Thank you for your awesome video. Having watched this video and some previous ones, I was wondering if the following sentences you taught in your different videos are correct. I guess they say the same thing. 1) I am happy to have passed. 2) I am happy about having passed. 3) I am happy that I have passed. 4) I am happy inasmuch as I passed. 5) Having passed, I am happy. 6) I am happy, having passed. 7) I am happy having passed.

Teacher A teacher taught the passive with the gerund online. But, the way he converted the active voice into the passive voice was not digestive. See his examples: He likes teaching. Active voice He turned the sentence into the passive the following way: He likes being taught. How? In the active sentence, he acts as a teacher. While in his passive voice, he turns himself as a learner. I suggest he should gave frames the sentence the following way: He likes the students being taught. This sentence fulfils his wish of teaching. I await your clarification. Regards Hyderabad - India

@BreakingEnglish 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, the second one the teacher gave is in passive voice but it isn't necessarily the passive voice form of the entire sentence before it. To really do that would mean inverting subject and object and changing the verb form. Maybe the teacher was just showing how the verb in the original sentence could become a gerund passive. Your sentence was also correct

She is happy about having passed. She is happy to have passed Is this both correct mam?
@yadayadajmr1
@yadayadajmr1 3 жыл бұрын
Hello, Mohit, yes, these are both correct. The difference is this that when you use a preposition after any adjective, you must use a gerund, but when you do not use a preposition after an adjective, you will need to use an infinitive form of a verb. That is because after adjectives, you usually will need the infinitive form of a verb. Again, that is unless you have a preposition after that adjective. Prepositions always require a gerund form of a verb after them.
