Hi Anja. On difficult words like 14- vierzehn, it would be helpful if you broke it down so I could really understand. I’m hard of hearing ( and it takes me a little longer to get it right). I do want to thank you for teaching German to people.

Why is the "ig" sometimes pronounced "ik" and sometimes "eesh"? Which is the correct way? For example, I usually hear 20 pronounced with the "eesh" sound at the end. But in books, it says the correct way is "ik". Thanks!

She pronounces it the same as sex (she said "misspell" and not "mispronounce"). However the most common pronunciation (based only on my experience with german lessons) is like a Z in english. In fact if i had not seen her videos i would have said that pronouncing it like she did was wrong. It must be a regional thing.

Hi Anja, Could you please do us a numbers video where you 'randomly' say numbers in German and allow us time to think what the numbers are -- ie vierundfunfzig ____Time allowed_____45. I think with your native accent it will help us learn a quick thinking listening skill with the numbers as they all sound the same when spoken in German at the real pace they are spoken at. Ive found music is really helping me with German. For a few German songs which great when it comes to numbers search on youtube for 1/ This is Deutsch - Eisbrecher Lyrics and English Translation " ( a fun song which counts up to 8) .. 2/ RAMMSTEIN "Sonne" English Lyrics " (which counts to 8) 3/ LaFee - Ring Frei/Fight (English translation) . that song has an easy chorus which counts to 3 and which is fun to sing along with.
