Please be aware of heavy flooding in the eastern regions of Brandenburg, Saxony and Bavaria. A century flood. Be aware of that and don’t travel to cities like Dresden, Leipzig, Magdeburg, Munich, Nuremberg etc.

While in Lübeck, also look out for the „Gänge“, these are small inhabited backyards that can be entered through a narrow passage at the side of a house in the historic city Center…you can park at the MUK (Musik und Kongresshalle), there are designated spots extra for campers, from there you can continue by foot. Have a nice and safe trip!

Try to visit Lüneburg. It is right next to Hamburg and you can reach it via Autobahn. You can park your RV on the "Sülzwiesen" and form there you canü walk to the historic Town. You need maybe 2 hours to get a good feeling of the City. Places to visit are: Rathaus, Große Bäckerstraße, Am Berge, Am Stintmarkt, But there are a lot of more small alleys you can walk.

If you spontaneously take a detour to Frankfurt am Main: the Dippemess fair is ongoing and will still be in town up to and including Sunday 22d. In addition to the usual fairground attractions (food, rides, etc) this particular fair is also where you can buy all kinds of steins and pottery, more than you could possibly imagine. Including steins / Humpen from the Kannebäckerland with the traditional blue-on-grey decor. (I actually strongly suspect the German American use of the word "stein" as a word for a big ol' mug of beer came from that area, due to immigration to the USA from the surrounding middle rhine region.)

If you're travelling to Lübeck, DO NOT skip Schwerin. Look it up, it's gorgeous. The city was built on/around 7 lakes, with a fairy tale palace and a medieval city core.

Oi James, maybe you put Dresden on your list at the end of your trip. If you didnt recognized a bridge collapse two days ago and causes a lot of traffic jam inside the city ´cause another bridge is under construction right now. So there are maybe 1-2 bridges left to enter the city.. I´m so sad I can´t get you to my area the Münsterland while I´m back in Australia. The jetlag is murder but I think I can make it and come out alive 🤣 I wish you all the fun you can get, friendly people around you and hopefully open camping sides. Have a great time.

The incredible architecture of the old town/center that left after the bombing during the world war, then also the wonderful area of Loschwitz, where you have a wonderful view and a lot of cute architecture if you go up the hills, also literally everything next to the Elbe River in outside areas is beautiful.... a lot to see there :)
