The wood handle screwdriver set is a striking set as well. It has a metal rod that sits flush with the wood...not sure I'd want to use it as a striking driver but it is. Felo's precision screwdrivers suffer the same as these do when it comes to wearing the writing off, it just comes off with use. I like the Ergo a lot, it doesn't have a striking cap but it is available with and without hex bolster. The 206 and the 550 have the nut and the striking cap added to the shaft, the shaft is the same in the handle as you see after the hex bolster up to the tip.

Great info I have been thinking about buying Felo's ppc screwdrivers for automotive work for some time now. Wish the metal caps had the screwdriver size on them.

Yeah they would probably need to stamp them with the size, otherwise it would wear off pretty quickly.

I have the Gedore version, which I picked up super cheap. Really like them, they are significantly beefier than Wera, Wiha and Felo stainless sets I have, probably double in weight. In fact, even the Gedore nut drivers are much, much heavier than one would expect.

There's a UK chain called 'Halfords' that is akin to O'Reilly/Napa, etc and they have their own line of tools. I was in a store this week and noticed their screwdrivers are 'Germany'. I got a number of 250mm ones and they were just €6 each (they were not discounted/on sale). www.halfords.com/workshop-tools/tools/hand-tools/halfords-advanced-8-piece-screwdriver-set Handles are tactile and rubbery. Halfords offers a 'Lifetime Warranty' albeit 'with exclusions'

I have these screwdrivers and the writing on the handle rubbed off quite quickly without using any cleaning agent, including water. They're good screwdrivers but the markings on the handle are not so good.

Excellent review. I am currently looking for a new set of screwdrivers, and tamperproof Torx drivers. I am not thrilled about my current set of Stahlwille screwdrivers, and the Hazet seem to have a similar oblong shaped handle. I think I would prefer something that has a symmetrical handle similar to what you have shown here or something in the Wera brand. What are the pros and cons of wooden handle drivers, and what are your thoughts on stainless screwdrivers if they will mostly be used on non stainless fasteners? I saw your review of the stainless Wera drivers, and got the impression they are your favorite overall. It almost seems there is a lot of focus being placed on the screwdriver handle, and not so much on the tip in relation to how well it engages and prevents cam-out. What would you consider the ultimate set of screwdrivers for German car repair?

The Wera and Felo handle shapes feel very similar to me. The biggest difference between the two is the Wera has both hard and soft surfaces while the Felo does not. You can certainly use stainless fasteners on non-stainless fasteners, but if you were in a shop where cross contamination mattered then you might have issues with transferring material from one type of metal to another via magnetic shavings or rust. I don't really see any cons so far with the wooden-handled drivers. As terms of the ultimate set, if you on a budget, then the Felo Wooden-handled versions are a good choice. If you have more to spend then you may want to look at some of the Wera laser-tips, which will generally run about twice the price of the Felo set, but will last longer.

Will do. Thanks fro the reply. Curious, but it seems many of the screwdriver reviews show them arriving loose in a box. For our shop we would need them laid out in a tray for organization and tool control. A tool that is missing becomes quickly evident. Being a German car repair shop has gotten us accustomed to seeing screwdrivers, wrenches etc sold in their trays. Maybe it's a mechanic thing???

is there electrical continuity between the cap and the shaft? I have yet to find one that is electrically separated.

Love those striking cap srewdrivers fore HD work. Maybe the translation for the handle material is wrong? Felo uses PP and no PPC. www.felo.com/en/catalog/series/s206/

Could be, but every site I've been to lists them as PPC. I would think pure PP would be a little too soft for a handle.
