A nice couple of 'rules of thumb' If an adjective has a definite article before it the ending can only be -e or -en. A preceded adjective in the plural (i.e with die(N&A),den(D),der(G), or kein, mein, etc) always ends in -en.

These quizes are wonderful. They make you think. I have a question Jenny. I am confused about Student and Studenten. I know Studenten is pleural, but can it also be singular? Why didn't question 36 say, "Der Professor hat dem verzweifelten Studen geholfen"? Since the sentence uses "dem," it must be referring to a single student. But why Studenten? Can Studenten also be singular?

It seems to me that old English (Beowulf)has a closer relationship to modern German. The German sentence structure is of the old English format.
@lingoniGERMAN7 жыл бұрын
I didn't know that. Very interesting :)
@Dra60oN7 жыл бұрын
Yes old English is similiar to the German, since Saxons lived in the north of todays Germany and Denmark. English was changed due to the Norman/Viking invasions dramatically.

Jenny could you please make a video on how to use "about" in german? Like in we need to talk about your future, name one bad thing about Merkel, there are so many things I like about Hong Kong, I could've never suspected something like that about him etc... I've seen people use über, von, um and an, and i have no ahnung when to use which one.
@lingoniGERMAN7 жыл бұрын
it's not the preposition that you need to pay attention to but the verb you are using. There are verbs with prepositions (I already made a few videos on this topic) which you need to memorize. i.e.: Ich rede über den Film. (I'm talking about the movie.) = reden über Was hältst du von Angela Merkel. (What do you think about AM.) = halten von Das hätte ich niemals von ihm erwartet. (I would never have expected that of him.) = erwarten von

This is my experience.....learn 10 new objects a day. Carry around a small notebook 📒 y write 10 words down daily thru your life. Ex. Chair, desk, family, world, y things of interest pertaining to your own life. That's 30 per month. It ads up. I can get thru 7 languages in reading. I know not your gender. Men are better with numbers, y woman better with letters. Shalom y God bless you.

Hello, I'm confused with one example #43: "Ich habe mit einem neuen Kunden telefoniert." Kunden is plural, and singular form is Kunde. "Kunde" should have been used as the Unbestimmt Dat. form dictates if the guy was talking to one of its customer, shouldn't it be?
@lingoniGERMAN7 жыл бұрын
The rule that applies here is N-Deklination (a declination for a number of masculine nouns) Kunden in this sentence is singular
