So, serious question here... I’ve been playing piano for 14 years, and for some reason, am just now coming across how great the accordion can be. It might be easy to assume that if you can play the piano, that you can pick up the accordion, just by looking at the instrument, but how easily (or not easily) does piano “ability” transfer to playing the accordion? I feel like you are a great person to ask, simply because you play the accordion very well, but you also play the piano very well. And before I go nuts trying to research the right accordion, what would be your recommendation for an inexpensive, first-time, not-super-serious accordion? PLEASE keep up the accordion covers, they sound really incredible.
@emeraldgale6035 жыл бұрын
I've been casually learning both for about six months, so I might not be the best person, but I'll put in my two cents. the right hand is very similar. depending on the accordion you get, it might be exactly the same, or the keys might be smaller. it's a weird feeling switching between them. the left hand is *nothing* like it is on piano. very different muscle memory, the buttons are organized by fifths instead of in order, and it's an awkward position compared to piano. the bellows are another thing to keep in mind and work on coordination, but it's not too much of a worry. knowing piano would be a good starting point, but don't expect it to be an easy transition

@@emeraldgale603Which accordion did you settle on for your first one? I play the piano and keytar myself and am looking to get an accordion.
@michaeledwards710111 ай бұрын
@@Nathriel 72 bass or higher is a good choice so you are not restricted with the bass notes. Any accordion brand is a good first accordion, but would recommend used european made over chinese.

There are organs with two or three layers of keys, there are instruments with entirely different rhythmic requirements (drums, for example) there's the theremin... You can find difficulty in almost anything.
