Germany is back with their national final: Unser Lied für Liverpool!
This year there will be 8 different songs competing with a 9th spot reserved for a TikTok Wildcard!
Today we are going to listen to the 8 songs guaranteed to be in the show!

I hope so, I hope they'll send Lord of the lost. I am from Germany, but sometimes I fear that they (we) do the wrong choice... At least I hope for John Lydon (former Sex Pistols). My wish is Lord of the lost is the first place and John Lydon is the second place or the other way around

I like Lord of the Lost the best from all of the acts so far. The bar for Germany is always low. Being an German Eurovision fan is a painful passion sometimes. 😅

I'm a Lord of the Lost fan 🇨🇵 and these guys are awesome. They are talented, generous, respectful, tolerant, funny, passionate.... I love each of their songs from their 11 albums, not one displeases me (out of more than a hundred). It can range from Dry the rain, sex on legs, la bomba, raining stars, doomsday disco, shut up when you're talking to me, cut me out, heartbeat of the devil, it was night, blood and glitter, destruction manual , one last song but also judas, the look, chery chery lady 😂 or even deathless, adonaï, a splintered mind. All these songs show the extent of their talents and still I surely forget some.

Definitely check out From Fall to Spring - Draw the Line off the TikTok-Selection. They are the most hopeful acts for the 9th Spot. This will definitely be right up your alley from your metal-tastes you described. Also see if you can find a music video for the selection acts, the NDR asked every participant to do a vertical video performance of their song for promotion on tiktok, some of these performances... really stink.

In the TikTok wildcard is another great song with From Fall to Spring Draw the line. It's such a Linkin Park Callback and I love it probably better for masses then Lord of the Lost Anica Rouso, Lord of the Lost, Rene Miller, From Fall to Spring are my favorites

My favorites are Frida, Lord of the lost and Anica, for very different reasons Frida is touching, and in German! Lord is so out there, so cool, hardcore and gay enough Anica is powerful, storytelly. I like it If one of these 3 gets picked I'll be very pleased

Lord of the Lost exist since 2009 and are from Hamburg. They are an established dark rock/metal/gothic band and got to support Iron Maiden on their tour last year and will do so again this year, so they definitly know what they are doing in front of a huge crowd ;)

Many Germans have Lord of the lost as a favorite..But.. there will be an international finale... And if Germany wants to avoid ending up at the lower part of the result list..they must send Patty Gurdy She might not be that big in Germany, but she has Spotify listeners from almost every country in the world.. (180 countries out of ..is it 195?..) She has 280k followers on Instagram..(more than 4 times more than LotL).. and she gets 5-6-7 thousand new followers each day now.. So if Germany wants to reach the top of the list... choose Patty..Remember.. Germany won't be able to vote on their own artists in the finale... Best wishes from Norway

They've definitely upped their game. Patty Gurdy is one to watch, especially if she does a revamp. She originally started as a hurdy-gurdy playing KZbinr and submitted her video online, hence it got more than a quarter of a million views so i'm glad NDR managed to listen to the people in this way - it shows they're improving after their rigged anti-eskimo callboy/Felicia Lu fiasco last year.

Patty Gurdy makes some pretty good stuff but the generic pop beat on this song killed it for me. LOTL is the top choice here by far although I'm pretty biased lol.

It really is going to be a choice between Patty Gurdy and Lord of the Lost. Most older germny prefer Patty Gurdy but in my opinion its too cliché eurovision. Lord of hte Lost is probably the best choice here. And we know from bands lke Hatari, that hardrock/metal usually does fairly well at eurovision

Lord Of The Lost has great variety, so they definitely have more metal-y songs, too. But also more soft songs

Ruins is my favourite LotL song. I'm a metalhead but I'm chronically ill & have been bed-bound for over 10 years. As I'm also sound-sensitive most of the time (on a bad day, even hearing whispering can make me have a fit or faint) so I've not been able to listen to music for years. As a result I've not really been looking out for bands new to me for that long. Unsurprisingly I've totally missed out on LotL. I'm now starting to recover from my last major relapse & an starting to enjoy music again for a couple of hours throughout each day. It's always been such a huge part of my life, going to gigs at least once a week, playing several instruments, & I've felt lost without it. I can't tell you how happy being able to embrace music again makes me. I love Eurovision so have concentrated on the national finals. When I saw what the German shortlist was this year I listened to them all & LotL blew my mind. I've now listened to their entire back catalogue & bought all of their albums in the last few weeks, as a gift to myself for feeling better. I'm obsessed! Lol They've given me a new lease of aural life & I'm so happy. My goal is to be well enough to see them live when they do their solo tour of the UK in Autumn. I think that might be a step too far but I can always dream. It's no surprise that Blood and Glitter is my winner for ESC 2023, it's also top 5 best ever ESC song imo. They seem to be almost chameleons, with their musical style changing from album to album. The Blood and Glitter album is a lot different to the others, with it's 1970-80s overtones, synths & electric drums. I just wish there was a way they could incorporate the synth breakdown during the credits of the video into the main body of the song. That would make it unbeatable imo.

I'm from Germany and I'm also happy that this year many genres can show their song. After the really big shit storm to the list of songs and that electric callboy with pump it didn't get through ist. Most of the Germans and also internationally fought for them to get the chance to be your act. If you don't know the song you should listen to it.😅🎶

There was a national final entry in german, that went on to become a small hit here (kzbin.info/www/bejne/lXfNg6xoic6tqqc) despite not being chosen, by MIA., and i wish we could send something like this or like their other songs. In fact we could probably still just send it even 20 years after... They had so many songs that could be an interesting addition to Eurovision compared to the stuff we have sent. Im kind of missing that quality in this selection

Consider doing the wild card review because of ¨ Draw the Line ¨ from fall to springs ( a more modern and melodic metal song . They have potential for the win . Also the artist Jona has a great song for the wild card as well.
