I love that Romantic Organs differ from country to country in France the Cavaille Coll Organs Are Powerful, Loud and bright. Where as German Organs are more mellow and soft.

It fills me with great satisfaction, that so close to the end of my life I have experienced the sounds of many beautiful organs. Balint is a first class demonstrator of the capabilities of these precious instruments. I watched several of his videos about organ sound demonstrations and each was a thrill to listen to. Wonderful!

Absolutely stunning! German romantic-style instruments seem to be a blind spot in organ appreciation here in America and I can think of very few examples constructed in this style on this continent. And such a pity since they seem more flexible and better suited to a wide range of repertoire than our American Classic or symphonic styles. Listening to your videos here, the Liszt Academy, and even the original Walcker stops in Methuen has been eye opening. Like discovering a whole new world of color and refinement. Thank you!

I enjoyed your Reger transcription. Bach's Chromatic Fantasia and Fugue is a great piece, even on a very Romantic organ :) Of the few versions I have on organ of BWV 903 I like your pacing. The organ is interesting, and it has a sound that is in it's place firmly in the canon of many important organ works. Thanks for making this video and sharing it Balint.

@@thebog11 Indeed, but the scales vary widely, from strings to Flute ! There is one flutey in the Dalstein& Härpfer organ in Hayange (F), this one without tierce rank. You may also encounter conical pipes.

So many beautiful and colorful stops. But the Full Organ is disappointing; "flabby." Guess I prefer Klais and Kuhn. 😊
@thebog114 жыл бұрын
Do you mean that it is not bright enough? Assuming that I'm reading the stoplist correctly, which is on the church's website (and is in Hungarian), there is no pitch on this organ higher than 1'. (The Great mixture is four ranks and begins at "2 2/4", which I assume is a typo for 2 2/3.) Do you mean that the full chorus is not "fiery" enough? There seem to be only two manual reeds, a trumpet which is shared by the Great and Positiv, and the Swell oboe. Strange that there is no clarinet on the Positiv. Do you mean the sound is not full enough? This is harder to quantify, but given the sheer number of unison stops on the manuals (14 including the celeste), it seems hard to believe that it could be this! Not trying to shame you for your opinion, just curious.
