Fun day! I am partial to the M1 Garand. Such a steady and accurate platform - and semi-auto to boot! WW2 US 101st 506th paratrooper Don Burgett (wrote the book Currahee) once told me that that was the only rifle to carry for him during WWII. He said no one ever got back up again after being shot with a 30-06.

Nice selection of historic firearms, but apart from live fire training with machine gun and more serious armament, I prefer to go and shoot to the civilian shooting range- saves more time :). From my own experience mostly live fire training in the military can be described with spending the whole day just to empty few magazines. The rest is just either range security, loading ammo, maybe few dry fire drills and a whole lot of waiting for your turn. :)

How comfortable to shoot is the paratrooper model of the m1 carbine
@G503-e8p4 күн бұрын
Very easy in my view. The .30 caliber is a lot of fun to shoot too! Just doesn't have the range like something like a Garand, but still much longer range than something like an MP40 by comparison. The kinetic energy of that round is very devasting, so was a capable round / rifle for combat. Watch a video to see what it does to ballistic molds at medium ranges - horrifying actually.
@ClancyWoodard-yw6tg3 күн бұрын
@@G503-e8p I might actually look that up because I've never actually seen anyone really do a real good test on the 30 carbine

i´d love to have joined a more profesional group and not a far right winged reenactor group a decate back, because i joined one in poland and at first it was okay if i remember correctly, but then they started to do events where you´d wear a parade uniform or a gala uniform, they held speeches (some copied from higher political members of the NS regime) and you HAD to greet with the Hitlergruß and a "sieg heil" or "Heil Hitler"... not even a normal military saltue, wich was rather comon back then too... i wish i still had my W-SS impression from back then, but the only thing remaining is my G-43 (that acctualy belonged to my great grandfather in his time in the Waffen SS, he was in the division "Prinz Eugen", 2nd grenadier regiment, 1st battallion, 1st company, as a Reichsdeutscher (i think only 9.8% were Reichsdeutsche in that division) and it was deactivated by the soviets, given back home from his POW camp in siberia and it was more of a interesting Walking stick for a few years... so the condition wasn´t the best when i found it in his shed, but i got it registered to me, i didn´t report it to athorities but i did a licence for it first, and then reported it so i could keep it, reactivated it and restored it ^^), wich i "hid" in my holiday house in austria, because it´s legal there to keep it non-deactivated and i sometimes go hunting when i go there, it´s licenced to me, i got my contacts so idk if everyone with a firearm licence could do the same but yeah, i was a rifle man in the rank of a Rottenführer with as i said the Gewehr 43 and i left the group (and reported it, i usualy don´t have anything against it, aslong as they don´t acctualy do stuff and it´s "only" nazi reenactment of a already controversial part of the german (para-) military from that time... but they were, very "scary" almost... the leaders of the reenactment group had loaded firearms and not like us reenactors (i probably was the only non-nazi/far right winged, reenactor there btw) blank ammo... the rarely used it though, but i don´t want to imagine what they´d do if you don´t follow their rules... after i reported it, they seem to have gone quiet for a while and i never heard about them ever again, apearently they broke up the group in the corona lockdown so they atleast aren´t a threat anymore ^^ now, after i transitioned (the username is a as old as my account, and i never changed it) i do DRK Helferin reenactment (a 40s impression, i do it since 8 months now :3)

Unlike the other replicas, I see only three significant inaccuracies here. 1, the upper arm should be on its back on top 2, the stitches under the lacing have only one row and are curved at the instep 3 the heel band has differently shaped stitches. So actually, for the superficial user, this is the ideal model.

Great video, really impressive work! 😊 I have a question about the collar tabs - are they from ATF as well? If not, where did you get them? And how did you manage to bring everything to Europe without any customs issues? The braid strips also look fantastic, may I ask where they’re from? Thanks in advance, and keep up the amazing content!

Lovely finds and insane condition on the lacquered steel casings. I once found an MP40 mag in a small stream. The magazine itself was falling apart, but it kept the roughly 23 shots that were still in it, in really nice shape. All dated 1943 with lacquered steel casings. Be careful with the asbestos gloves! Probably best to keep them in a zip lock bag or something so you aren't exposed to those fibers. Nice finds for sure with that MG box though! Grüße aus Bonn!
