This show is really become my Guilty Pleasure. I never kept my Home like that. My dad died 11 years ago and since it's just my Mother and I, we do everything to keep the house clean. These shows inspire me to make sure that the house is as clean as possible. My mother's in her 80's and I am very strict with her about certain things. She doesn't go downstairs in the Basement if she needs something she asks me the night before so when I am at work it's not neccessary for her. Caren is a very smart lady. When my nephew was 16 she taught him laundry, cleaning and the like. When he was in College, he was self sufficent.

I LOVE watching these programmes 🤣. But there are things that make me wonder... if someone (such as Hayley) is a complete germaphobe, how is she OK wearing her shoes indoors? And if your floor is cleaned twice a day how is the water physically quite dirty, mine is done once a week (and I have a dog) and the water is much cleaner than hers 🤔. On a side note, that 24 year old boy needs a good shake, lazy lazy lazy boy. Wouldn't even help clean his own home for an hour because he had to get up early 🤬
@xannay3 жыл бұрын
Exactly. Thank you! I am nowhere near being a germaphobe, but wearing shoes at home is usually a big NO. And that filthy water was quite suprising. It was either just edited this way by the filming crew or she was cleaning something outside or some surface such as bricks... or... you can really bring a lot of filth on your shoes if wearing them inside. My floor is not that dirty either, I clean it once a week as well and I have two small kids. Of course, if they make a mess, spill something etc. I wipe it right away, but I do entire floor just once a week and the water is still cleaner than that.

As a person with depression, I know ho overwhelming it can be to start cleaning sometimes and having a person full of energy and motivation coming round really helps. I think this is the big positive of these OCD helpers. Living with someone else can also help, because their well being matters, even when you don't have the will to do it for yourself. Even if I would let myself slip on the cleaning (once a week, like a normal non-OCD person), I can't have my partner come home after work to a disgusting house.
@Chiller-pc1dv8 ай бұрын
The thing is though, performing compulsions when you have OCD will only make the disorder much worse. And I myself have it, so performing the compulsions themselves is also incredibly stressful. They are done in hopes to reduce distress, but it's a cycle and it's damaging.
@soly89198 ай бұрын
@@Chiller-pc1dv thank you, I had not considered the distress for the person suffering OCD having to answer compulsions, only the possible benefits of such a short acquaintance. At the start of the year I moved in with partner and his family that have lived in their house in for 15 years, over time the mess become so out of hand and I couldn’t handle it. My house was never bleach clean but it was never dirty so I became sick for 3 months but when I stated to get better I started doing little things here and there and they honestly didn’t even realise those places/things were dirty. My partner had changed his ways and helps out a lot but his mum had lived like this so long she just doesn’t know how to clean anymore :( . It breaks my heart when I come home from work and the place I’ve just cleaned is already dirty but to be honest i think it’s an illness and denial. Me and my partner are moving out when COVID dies down a little but I dread to see how her house will be once we leave:/

yes, people don't even notice after a while. Eg I have very clear surfaces (I don't have OCD - I just find it easier to dust if there is nothing on the surface) but some houses have things all over the place. I could not live like that. I am sorry they don't realise what you have done - mind you that is like how it is for many parents - the children never notice all you do to clean their toilets etc etc

I have to say most people when they see how the clean people live and the efforts that they make to keep the house clean they judge it and say things like why do you feel the need to be so extreme ect but the first lady who's house was in a mess when she saw Karen's house she was really positive about it and said how beautiful her house was and how it makes her feel calm and tranquil. She was lovely and you could see she really wanted to do the same with hers rather than trying to make Karen feel like she was the odd one for keeping her home in order.

Hello from San Antonio and this older sister o.c.c. has a hint,stop using paper towels and use coffee filters( best bargain glass cleaner and microwave cleaner in the world) The fiberglass ones only,please,as they are reusable for vehicles and with the new coffee makers people are not buying these Mr. Coffee types and they are cheap.

the son looks like a typical momma's boy who has not learned how to be an adult. He's a damn child despite being 24 and watching him is infuriating. And to see the mother babying her adult son so much that she'd rather do something herself than tell him, I swear to god. She should've thrown him out of the house years earlier. Once he'd learn how to fend for himself, he'd appreciate his mother's work more

He should just cut it off. Looks so greasy and disgusting. His dad has the right idea.
I would definitely hire Jamie to clean my house--in the buff, for an extra charge, of course!!!

I hate how messy people always say clean and minimalistic homes are unhomely, uncomfortable to live in etc. For me its definition of homely because i can rest in a beautiful orderly space and relax, not thinking about cleaning. Home is meant for people to live in, not for piles of objects.
@nataliebutler2 жыл бұрын
For them it is unhomely. Rather than get upset by it, why not accept that what's true for them isn't true for you. We're all different.

There's a happy medium though. That guys house looks so bare! No pictures of him and his wife/kid, no little trinkets.....makes it look like an unloved house in a weird way. Almost like nobody is allowed to actually "live life" in it.

'They should have swabbed Angie's toilet before she demonstrated her cleaning routine? They were just swabbing the bleach and disinfectant?
@alison29842 жыл бұрын
It's to see how affective the cleaning routine is so they do it and if it's a low reading the cleaning is working, if it's a high reading they need to adjust it That's literally the whole point to see if the excessive cleaning is needed x

A weird "kid" , all the excuses most people have for not keeping the slightest order....it's pitiful not being able to fill and empty the bin in a society where we have a good system.

There seems to be a lot of really slack parenting with these people who hoard & live in filth. I would stop the internet if my son behaved like that. He doesn't seem to have a job either.
