24:30 It does make sense though. He doesnt google for score but just the location and the team and football. On a US profile it would make sense to then show the live score if there is a match on, but on a German profile it then makes more sense to show a wiki profile. So yeah if he had put in score with his search he would have seen it. Same is for the american profile in germany, looking for FC Bayern München to show wiki and a german profile aa live score....
@HappyBeezerStudios29 күн бұрын
And in that example he didn't even search for the scores. He just searched for the team. So google gives him information about the team. If he wants the scores, he has to search for the scores.

One thing the speedtest rankings don't show is available speed. It's just speed measurements by their service. Which can even be lower depending on congestion. I currently have 200Mbps fiber, which is generally properly measured by speedtest. But I can get 8Gbps internet if I want. At almost double the price. I had 50Mbps (before a free upgrade), which I had no problems with. The plusses and minuses likely indicate up or down from previous rankings.

It’s the same in rural areas in the UK but now fibre is now available for all us. I haven’t saw a fax machine in years but my internet wasn’t that slow before we got fast fibre optic now. Mu husband works from home for years and he works for the top Telecommunications companies and we get it free. Where I live we had our house built and the walls are nearly 10inches thick.

I live 2 km outside of a village of about 3000 people in the east of The Netherlands. We did have a FTTH project in 2018 for which you could apply, and I choose to pay of the extra cost as a one time sum (EUR 1300), instead of a montly add-on to the regular fees. Basic speed up/down is 350 MBit/s, incl. 2 TV receivers for about EUR 60/m. If you want, you can get 8000 MBit/s from my current provider. My family in Germany, just a stone trow away from the village edge, struggeled to get some decent internet speed for a long time.

22:55 Ironically I set my phone to "English - Germany", for the simple fact that app translations are often atrocious and they don't offer a language selection. That way I can get all the stuff in english, including the untranslated apps, but stuff like number formats and all kinds of location-based things are the same as in german. But I can totally understand when he searches "Texas A&M football" he gets result about the club. How would google know that he wants to get the scores? The obvious assumption is that he wants to know about the team. Where they are, who they are, what their history is. If he wanted the scores, he'd have to search for the scores. Which he didn't. So it isn't that google gives different information he searched for. He never searched for the scores.

But i dont agree with speednet averages because it all has to do with how good people have set up their Wifi in house, that doesnt mean that the providers are slow.

Our biggest population center and as far west as you can possibly go. (Bonn, Dortmund, Bochum, Düsseldorf, Essen, and yes, also Cologne) That is a 1700 square mile urban and 3000 square mile metro area with over 5 million urban population and over 10 million in the metro area. The guy in the video mix everything. Wifi and walls size have nothing to do with internet connection speed offer. When we talk about someone's connection, it's the connection available on the router. If behind the router you use a bad wifi, it doesn't mean your connection is bad. BTW, 135Mb/s average in germany is really low. The video is from 2021. Now in 2024, on speedtest, germany average is only 90Mb/s down and 32 Mb/s up ! Damn it's worse than in 2021 ! Just for comparison, in france i got a 2Gb/s down and 1Gb/s up for 50 euros/month, including advanced IPTV services.

with how their powergrid looks like, i'm not surprised tehy are behind in internet speeds. i don't knoiw about germans, but here in france, the ones that are concrete or bricks are only the loadbearing ones in new homes. the others is a different story. Recently, you can have the home pre cabled for ethernet connexion in the rooms. that way, the walls aren't much a problem in those cases. My father had ethernet cables put down in a home that was already built and he loves the change in speed and stability. fiber is quite commun except in far rural areas. and we have true fiber in the cities (if you have the equipment on the receving end of course). best of al is that there's no data usage limits on broadband and fiber here.

But at least you have freedumb.
@nedludd7622Ай бұрын
This is the most interesting subject you have presented. It is surprising that as a provider, you didn't know much about this stuff. This episode is mostly about the technical aspect. As important is the commercial/political aspect. The US companies keep Americans in an inferior position through their cable cartel. If you are in one sector, you have one "choice". Go a few streets away and it is another company. They don't need to improve service. I don't know about the system in Germany, but in France there are three, or four, major cable/telephone companies. They are required to give nationwide service and thus, prices are much lower than in the US. Check the prices yourself. Then, for years the French government has been pushing/requiring companies to install fiber and the result is that almost all the country in on fiber. It surprises me that Germany is almost as crappy as the US. How much do you pay per month for you phone? I bet that my phone is less than yours and probably by half. The same goes for cable. I could give an example of the lowest phone subscription, but you wouldn't take me seriously.

France, with my actual provider and fiber connexion 990 Mbs down / 350 Mbs up for 35€ so around $40/mo. We're talking about megabits, not megabytes like Charlie. 100 MB is way more than most people, basically 800 Mbs. So, @ItsCharlieVest do you confirm you had 100 MB up and not Mbs ?

"the wifi is very slow" the difference between german brick/ concrete and US paper walls 😂 Dare to punch a german wall, you gonna end up in the hospitle with a broken hand 😂 When you know what german/ europeen walls are made of just the thought of throwing a punch at one sounds increadibly stupid, no chance that can go well no matter how well you think you´re trained/ prepared 🤣 I just had to drill two holes because mice chewed through the power connection to my room for a new power line, needed to buy a 40cm/ 16inch drillbit (and I got walls on the thiner side for Germany) and thankfully my cordless drill was strong enough on hammer to make it through. In the US you only need a pressure cattle killer with long extention to punch through a wall while in Europe you would barely make a dent into the wall with that. Punching out a lock like in the movie? Well, even in the US it doesn´t excactly work like that you punch out the entire knob and brake the frame somewhat but in Europe? Again you´re probably going to the hospitle since it didn´t work and the recoil hurt you badly 😂

However, it has lost popularity as it was/been monitored by CSI (both in the country and abroad) in the news and rumors. The German state is paying for the expansion of the internet network across the country for areas where it is less than 100mbs (I'm not entirely sure about the number, it could be more) as well as digitization is mandatory for the lower-ranking countries in the next few years
