What about his unfinished paintings? Is there a notary list of his atelier after he died ? There were more variations of his nightschool and most artists have unfinished or 2nd grade ones. Gerrit Dou was a perfectionist so there must be some there. I did read that the brothers van Ostade did buy unfinished paintings and did finish them and sold them.
