When it's still in fruit form, we call it red bell pepper or red capsicum depending on the country. When it's in dry powder form, we also call it paprika.

This reminds me (in a very general way) of pimento cheese in the American South.

We get Quark in our grocery store in Abbotsford, BC, Canada. But it costs $9.00 for a little container like you're using. Aber das mach ich jetzt doch gleich!!!

Give it a try. And then go on to invent your own version👍 maybe creamcheese will do a good job. ...

Looks good! And luckily, in the US at least, paprika is not usually made with red bell peppers. Most are made with the type of red pepper commonly called the 'paprika pepper', which is a large, cone-shaped chili pepper. They are in the same Capsicum Annuum family as a bell pepper, but a different varietal. My family is allergic to bell peppers, but paprika made with the other red peppers is fine.

A friend of mine from the Hessen region first introduced me to this, and she, like you mentioned made it with softened butter added. Delicious!!! Now I know the recipe!

You and I need to get together for a German street food experience in Munich. German street food, a video camera, a German, American Scotch-Irish and beer. What can go wrong? Lol.

Looks great. Made your pork knuckle recipe the other week ,it was delicious.

Good to hear that. I´m sure, you´ll like this, too. By the way: You can prepare it and have it for many days if you keep it refrigerated. Just like any other cheese

I personally use a swig of wheatbeer instead of a bit of the milk. it adds a bit of richness to the Obazda and it's lovely

Good day! Another tip....I noticed you used a fork to mash the cheese in a bowl. Next time use a flat plate then transfer your ingredients into a bowl...And remember to rinse the onion!!!

Limburger is what my Mother, her Mother, and her Mother used. Limburger, Butter, Egg yolk, and a finely diced Onion, Pepper, Caraway, and Paprika. No Salt bc the cheese is salty enough.
@GermanRecipes5 жыл бұрын
As wirh every traditionalmrecipe, every family has its own way to prepare it. Camembert is very common, but of course you can use any soft cheese ypu like. Limburger is quite stromg, isn‘t it?

I would never use Camenbert. Ever. I could tell you stories. :-)
@knittinggirl135 жыл бұрын
@@GermanRecipes I forgot. Limburger is very mild in comparison to Weisslacker Cheese. Vividly I remember from my child hood...You got to try that one and then...Limburger seems to be a tame Camenbert now.

@carolgiffen82034 жыл бұрын
bcask61 I substitute cottage cheese that I whiz in a food processor til smooth. I think that’s much closer to quark.
