They do. you just don't know the name of their companies. Germany manufactures everything. They make world class subcomponents that are state of the art. Something as simple as a screw can be considered high-tech if you factor in the required metallurgical characteristics, quality assurance, acceptable tolerances, etc. They make state of the art machines used in production around the world. China manufactures toys, gadgets, and appliances.

I feel that both this video and the people in the comments entirely misunderstand why there is such a large disparity between the French and German economies. Firstly, measuring economic success only by the trade balance is ridiculous and incredibly mercantilist. For the past 150 years, we have known it to be ludicrous. Secondly, the reason why Germany has stayed so successful within manufacturing is by artificially lowering wages to a point lower than the market would set them. Germany would otherwise naturally stop manufacturing quite as much and move more into services considering its success. That Germany does this is quite shortsighted and damaging, however, its success within Germany makes it almost impossible to revoke. Another way to explain trade balance is as follows, "The current account also reflects a comparison of national saving and national investment. By the national income accounting identity the current account balance is equal to the difference between national saving and national investment. Therefore, when a country has a trade surplus (a positive trade balance), national saving must, by definition, exceed domestic investment. That is, a country with a current account surplus is also a net lender (this country uses savings that is not invested domestically to make loans to foreigners). When a country has a current account deficit, national saving must, by definition, be below investment. In this case, the country is a net borrower (as national saving is not sufficient to finance all of domestic investment, and so the extra investment must be financed by borrowing from abroad)." TL;DR: Trade balance is the relationship between spending and saving. If a country has a deficit it means that they invest more than they save. That introduces the problem with the German model. By saving as much as they do they take away money from the economy instead of investing it. Slowly but surely that will result in European economic stagnation, hurting Germany in the process. France would benefit from Germany ending this system, however, arguing that it is the root cause of the French economic crisis would be foolish. Frances problems primarily stem from a stagnant and overly bureaucratic labour market, amongst other things, enacted by well-meaning, but misguided, socialist presidents. Everyone (almost) is able to identify this problem, however, solutions have been hard to implement due to hostile labour unions. I urge you all not to take my word for it, but to instead investigate yourselves. This is by no means an exhaustive analysis of the situation, but I believe that it sumarises the most important points.

The only tax is 20 % on the basic wage. After there is no others taxs for basic wage . instead of 10 euros per hours we have 8 euros per hours .

The French have outsourced their industry more. They manufacture their cars abroad, contrary to Germany. But the German labor force will decline with the aging of its population. Moreover, Germany is too dependent of its exports and innovates less than the French. Finally, the GDP is no longer as significant. as before. And the ecological transition will be more difficult for Germany.

France has the same problem like many other EU countries and US. You borrow 1 dollar and only make 80 cents! It's called economically not viable. However, US has USD, so they can keep robbing the world without facing consequences like that 18 trillion debt as long as USD is Nr.1. But France doesn't have that, it has to face the fact that they are loosing money by working! It will not be solved by borrowing less (cutting budget), it can only be solved by stop working! Until the formula is positive then restart!

What does it mean to 'open' the labour market? Does it mean to stop any and all guaranties? Cause if it does, Germany can keep its growth, in the end if nobody benefits from the growth, it's just empty growth. On the other hand I do agree that a labour market that's too strict and rigid isn't a good thing. But I never understood what catchphrases like: "open the labour market" mean in actual practical terms. There needs to be a better description.

There's not only France that is in a difficult economic situation. There's also Spain, Italy (in spite of the harsh reforms that were imposed to them), Holland, Belgium... I don't even speak about Greece. The shocking and inefficient way they were treated tells a lot about what is EU. France should defend the other latin countries that are humiliated, and defend itself. And beat this stupid market game that benefit only to the richest. Even in Germany the poorest grows poorer. But french elites are for a global world. They no longer want to be french. They are parisians more than french. They come from the same boroughs, the same schools, etc. If the unemployement were as high as 90 %, their families and them wouldn't be affected. They live in another world, like aristocrats of old regime. They hate the french people, but they are afraid of it. They know that if they cut the welfare system, we will have a civil war. A Lebanon-type civil war. There's only one thing I could say about germans : they are disciplined. They have always been like that, for the best and for the worst. And they despise latin and slavish people. What they didn't succeed during the second world war, they are succeeding by EU.

