I had a great opportunity to adopt/rescue a Malinois cross. She is one of the best dogs I've ever had and I've had over my lifetime (I'm in my mid 70s) some amazing dogs.

Interesting. I rescued a pregnant Malinois coming home from work one night. No collar and was severely underweight. I stopped counting how many ticks I pulled from her. I named her Sadie as she seemed to like that name and of course, wondered how close I was to her original name. I too am in my seventies and have had dogs all my life. To say she is unlike any dog I've ever had would be an understatement. She is magic, pure and simple.

While it is true that working line german shepherds are absolute machines, belgian malinois is a whole another level. If we compare top working gsd vs top working belgian malinois, malinois is much more high energy, athletic. Overall, malinois are gsd on crack

@@raftaar3587 not really, all the Malinois has on the working line Gsd is agility. And the Gsd still has outstanding agility itself, being the 5th most agile dog in the world according to studies. They are relatively the same speed believe it or not. And the Gsd is smarter. Plus the Gsd is tougher, and more collected, they are better at making decisions and staying calm in certain situations. Gsd’s take the time to observe and analyze. Gsd’ are no doubt tougher in bite force and strength all together.

Also l believe the German Shepherd is a very nice family dog as well. My first dog l had as a young boy growing up was a German Shepherd called Terry Hobo a very nice lovely wonderful dog.

I have a 7 year old German shepard and a 3 year old Belgian Malinois.. The Malinois weighs 20 lbs more.. They get into “tiffs” periodically and the shepard always wins. Also the shepard can go 15 + miles on horseback with me while the malinois cannot make 2 miles. Both are equally accepted by young and old alike in the family and both are well socialized.

Not said to offend you, but if your Mal can only go 2 miles, there is something wrong. Have you had him/her thoroughly checked? Both of mine run many miles a day and can go on 20 mile rides easily, with lots left over. And again, not to offend, but, it is "shepherd," as in "herd," not "ard."

Nah mals are true tanks, ask any military or K-9 unit. They use mals over gsd for a reason. I’ve also owned both breeds and my gsd weighed a lot more but my mal is way stronger, His teeth are insane and he can climb over 5 foot fences with no problem. Would feel safe with both breeds but mals have sharper teeth and are faster than any dog. Best army dogs around

Mira bien las líneas de trabajo de los alemanes. tuve uno que con 44 kg apartaba a mastines del camino de pastoreo sin pelear, perros de 75kg+, no había rival, era una pasada.

Where did you get the info that that Mal ranks 14 th in intelligence? Please quote your source. More recent sources than this video rank them at number one, and I have 2 Mals and can attest to that, having rescued/owned/lived with over 40 dogs from giant [200 pound Filas] to toys [Yorkies] and pretty much everything else, including Dobies, GSDs, etc. Nothing, in my experience, has compared to the intensity, intelligence and loyalty of the Malenois. Not even close. And, they are excellent with children if trained correctly.

Both the German Shepherd and the Belgium shepherd are suitable for family long as the Belgian shepherd is well trained and you give it the focus mentally and exercise. Well it can do well in the family unit this also goes for the German Shepherd. I wouldn’t recommend either for a first time owner. I have a year old Belgium female and she keeps me busy, and I also know a few German, shepherds, male and female, if you can reach what the dog needs, you should have a good balance dog 😊

Mals are actually really Intelligent I’ve even read that they have been found to be the most intelligent dog in a study of 13 different breeds. Scientists assessed 1,000 dogs by setting them seven cognitive and three behavioural tasks and mals were the top breed They can also identify human gestures better than any other breed. It sucks that people aren’t aware of this

Sorry, I do not agree Sir, the Poodle is Nu 1# Shepherd Nu#3 - The flavor of the Month, because of the Malinois new popularity. I had both, 2 Shepherds and 3 Malinois, hand down the Shepherds win. Also had 2 Bassett's and a Cocker Spaniel. Only the Cocker and Shepherds were truly concerned about every thing. The cocker was not too smart, but I loved all. I was a Police and Deputy and Military.

To me, a strong, big german shepherd with healthy orthopaedics from a working line will always be my favourite. That said, i find show line german shepherds quite useless. But the difference between mals and gsd is just your own personal taste. I found mals always like gsd on meth, very difficult to not bite things without a lot of negative reinforcment. Germans are more calm and stable on average. But both magnificent dogs. There's a reason why 99.9% of all military and police units use just three breeds, the german shepherd, the malinois and the dutch herder.

Its not completely clear cut like this video. There are still individual differences. There are some Malinois that shred dramatically difference that others. Not mentioned in this video, I found our gsd to be more "vocal" with emotions than the mal. Our mal is generally quieter, but has the ability to go to 11 if needed.
