I finally did this. And then I didn’t realize you need to go into my vehicle and adjust the second bowers eq in there as well as the one in media. I only did media and was wondering why it didn’t sound different at all. Then one I found the one under my vehicle and turned the bass up. Holy shit. Hifi system is now plenty for me.

If you want to get even better sound do the following in addition to your coding: head unit> Expert mode> audio system > change it from hifi to individual sound. You are going to get even more improved sound stage and it will sound more surround feeling.. im an audiophile and pretty satisfied. Only additional upgrade im going to do is replacing subs for better lows.

@@ozanazis5685 yeah but I ended up reverting the code and instead I did what Muhammed wrote in the comments and changed from Hifi to Premium. it's pretty much just doing a DSP/filter change sounds about the same as when I did the coding from B&W coding just without the B&W menu which doesn't matter since the sound profile wouldn't save on my car anayway

@@z_fluffy I put also variant 04 and premium hifi but i find it a little under quality at low volume. And the BW menu was for nothing, options there didn't worked. I coded also sport automatic transmission and i find it to keep gears longer and at kick down until the click to don't downgrade the gears. Overall i feel less fuel consumption. Didn't reached out to code launch control with flag in kombi and also engine coolant temperature, i have only oil

I ended up getting an aftermarket amp installed to help out a bit. would recommend bimmertech if you wanna do any speaker or amp upgrade. honestly these coupes are so small and have so few speakers that it's not gonna match up to a sedan sized car quality. plus the signal the Hifi amp gives out will always be weak based on what I've read that's cool man hopefully isn't affecting any hardware by doing that transmission coding. only mods I've done are Bimmertech speakers and a new amp. hope you enjoy the car bro

But you have to be careful because it changes the filtersettings of the speakers, so there is the possibility to damage your speakers because they are too weak

I did this today, and the High End Audio had a a slightly different name, but both had the volle insz option which I selected, I did this and hit code. The stereo sounds incredible, but I have no tone profiles I don't see Bowers and Wilkens, I drive a 2022 BMW 530e. Did it not work to its full potential? I see the volle insz is selected when I go back into bimmercode so I'm a bit lost.

Did this in my 18 540 layer the day I turned my car off and the head unit was extremely hot and had a blower motor running that wouldn’t turn off behind the head unit even after car was fully off sounded like the motor was trying to cool something off so I coded it out and fixed it

Thanks for sharing, I appreciate the time and effort that goes into these things. I will give this a try. I previously had “base audio” or “stereo” with this car, so that meant no front door sail tweeters, just front mids, no front centre and no rear door speakers, just rear shelf mids. I installed an aftermarket set up (audiotech-fischer match) so now have front tweeters and rear shelf coaxials, a DSP / amp where there was none before. Also upgraded underseat subs. A real improvement, but will see if this improves it any further. Just a little curious as to why it says Bang & Olufsen there?

Just tried this today on my 2020 g20. Menu was slightly different and the Bowers and Wilkerson does not show up on the volume display when adjusting the volume but it seems to work. I will run it for a couple of days to verify…could be placebo because I want it to work so badly lol. EQ and extra sound profiles are now active. Agree that the sound system in BMWs is by far the most disappointing part of these otherwise great cars.

Yeah, I'm not gonna do that... Factory hifi uses an analog amp in the trunk and it uses the speaker wires as balanced low level outputs that feed the amp. Bowers and Wilkins uses a digital amp in the trunk and it's connected through MOST. When coded to B&W the speaker wires revert from balanced low level output to speaker level so you're basically feeding the factory amp too much voltage and you will fry the thing after some time. Also none of the extra tone settings work properly since with B&W these happen in the B&W amp in the trunk, not in the head-unit. So all you get is a useless interface and an amp that's getting too much power when doing this. Also for some reason you get a Bowers & Wilkins tone interface that says "Bang & Olufsen", the high end audio system in previous generation cars so you immediately notice something iffy is going on here. It's a hard pass, thank you...

Yeah that's not how it works. People have been running this coding change for years and have not had any issues. If you have proof, with a multimeter, that the voltage changes, by all means bring it up. But voltage isn't necessarily a factor on amps sucking more power, thats actually amps, which doesn't affect a system as they only draw amps as necessary. All amps and most car modules, run on a voltage RANGE not a meticulously static voltage. That is by DESIGN, becauses batteries and alternators go up and down on voltages continuously at all times.

@@VictorEstrada It switches the speaker wires on the back of the head-unit between low-level (let's call it RCA output level for sake of ease) to high level (speaker level) when you code it from analog Hifi to either anything digital (HK, B&O, B&W) or base audio. Only when coded to Hifi, the speaker wires output a balanced low level signal that's used by the amp in the trunk. All the other options output a speaker level signal to those wires. So you are feeding an analog amp that expects RCA inputs speaker level inputs. When you do it with HK nothing serious will happen since both are digital over MOST but doing it with a Hifi amp wil overload the amps inputs. BTW, I'm not talking about the power delivery to the amp, that's something completely different...

If that were the case, giving it it a bit of volume would ma, it out and also make it sound like crap, to the point where people would switch it back, and advice everyone not to do it, but that is not the case. It sounds just fine, and all it changes is the tunning, and that may include a slight increase in volume, which is normal. Also, not sure where you get your info from, I had the regular basic audio on my old X5 E70, and that still ran through MOST. I ended up using the speaker level output from the factory amp in the back through a harness, and then used a AudioControl LC2i to bring it down.

@@VictorEstrada When you consult a BMW wiring diagram you will see that base audio runs speaker level out of the head unit directly to the speakers without use of an external amp. Hifi (base in the US) consists of an analog amp through balanced outputs from the headunit over the speaker wires. All the others run through MOST to the amp, yet when coded to any of those the unused speaker outputs will revert to speaker level. This has been the case for any BMW ever since the E65 up to the models with RAM module from around 2020. MOST however is connected to the head-unit in all cases but on base or hifi it's only used for communication with the rest of the car, not for feeding the amp...
