Today there’s supposed to be a major homeless encampment, clean up in Culver City underneath the 405 on Venice Boulevard do a tragic circumstance they were not able to clean. California - Governor's office - claims the state has spent billions on the homeless. Clearly not a dollar for public housing. No apartments, just needles and boxes to collect needles, curbside sandwich delivery, alleged medical services, alleged legal services. All money for Democrat party comrades. Nothing for those left in tents.

I probably wouldn’t go that route… you would be amazed at how quickly ppl recover when they have the ability to get clean, have good food and housing and are treated with compassion. A number of privately run, well-organized tiny house developments have done this and are very successful. It can be done well. There are so many commercial and office spa es now empty that could be converted into apt. style housing.

Politicians who receive our taxes for salary be evaluated twice a year. We give them a grade based on how well they have done their job. If the average is 90 percent they get 90 percent of their salary. If we give them a D they get 60 percent of their salary. It is insane that we pay they taxes to be the servants of the people and make us live with this crap. They have their mansions. They have their private drivers, planes and security. I live on Washington and Sawtelle and it’s even over here too. I feel so bad for them but I try not to cross under the 405 here because I’ve had bottles thrown at me. The other day, on Washington and National, a business woman or office worker was just minding her own business waiting to cross at the light when a homeless woman brutally attacked her from behind, clubbing her in the skull and pushing her into the street before continuing to assault her on the ground. I weaved around the traffic and threw my car into park w the hazards in the street the corner got out to help within a few seconds of the first punch. I honked loudly and shouted LEAVE HER THE F ALONE and jumped out to help. I got the homeless broads attention/distracted her enough to give the victim time to run into a fellow passerby woman/good samaritans car who helped her escape this madness. I was sure the lady was going to kick and damage my car but she then turned her violence and threats to me. Threatening my life, I called CCPD. I’m sure she will be released in 2 hours 😢

I don’t have an issue with homeless people or RV people.. I have an issue with trash, drugs, violence, theft, noise, fire, panhandling, and general lack of awareness. The biggest issue is mental illness and addiction. But that’s not gonna be fixed on the street. They need to be in most cases forced into a mental institution… I know it’s opening Pandora’s box of abuse. How many people will be called insane but are perfectly fine, they just made the wrong enemies. How hard will it be to get in and even harder out. How many will be permitted residents. These are all questions no one wants to answer as we all have freedom of movement. Then the question of illegal immigrants. Overall it’s past my pay scale to think about how this would work. All I know is they need to do something more then spend billions to none profits owned by family and friends that Benefit from it getting worse.

You were fortunate to possess both the desire and drive to work your way out of homelessness and change your life for the better. Sadly, many others are are unable to escape the vicious effects of substance abuse and/or mental disorders (or both). These people need meaningful assistance to get off drugs and better access to mental and/or physical health services. Then maybe they'll regain their hope for a better tomorrow and take concrete steps to change their life.

Hi, I like when you interview people on the street. I wish you would have asked a few more in-depth questions like what he majored in college in, what field does he want to go into and does he have family that he can live with. I'm genuinely curious about some of the back stories of these people and some of the obstacles facing the ones who seem to be normal and intelligent. Also, the lady behind him was quite willing to talk and you didn't really ask her any questions. I would have liked to have heard from her too! In future I'd love to see do some more in-depth interviews with the street people.

The real issue's are alcohol, drugs, plain laziness, and complete lack of personal responsibility, not mental illness. Although "mental illness" are the buzz words their "leadership" wants you to believe. Living off taxpayer's money, getting money for food, etc., and being allowed to commit crimes, is just enabling them. They create filth, expect someone else to clean it up, then create more. They've also learned how to act, becoming talking head's, just like the media, and that it's "showtime" any time someone point's a camera at them. If BS was a horse, the guy GIV was talking to, would be Secretariet.

Like every 10 minutes pop out another homeless and are welcome. California agenda for more homeless and mental ill making sure California unaffordable to ton of Californians. Yes, California ton of homeless became sinners as even being needy create Karma. In California where the non-profit organizations LAHSA pocket ton of money and making more money and became a drug society housing druggies not family or vets. In additional to, California Homeless Healthcare organization giving away free drugs including meth pipe for the homeless to become drug dealers selling those drug to citizens while traveling to other States and back since the mental ill and homeless get free government bus pass and metrolink access. All of this drugs and non-profit organizations pay for by California tax payers and there voting right to help the homeless and mental ill in California. It pure evil and demon as these drugs make people addicted abusive insane unable to help and save themselves but rejected by society and more and more druggies are spreading like rapid fire. The worst yet to come more and more Migrants coming over to California to spread the drugs furture back to there States and all.

And like the one guy said, maybe a couple trained "primers" can open hearts. Nothing saying a group therapy/mental health session/miracle can't happen right there. Thanks for covering GiV.