I think the problem is that the world has become a much more selfish place. People will not sacrifice or take any pay cuts to make the country a better place as a whole. Its just the same as living beyond your means at a national level.

Not every country can be a net exporter. Who would we be exporting to? Mars or Venus? If anything, German trade surplus is a huge problem. It's caused by German lack of domestic investment and lack of markets created by lower wages. France is the model that Germany should follow.
@JoeSerpa
@JoeSerpa 9 жыл бұрын
+TheTokkin Most of the German export go to fellow Eurozone, where no borders existed. But than if you know that most of the Eurozone countries had minimum wages fixed by laws, and that biggest Eurozone country Germany didn't have from 2005 - 2015, tell us that Germany stolen millions of the jobs from fellow Eurozone countries like Netherlands , France, Italy, Spain and etc. For those who don't understand, short explanation. German companies were able to pay from 2005-2015 "migrant slaves" for example less than 400 euros net monthly for full working time, and for example French company in France were forced by French law (SMIC) to pay least 1200 euros net monthly for the same job and in the same time France and Germany were all the time in monetary and custom union. So of course that everybody will open jobs and businesses in Germany much before than in Spain, Italy, Netherlands, France and etc, because they will pay less labour force there. So what those countries need to do to compete with Germany? To lower theirs wages to slavery level, to compete with Germany in China thing, slavery wages? French chosen not to do that, as Dutch, as Spanish, as Italian, so Germany stolen millions of the jobs just for that from all of them. According to article of the Reuters from year 2012, Germany had 8,5 millions of the socalled "small jobs" where people wages were under 400 euros net monthly for full time working hours. Also Germany export in fellow Eurozone countries France, Netherlands, Spain and Italy, more than they export combine into US, China, Russia, UK, India, Brazil and Japan. Also conséquence of having slavery wages in your country, so others will not be able to compete, and if you don't have a borders between those Eurozone countries, super for Germany, it will export a lot. So it is obvious that being in monetary and custom union, and without common wages policy is very good for Germany. So question for those countries which are in monetary and custom union with Germany, why not be in the same thing with China? It will have the same impact on theirs economies?

+Appaches BS propaganda again and typical right wing BS propaganda which you read somewhere about France, but you even don't know where. France have productivity per hour worked 133% of EU average, not for one year, but tendency long in past, what is 10% more than Germany, 28% more than UK, 32% more than Italy and etc. So those "France is socialist country" BS hunting stories write to someone else, I know both France and Germany, so you cannot lie to me a single word about that. Yes, migrants cannot found jobs in France because France is in monetary union with "European China" where 8,5 milions slaves are forced nby system to earn less than 400 euros a month for full time jobs,, so those migrants in France should work for least 350 euros a month to compete with slaves from Germany, and France choose not to have slavery. Also, ghetto in Berlin called "Marzahn", is not just the biggest ghetto in Europe but is bigger than many French ghettos combine. Yes, it is popular in many media to talk about migrants in France, ignoring that just 5 millions of the Turks live in Germany, not to mention others. The main current French problem is that they are in monetary union with "European China", with no borders to protect European way of life and French minimum wages what is a choice of French. That is main French problem. I respect if Germans wish to have Chinese wages, but than leave monetary and etc union, leave Eurozone and create monetary or what ever union with those who wish to have slavery system and than if you like, have 100 euros a month jobs, it will be fine with me, we will protect our borders and those kind of the products will get extra taxes so it will be the same like you guys work for French SMIC of 1300 euros.

