionally need to contact the school myself and then I would need to fill out an even bigger form with the school and the students parents each half term (which now someone does for me). So yeah lots paperwork I hate doing

The helicopter flight is a made up affair. She / her son paid for the flights. Way less than a for a private flight but there is no valid argument that this was illegal or the billing was to low. The helicoper was flying anyway. She took her son with her and he paid. The criticism is about the lack of political sensitivity. So people got mad that she used actually she is permitted to do.

hey! as you’re currently exploring German comedy and have looked at some German music in the past, I think you might want to give ‘Alligatoah’ a try. he’s a German rapper and singer and most of his songs in some way criticize society in a very humorous and satirical way. you might not understand everything as he obviously works a lot with literal devices that might be hard to translate, but his music is pretty amazing so I think it’s probably worth a try :)

"Extra 3" is first class German satire. But it really isn't easy to understand for foreigners not living in Germany. There's a lot of gems to find in foreign affairs for you. :) Also, I noticed a few short but funny phrases have not been translated, which is a bit sad. "...because she had to go to the hairdresser."
