Impressive video, WWII History & Reenacting. Looking forward to your next upload. I smashed that thumbs up button on your content. Keep up the fantastic work! Your dedication to the bunker building process is fascinating. What challenges do you anticipate facing as you progress with the construction?

Thank you so much for the awesome feedback - I'm super happy to hear that you enjoy the build! 👍😎 Well, I guess we have to figure out how to get that roof watertight and find the best way to "fake" the multiple layers of logs that ther should be on the roof! But more in that in another video 😉

Anther great video Leander! I'm just wondering, was dot 44 ever issued to the Nordland division? I have not come across any original photos of the division wearing it so far.
@ww2historyandreenacting3 ай бұрын
Thank you so much! 😊👍 Though question. There are naturally very few photos from 44/45, but I'm sure you would find some soldiers with dot 44s, but I would stick to the common stuff to be safe. Best regards from Norway 🇧🇻😊

@@ww2historyandreenacting Thanks very much, I just wanted to make sure. I usually wear an oak A M42 smock when doing Nordland anyway. Looking forward tp the next video👍

How thick will the roof be .
@ww2historyandreenacting3 ай бұрын
According to the original building plans as well as on original photos ther should be 3 layers of logs with the layers going in alternate directions, followed by a layer of tar paper and another layer of smaller logs, stone, sand/soil, and various other debris and camouflage. Another alternativ to this last layer, based on original photos, a false pitched log roof was put up. This layer perhaps also helped any artillery or mortar rounds go off before they hit the roof itself and therefore providing extra good cover. We will of course not build with all the layers, but we will use some clever tricks to simulate the real thing, as we want to use as few trees as possible 😊👍

@ww2historyandreenacting thank you for getting back to me with the information. Yes, it would be a great deal of work really for nothing. But looking forward to the end product.

Hi, in what time frame would the soldiers in period be expected complete a bunker?
@ww2historyandreenacting3 ай бұрын
In the manual it's stated that under ideal conditions a group of 10 people should be able to complete this particular bunker in 10 days. 😊

Flat roof? Why not a pitch roof?
@ww2historyandreenacting3 ай бұрын
Just following the original building plans 😊 It's not completely flat 👍 and it gives the structure a lower profile as well 😉

@@ww2historyandreenacting Ah, I see. I'm in Montana and I was worried about the snow load.
@ww2historyandreenacting3 ай бұрын
@@Siegerstark aha 👍😊 yes, in this area in Norway its not uncommon to have 2-3 meters of snow. But it's usually 20-40 Celsius below zero and the snow is usually not so heavy until spring time. I guess we will see this winter if it holds 🥶 Best regards from Norway 🇧🇻😊
