Can I just love on bens kind nature and personality here? I think he took the brunt or everything here. He helped Lindsey’s fear of birds even though maybe he himself might not be afraid of them. Had to deal with her anxious and controlling ways and play peacemaker. Had to face his own ocd 24/7 since he had to sleep in a different bed which causes high anxiety for him And on top of all that also dealt with the clutter and cleaning / his own frustrations with the progress without losing his temper once! This man deserves a medal.

Really nice guy, he was totally out of his depth with the house & doing his best with what he'd been lumbered with - years of neglect & mountains of stuff. He seemed lonely & quite sad & I'm very sorry to read he died not long after the episode was aired. Hope his children have happy memories of him as he clearly loved them & wanted to do better for them.

Honestly I'm with Lindsey on this. If someone is helping with something you clearly struggle you should at least give a try and a helping hand. They are not on his payroll, taking the time from their own life and children and can't even bother to show some respect. As someone with OCD myself, the amount of effort it must have taken her to enter that mess of a house and touch those disgusting surroundings, the LEAST I would expect is some respect.

The cleaners were hurting themselves, with their disorder being recorded cleaning other people's dirty houses. But the only person who was "rude" was Lindsey IMHO - because it's also hurting for the owner, having strangers over and touching all your stuff. Cleaners often forget that and make everything personal to themselves, especially if they have a disorder. Everybody had a load of pressure / stress. But Ben, amazing how he fixed it all, top notch! The Owner did effort and so did Lindsey. Respect? Bitching to the owner of his mess wasnt respectful, if it was for Lindsey, she would had thrown everything out. Basically throwing a life away (or even lives) just to satisfy her phobia for just cleaning. But she came around, thanks to the Amazing Ben and everything ended well for that TV show. Everybody did their effort and I've seen respect towards everybody, in the same amount. Gratitude came after the work was done. Had this happened to me too, I had a fight with the cleaners as well, but at least they understood where it came from and why, afterworth, all was well and showed gratitude and upmost respect. The only thing I did was guarding my important stuff being thrown away and sorting things out. (like what Colin did) Sadly they did manage to throw a lot important and precious stuff away anyways, but the end result made me very forgiving. The moment you await / expect respect, you gonna get dissappointed a lot in life. RIP Mr Colin Peck

Hoarding is actually a form of OCD too that cannot be ignored ! The thoughts that you are somehow defiling memories but throwing things away? But hoarding is more to do with loss and grief and he was indeed a very sad man out of his depth with the maintenance of the house, and still grieving for his brother. So sad to hear he died after this show , those two beautiful kids with no Dad . I guess when you have been stepping around landmines a bit of dust and clutter isn’t the most terrifying, I guess it’s all relative! My heart bleeds for this elderly man, he was so patient and understanding, all he did was make attempts to feed his kids. You can't tell an elder to "shut up" Lindsey was extremely rude and the title is very misleading. RIP to Collin.

it was not even sentimental. These people came to "clean" and were specifically asked to clear with owner any items they would mark as "garbage" than threw away silver hand mirror and attempted to threw away 2000 pounds worth Piranesi "because it was damaged". I mean these people have no concept of historical value, too focused on themselves and are more interested in creating drama around them than actually helping struggling people. And the whole "shut up" incident. She scold the OWNER of the house for leaving for 15 minutes, questions his upbringing and knowing of etiquette, calling the situation "a disgrace". Great episode. Felt for the cleaners when they took time out from their own lifestyle to help out someone who had obviously let their dwelling go to ruins and chaos. The owner did not appear too concerned because he ventured off to the shops without informing the cleaners instead of assisting them. Felt for the cleaners. At least the cleaners did something for themselves - helped overcome their own phobias. The owner of the mansion caused me to feel angry with his lack of regard or consideration.

I would imagine this whole thing was a contributing factor to his heart attack - please show some respect to a deceased persons reputation, if not the truth.

It’s actually not and without it the birds would fly into things or get injured, which is far more cruel. Those birds are at a sanctuary because they’re unable to survive in the wild. Stop being so presumptuous and actually learn about something before you judge it. Fetlocks and tethers have been used for centuries and they don’t harm birds. Their sole purpose and invention was in order to keep birds who can be a danger to themselves, each other and other animals - including people - safe.

Lindsey is clearly uncomfortable by being in such aristocratic surroundings. Her rudeness is her insecurity showing through. She's awful.

Such aristocratic surroundings, all rubbish and filth.

It’s reverse snobbery isn’t it? She stated at the beginning that she’d be worried that the owners of the home wouldn’t be nice to her and yet she’s not exactly warm

I feel that the house owner and his wife to take on a room per year and get that lovely house in order or his childrens inheritance will be a dysfunctional home when it's has the opportunity to be a fine piece of our heritage which he should be proud of

Oh goodness, those crystal chandeliers are a specialised cleaning item. The two men certainly took on a big job there.

They must think we are all naive as to believe only two people are called in to clean such a huge place and in such a short time!! It’s quite obvious this is a front to a large scale clean with a group of people!! An ordinary house perhaps but not on this scale!!!

What were they thinking throwing an antique silver frame in the skip? And cleaning that chandelier- made me think of Del Boy and Rodney 😂.

Sure you’re exposing the people with ocd to what they’re scared of, but you’re also letting them act on their compulsions: cleaning. It’s like inviting an alcoholic to a drinking show to expose him to alcohol and then have him drink. They’re treating ocd like some sort of cleaning superpower, it’s like telling the alcoholic it’s a superpower to be able to drink so much so often. It’s an illnesses not a superpower, just because it looks healthy to you on the outside because things get clean, doesn’t mean this illness isn’t absolute torture for the ones who have it.

They chose the wrong cleaners for this house. Lindsey is completely ignorant and fake. She's lucky the family didn''t sue her or the programme. Can't watch anymore of it.

When Lindsey said she didn't do animals, that is the moment I lost interest in her, if someone doesn't like animals, then I don't like them. I do not like to see animals that have had taxidermy done on them. I do love stately homes but I hate all the taxidermy. RIP Mr Peck, he sadly died of a heart attack a month after this was filmed, I hope his children are well.

as a professional cleaner myself, even i felt over whelmed by what those 2 poor cleaners had to face. it was really disgusting. They did a great job. Im glad she fronted him about him seeing her as "just a cleaner, no one important" - over my 27 yrs of cleaning - i too have been fronted with people like that, who look down on you. really they need to respect cleaners, because we do the jobs you HATE.
