Hello guys, welcome to my channel and to my first time reaction to Reservoir Dogs from 1992. Today we're looking at Quentin Tarantino's first movie, the only one made by him I haven't seen yet. My twitter: / anguslb

I saw a theory that said the 4 main characters represent 4 stereotypes of criminals; Mr. White is the experienced, old-fashioned criminal with a soft spot Mr. Orange is the undercover cop Mr. Blonde is the psycho criminal who enjoys torture and seeing others suffer on the job And Mr. Pink is the professional and more suitable criminal, who doesn't trust anyone and just focuses on doing the job and cares more about the bounty than the actual partners. Also, the first scene tells exactly how our characters act. Mr. White offers advice to the younger ones, Mr. Orange tries to blend in and answers questions that were not for him, and Mr. Pink doesn't even trust the waitress. Also, i'm pretty sure Tarantino confirmed Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood are set in the same timeline and Mr. Blonde is related to Vincent Vega. And theoretically, Kill Bill is a movie within that timeline. It's complicated.

I'd like to see a reaction to Inglorius Basterds, especially your take on the whole "catching the enemy agent speaking German with the wrong dialect" issue.

I've seen it before, so I don't know how entertaining it would be. 🤔 I might rewatch it one day though.

In the opening scene at the restaurant, we find out that Mr. Orange is a snitch. When Joe asks questions which should be answered by Mr. Pink, Mr. Orange answers them. Joe eventually tells him to shut up. This is the kind of thing that accounts for Joe's uncertainty about him. There is always something to be learned in Tarantino's extended dialog scenes. The viewer may not realize it at the time, but he doesn't do it just to show how good he is at writing natural-sounding dialog, although he does give himself a bunch of useless dialogue to chew in this, his first film. Have you seen "True Romance" which was written by Tarantino but not directed by him?

Vic Vaga is the brother of Vincent Vaga.

Oh nice, didn't know that, thought it was just a coincidence or Tarantino just liked the surname. ^^

This was the second Tarantino film I ever saw, he always assembles great casts on his projects. Have you seen the Harvey Keitel film "Bad Lieutenant"? It would be interesting to see you compare it with the Werner Herzog version haha.
@AngusSees3 жыл бұрын
Haven't seen it, but heard many good things about it. Also heard many bad things about the Herzog one. xD
@Jay_The_Cat3 жыл бұрын
@@AngusSees Aside from both featuring the titular "Bad Lieutenant" as the main character... they're very different films as you might expect. I definitely wouldn't say the Herzog one is bad at all, it's just very... Herzog? Make of that what you will haha.

@@Jay_The_Cat I have to admit, I'm not very familiar with Herzog's newer movies. Most of what I've seen from him is the stuff with Klaus Kinski from the 70s and 80s. But yeah, Herzog is definitely a special one.
@Jay_The_Cat3 жыл бұрын
@@AngusSees Yes... Herzog and Kinski. What a pair. 😐 In one of their many off-set arguments they were surrounded by native tribespeople who were terrified - not because Kinski was literally foaming at the mouth with rage - but because Herzog was so calm and silent. At one point I think the tribespeople even offered to kill Kinski, telling Herzog "That man is clearly evil, you must let us kill him for you." Given all the stuff about his conduct that later came to light, it seems the natives were good judges of character.

@@Jay_The_Cat Yeah, I know. Watched "Mein liebster Feind" and read a lot about their relationship. Although that documentary is told by Herzog and it's apparently not 100% true, so I don't know how much of this really happened.

Are there any other Tarantino movies you haven't seen? My favorites are Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill V.1 and V.2, and Inglourious Basterds (which I see in the comments you've seen).
@AngusSees2 жыл бұрын
The only one I haven't seen, after watching Reservoir Dogs here, is Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. And I guess I'll also do a reaction to this one in the future. As I said in the introduction, I'm not a big Tarantino fan, but the one that I enjoyed most is probably Pulp Fiction.

You're not playing the dialogue loud enough to hear.
@AngusSees3 жыл бұрын
The problem here is that the movie had big differences in volume, depending on the scene. I think you can understand most of the dialogues, but there are some that are a bit too quiet, that's true. Hadn't had the time to adjust the volume for every scene individually. Sorry if you can't hear it good enough, only thing I can recommend is to turn up the volume in these scenes. 😕

it would be a lot more better if the voices of characters could be heard too. just sayin

Yes, I know that's a problem, I will probably reupload the video with readjusted sound.

Tarantino is pretty good, but after watching the hateful 8 I realized that he’s been making the same movie for 30 years. It’s a great film, don’t get me wrong, but I think that Paul Thomas Anderson is a superior film maker, probably America’s greatest living director. You should do a reaction to magnolia, my personal favorite film. Sooooo good.

Ah, thanks for the recommendation, I've heard of the movie, but never got around to see it. Will put it on the list. 👍

Not loud enough, especially in contrast to your voice volume.

@@AngusSees I understand that, but your voice is so much louder than the movie. I would suggest raising the volume to match yours the best you can.
@AngusSees3 жыл бұрын
@@the.shotgun.approach The problem with that is, that there are also parts in the movie that are much louder than the rest, so if the quiet dialogues are normal, those scenes are very loud then. And in some of those scenes I'm saying something, and you wouldn't understand that then. As I said, the solution would be to adjust the volume for every scene individually, I just didn't have the time for that. I will try to avoid this in the future. Normally, I don't have these problems.

This script is 100% stolen from a movie called 'A city on fire' a hong kong film from back in the day. but still it got Mr T on his feet as a director so good for him.
