It's wrong to say that Muslims are poorly portrayed because if a character of a movie is bad doesn't mean his whole religion is bad. In India, the media loves to make a controversy over everything. That is why some media report says like that. Here, Allaudin Khilji was a real person in history who laid seige on indain empires and raped captured women. It was said that Khiljis were so thirsty of flesh, that they would not spare the corpse of women which the Rajput women knew and they chose to not let that happen by letting fire not leave even her corpse. They chose honour. I did not see any wrong here. We should also look at the period which this incident belongs. That place where women commited 'jauhar' still can be found in Rajasthan in India. The story was kept alive orally through tales and poem. Hope it clears some misunderstanding. I love your smile btw😄

Thank you for a unique reaction.......that was pretty good ! The only thing I would like to mention here is about your comment about" Muslims being shown in a poor light" in the movie!! A bit of a clarification is required here........ This particular character of Allauddin Khilji is a real person ....from history who ruled over a vast empire in India in the 14th century! He was a powerful ruler who defended India against the Mongolian invasions and administered his kingdom with a strong hand. His personal life and conduct was something else though. History sees him as a cruel ,vicious person and a possible sexual deviant! The movie does not generalize about Muslims in a negative fashion, rather one character who happens to be a Muslim is portrayed negatively here!!

Smita Sharma yes this movie was banned in Kuwait and Malaysia showing muslims as negative light but the fact is not a single group of Muslims protest on it only rajput community karni sena did but when i studied history of Alauddin khilji in real life he was not cruel , barbaric and lustful as shown in movie what i read about him that he was honest, humble and kind but only thing is that his dream was to become second Alexander so he was never interested in women he was power hungry

To add to your comments sir, Sanjay Leela Bhansali worked on his script with a panel of historians ;the Censor Board of Films also had it vetted thoroughly! It was an extremely sensitive topic and had Khilji been really misrepresented, please trust me that there would have been massive religious riots and carnage . We have all studied medieval history in schools and colleges and all sources over the last seven centuries ,confirm the fact that Malik Kafur was a real person and his relationship with Khilji was very well known!! Anyway, notwithstanding Khilji's sexual preferences, his character in the movie was extremely charismatic and was the highlight of the film!! We all adored Khilji ! Malaysia and Kuwait have no clue about India's history and banned it without giving it much thought. The movie was NEVER AGAINST ISLAM..........and has done extremely well in ALL the Islamic states.

They chose it for themselves and on top of it, it was something in the history not 21st century that we can criticize it. People at that time had different mentality, nothing to get offended about. This Movie is based on true events the producer Sanjay Leela bhansali has decided to make this around 10 years ago but couldn't make it.The real cast could have been better bcoz the main lead Rani Padmavat is so beautiful.So to keep in mind Aishwarya Rai was choosen for the Character and Salman Khan & shahrukh Khan also in the lead.but due to break up with Aishwarya Salman.the cast did not feature in this film after so many years Deelika, ranveer and Shahid is selected for this film...

Mind you, this movie is based on a poem by a Muslim. 'Padmavati' isn't even a historical person. No evidence for any such person exists besides a poem which happened to be written by a Muslim 200 years AFTER the time of Alauddin Khilji. Make no mistake though, the real life Allauddin was a master at warfare however he was definitely a tyrant that killed his own uncle for the throne.