The problem of France (and of all Europe) is that Euro is ruled by German Central Bank and not from European Central Bank: it's clear that apart Germany, all euro-zone is declining. Germany will increase its surplus thanks to the deficits of all other European consumers (euro assures competitivity gain to the german goods in european market) : that's why european budget laws starts to being adopted only when Berlin has gained a large numbers of depending-customers.

+Joe Serpa Because Germany has the strongest economy!!! Deutsche Mark was 3x Fr. I m Sorry, Germany have to dictate its will... French economie is too weak and doesn't deserve any EU Institution!!! You have 10 Millions of so call "fonctionnaires" who work 32 hours a week and dont product anything....It is your country, if you find that your system is good, note that any country in the whole world doesn#t follow your 32 hours, 10 Millions jobless, 10.Million foctionnaires...You have to think!!!!!

Appaches BS, Germany had 2005 before slavery wages of 8,5 milions slaves from Germany, more unemployed than France. So don't lie. Also, did we able to call those 8,5 millions from Germany who have less than 400 euros wages, like people who have a jobs? It is more like +39 hours a week slavery "hobby". You lie too often, unemployment in France is 3,2 mil not 10 mil., also no, "fonctionnaires" don't work 32 hours a weekin France, but 35 hours a week, and French 35 hours a week, is like German 38,5 hours a week, because French 10% higher productivity than German. Of course it is my country, that is reason why I said that we cannot afford to be in monetary union with "European China" where 8,5 million of the slaves work for less than 400 euros a month, and where German banks exchange toxic out of nothing created USD (negative credit rate for USD credits in Germany) for healthy Euros. That is classic banditism and slavery, which produce more unemployment (plus consequnces) in France, and France should not just leave Eurozone but also EU. Than Merkel like real slave master will be able to force another few million Syrian slaves to work for less than 300 euros, when those like Martin Wintekorn will have a 350 millions euros bonus for leaving early manager position in VW, if she like, I don't care, those like Wintekorn will pay extra taxes in France if they wish to sell it something in France and it will be OK with me, they will not be able to destroy jobs in France with theirs slavery attitutude.

France has a huge public debt of 113%/GDP (Germany 69%) although it is exploiting colonies all over the world and has drained neighbouring Belgium through Sabena/AirFrance, Fortis/BNP, Electrabel/Engie, Dexia/Crédit Local de France ... (hundreds of billions).

We don't blame others. We just keep doing things our way. What's the point of working a lot, if you can't have neither the time nor the money to enjoy life ? German people work more, for longer, and yet they are paid less. Reminds me of the bankers in Wall Street, the golden youth working for JPMorgan, Citigroup and others. They earn a hundred thousand dollars a month, but work 90 hours a week. What's even the point ? What do you do with that money ? you can't enjoy it at all.

the ideas made on this video have validity but are too one sided, and when i say one-sided i don't mean towards germany but towards liberal-economic thinking. we've seen how austerity in greece tanked the economy, the solution is not to spend less but to make more money something that austerity is unable to do.

It is no secret of the success of Germany , they are one of the few countries in the world with any commonsense , I live in Australia and if you cold see the reckless stupidity that goes on here it would make a German weep , we have every resource that is imaginable but we have the highest electricity charges in the world , we have all the iron ore and coal in the world but struggle to make steel , all the bauxite in the world but struggle to make aluminum , all the gas in the world and export millions of tons but we cannot afford our own gas , all the land in the world but we cannot afford to buy homes , all the fruit in the world but no one to pick it except European backpackers on a holiday as the Australians will not pick it because they are on welfare , the cause of the problem the same as Britain where it came from , the Fabian Socialist Labor party and its dogma , the slow road to a communist state .

You see, the thing is, this is the internet; so it's a place for everyone, and the ww1 is over about a century ago. so, I cannot mark a flag for every joke I make telling who should read it and I cannot guarantee there isn't someone out there, like your kind soul, who 'still' feels shaky and sensitive whenever history is brought up. Ok, my turn: Steer away from the jokes you don't like and don't tell others what to do about 'em. 'sincerely', if that gives you any solace.
