HDPE does react with hydrocarbons. They can get through. Which are found in all oils that contain a solvent.

I have used several of the red Pressol 125 mL cans. The pumps on mine are plastic but stay primed for weeks.

I did a bit of digging around and the pressol #2 oiler is the one for the ballistol, pump is of plastic nature and doesn't leave the can, ordered one yesterday along with some ballistol, looking forward to using it now ;-)

Cool, yeah I did see that the old Pressol #2 designed is advertised as not having any brass components. So it might be specifically for alkaline oils such as Ballistol.

Matt im pretty sure yes because I was looking at the website and there was an offer on with that oiler plus a bottle of ballistol oil, I can't see any issues,

That ball bearing is a pivot point for the pump handle, will take a very long time to wear down, (the handle will probably go before it.

Balistol was made to remove Metals from rifle/gun barrels; so it dissolves bass. You can find oilers with all parts made from steel for that.

Thanks, lesson learned. I would think that they would include that on the bottle but I checked and no warning for brass. I did flush out the oiler and it only looks like it tarnished the brass so it should be OK with another oil.

Depends on, witch form of bottle/can you by. I think on the glass bottles it is mentioned, et least in the flyer that is in the cardboard box the glass bottles are sometimes sold in. And on every package is some hint for removing lead and tombac from barrels. Tombak is a copper alloy. Maybe you find a glass bottle. I find them nice to take them on a trip, and refill it from a 1l can.

In my case, the aluminium spout is screwed in the nut instead of pressing.

How has your oiler turned out after removing and cleaning out all the Ballistol oil? Is it stained anymore? Did it hurt any of the internals? Did ya find any quality oiler to hold your Ballistol oil? Cause I'm trying to find oiler to put that oil in my self since the can or it comes in isn't very easy to use, and the spray pump that screws on atomiser doesn't really work well either. Let me know the results, I just ordered Resilang Oilers (Swiss/German?) to try out also but I think it would be the same almost as the Preasol oiler. Also can you your Hazet/Pressol oil be used upside down?

I rinsed it out and put some 3-in-1 oil in it and it is working just fine. All it really did was tarnish the brass pieces. I think the Pressol #2 oiler is all steel but I would need to check. You can use it upside if you prime it first, which will fill that lower mechanism with oil. You would need to prime it again to keep using it upside after that tube is used up.

German Tool Reviews I looked at the industrial version at KC Tools and it has brass also (identical except the HDPE is Cast Aluminum)

that oiler is probably for petroleum based oil, or at lest not one mildly alkaline like Balistol.

Yup, I messed up, already replaced it with another lubricating oil.
