I went to a German friends for dinner tonight (New Years Eve) and we had Raclette for dinner. It was a completely new experience for me being English. It was wonderful, and then I came across your channel that explained it succinctly. A perfect end to a perfect evening, thank you Marta. Oh! by the way, for the first time in my life I subscribed to a channel. All best to you and yours, and I wish you success.

Thank you for another great post. My husband is Swiss and we made some changes to our racellette this year. I added additional foods - and like you said he wasn’t too happy about it but he isn’t the only person eating LOL I also love your idea of a dessert of pancake and chocolate!

Thank you so much for this information. I have seen news stories about raclette, but I didn't realize it was a thing for home Christmas and New Year's Eve parties before your videos. And I certainly didn't realize the distinction between a German party and a Swiss party. Looking forward to trying this--especially the German adaptation.
@cooking-the-world3 жыл бұрын
I am glad I could clarify those things for you :) Yes, we love our Reclette Partys at Christmas or NYE. I bet 80% Germans will celebrate the New Years Eve this way this year. I hope you also made delicious plans :) Thanks for watching.

That looks so delicious Marta, but very different to the "Sivester Fier" I know. We have Kartoffelsalat, bockwürst and Gerhkins with Berliner pfannkuchen to follow. I sent the link to my German family and the youngest Nichte (37) said they have that equipment and have raclette. I suppose I'm just old old and should slink away into the shadows and bide my peace. Happy Silvester Marta.
@cooking-the-world3 жыл бұрын
Oh Jim, you are not too old to eat, trust me :) I am sure that you can find raclette anywhere in the world and enjoy indoor grilling.If you want you will make it work. And yes, it is very popular, I bet this year, 80% of Germans will be indoor grilling for NYE. But to be honest, I would also gladly have Bockwurst and Kartoffelsalat 😍

But then it's not a Raclette. Raclette is only the name of the cheese. If i make Pizza on this grill, it's also not called raclette.

I found you about a month ago and have viewed most all of your videos. I grew up in Germany in my early years before returning to US. My family adored German food except sauerkraut. I’m the only one that can eat it out of a can. My husband spend time there in the Army. He has two adult children there and we visited in the fall of 2007. They usually come here. We were supposed to go last May but countries were closed. We are trying again this April. After watching your videos I believe my husband and I like the Bavarian style better. We will be in Hesse for 2 weeks and Essen for two weeks. Got any suggestions where to eat at. I like pork and he likes beef.

You do realise that you’re being racist when you say “Gypsy Pan!” Our correct name is Roma, not Gypsy, that’s what the Gago would call us, Gago is like a white man, the other people, not Roma. You! So please stop being racist! *update* I realise you’re not being racist. Some people are still racist towards the Roma people. I like the word “Gypsy”, I just don’t like how some people use that word, maybe I’m being too sensitive? I enjoy watching your videos.
