That reminds me of one of our online German lessons where my colleague had trouble pronouncing "zwischen". I'm not sure how to correctly reproduce what she said, but something like "zwis" with "z" as "s" in "sie", plus "chen" like "ch" in Kirche 😅 Our teacher had no idea what she meant, but all the students got it 😂

Mach los! is absolutely common form of "hurry up"... Like "Mach los, wir haben nicht den ganzen Tag Zeit." -"Hurry up, we don't have the whole day time (to waste)"

Definitely not among fellow Germans I know. Maybe in a specific colloquial / dialectal context though.

2:51 So this is similar to how one should pronounce (angel) engEl; the 'E' affectively disappears and the 'g' is very soft.

I find the ü and ö to be particularly troublesome in their pronunciation. Does anyone know if Dave has a video on this to help my pronunciation?

Hallo :) Sehr interessantes Videos wie immer. Danke schön. Mein größtes Problem mit der Aussprache ist der Laut am Ende von „lustig“, insbesondere wenn das Wort auch einen /sch/-Laut enthält...

Just remember that it's a cat hissing, and that will get you much closer. Although, in other parts of the German speaking world, such as the Black Forest, or Austria, they pronounce the "ig" suffix as more like an English "g" or soft "k" sound, like "lustik," or "wichtik," so if you defaulted to that, you would be more correct than the "sh" sound.

@@devenscience8894 Thank you very much for your reply. I can actually pronounce it quite well but it's hard not to get my tongue in a knot when both sounds occur in the same word or close together in the sentence🙃

@@devenscience8894 I'm not a native German speaker but for me I find it easier to pronounce the ig suffix like a hissing cat funny enough even though I'm a native English speaker, I guess it's perhaps the Dutch or Afrikaans influence.
