If anyone is wondering about its armament, the K130s come with: - 2x21 RIM-116C RAM point defense missiles (~15km range) - 2x2 RBS 15 Mk. In reality this warship class has been a problem and organisational disaster . It is a failure from start to finish. Not fit for a peer adversary .

But armament of 7000+ tons German F-125 is almost the same as this corvette 😂

The F-125 class was deliberately developed to serve for very long period in low-intensity theatres like the Mediterranean Sea. I is supposed to continually stay in theatre for two years, as any return to Wilhelmshaven costs two weeks (single distance). So, instead of the ships, the crews are exchanged every four months.

@@scottwhiting1871 well, the River class is a patrol ship right? I guess it has better range and endurance. Different uits have different purposes. But i gotta say that i am a fan of the K130, it's a really good ship, that's why we are getting 5 more.

The River class is an offshore patrol vessel though, essentially a coast guard vessel operated by the military. The K130s meanwhile are missile corvettes, actual purpose built warships.

@@ennuifredYep, although when those frigates started construction in 2011, the german navies main objective at the time was counter piracy and humanitarian aid, smth that the F123 and F124 class frigates weren’t rly geared towards. And for this specific purpose, the F125s were great ships, 2x helicopters, 4x boat bays, able to carry modular payloads and containers, very long endurance. And it was sort of a testing platform for the „two island“ design doctrine now standard on all upcoming german vessels. They’re just terribly suited for high intensity conflicts, hence they’re getting upgraded with 2x vertical IRIS-T launchers for 16x IRIS-T SLM (ESSM equivalent) in mid 2025. And the germans have learned from this, given that the F126 and F127 class frigates which are currently under construction are armed to the teeth. Especially the F127, the most heavily armed missile based warship in Europe.
