Who in their right mind could give a "thumbs down" to Tom's instruction and this teaching method? I mean, seriously? I love this. It's 100% exactly what I've been searching for, the correct pathway to a simple & consistent swing. Thank you Tom. I have been a subscriber at Saguto Golf for the past month after a 15yr layoff from golf. I have rebuilt my swing using your swing techniques Tom, and I can not thank you enough for the invaluable tips and how simplified you have made learning and putting to practical use this method. In one month, I have gone from scoring over 120 for 18 holes to the low 90's consistently. No joke. I am currently working on viewing your chipping, pitching, and putting videos on your subscription site. I have no doubt Tom I will soon be scoring in the 80s very soon. My confidence in my swing is at a point where I am now eager to get to the tee box, and my accuracy hitting fairways is better than ever. I have cured my slice and usually hit a baby draw. You are an amazing instructor, Tom. I, for one, appreciate all the hard work you put into making these videos.

Glad you enjoyed this lesson! Indeed, an effective, repeatable golf swing is built on a compilation of personal "feels" that are unique to each of us individually. Over time we ingrain these feels into a complete motion that we can execute without need for mechanical thoughts. We are then able to simply allow our ball striking and shot shape to be our guide, making only occasional minor setup tweaks when necessary. That is what it means to "take ownership of YOUR swing". I hope you were able to reverse things and get your game back! This is my honest review of your lesson I am a relatively new golfer . Actually a 1-2- time a year golfer . Only when someone who played golf came to visit me here in Florida . I Just started really playing in March of this year I can work with my driving not too bad but could not hit a iron more than 25% of the time i was getting frustrated beyond belief . To the point of thinking I'm just not made for this sport I watched minimum 20 videos on how to swing an iron and tried them Time After Time nothing helped by going to the driving range or playing golf at least three times a week. I watched your video probably 10 times today and last night practicing in my living room I went to the driving range today to implement all of your tips I tried to remember everything you said and a quarter of the way through the bucket of balls I was still hitting 25% and missing the rest and slowly put every step of your instruction into my swing no exaggeration I was hitting 90% of the time beautiful Loft and probably 20% more distance than. The few times I . Connected with the ball I was going to go to a golf pro but now I don't think I'm going to because some of your tips are unconventional For the by-the-book golfer and I don't want him to poison your recipe of success and to say I'm ecstatic would be understatement. thank you Tom!!

Hey Tom Did build that net yourself ??? Your teaching truly simplifies the golf swing . Im still trying Tommy I subscribe and have watched your three points video over and over this video makes great sense too. I think practicing even without a ball is slowly developing a tension free swing for me which is a key to proper swing path and in turn KFC ball striking experience.Until then the struggle continues but not to be deterred I have seen results from your instruction and I am not ready to give up .

I sincerely appreciate your kind words, and I'm very glad to know that my lesson content and teaching style are resonating with you and providing clarity and simplicity in the muddied, overly complicated, oft-conflicting realm of golf instruction. Yes - The net is a DIY job. It is approximately 7’ tall and 8’ wide. We used this video as a starting point - kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y6GUYqSpaaplipI - and then made some other minor PVC support structure modifications to suit our needs. We did not use PVC cement as this allows us to easily disassemble it if necessary. The netting we used is 10' x 10' golf cage impact net purchased from Amazon, and it differs from the screening material in the video. (By the way, if using a net like we did you probably won’t need the screw hooks that are mentioned in the video - bungees should suffice.) Also, I have a Real Feel 3x5 Country Club Elite® Golf Mat. I love the feel of it as well as its durability. You can visit them here - www.RealFeelGolfMats.com. This is the best golf lesson I ever had. I wish Ben Hogan book explained this.
@SagutoGolf4 жыл бұрын
I truly appreciate your kind words, Edwin, and I'm very glad to know that you benefited from this lesson video! Mr. Hogan is recognized by many as being the greatest ball striker of all time, and yes - he certainly did make great contributions to the world of golf instruction and remains popular in that realm today. Of particular noteworthiness in this regard is his book "Five Lessons - the Modern Fundamentals of Golf" that you referred to. There's a lot of great information in that book, but there have also been many misinterpretations that have led numerous golfers - and their ball flight - astray. I do my best to take what Mr. Hogan conveys in the book as his "feels", apply it to the reality of what he actually did in his swing, and translate it into something we all - including myself - can learn well from. If we get Hogan right there is tremendous and timeless instructional value to be garnered!! Thanks again! Tom

@SagutoGolf2 жыл бұрын
I'm very glad to know that my instruction is resonating well with you, James - excellent job incorporating these lessons into your swing!! As I explain to folks, we can either simply put the already existing natural laws to work for us, or we can twist, morph, torque, contrive, and otherwise mess with the principles of physics and geometry in an effort to better suit some ill-conceived whims, all the while recognizing that at the point of impact those pre-existing laws are going to be the only things that matter to the ball! Thanks for sharing your success, keep up the great work, and have fun out there!! Tom

@@SagutoGolf Hey Tom, very cool that you would take the time to reply. Funny how we all seem to want to over complicate the golf swing. I was actually beginning to think I lacked the talent to hit a golf ball well. I couldn’t figure out why I sucked at it so badly. Turns out I was just doing the wrong thing very consistently. What your instructions corrected: 1) Incorrect position at address. Instead of positioning the shaft handle near the inner left thigh at address (right hand swing), I leaned it forward toward the target thinking I was doing myself a favour. Consequently, I experienced lots of thin shots as I topped the ball. Beginning the backswing from the correct address position led to a consistent and concentric circle, striking the ball first and then the ground. 2) Understanding tilt. Now I start every swing mindfully dropping the left shoulder and staying centred as I rotate the hips, weight staying forward. 3) Correcting Grip. My right hand was not positioned over the top of left hand losing ball compression. 4) Giving up tension and control in the swing. My most smoking shots are when I let the centrifugal force of the club do the work. I wish you much success with your channel because you certainly deserve it. Your fun approach to teaching is very inspiring. Keep up the great work you are doing!! James

Outstanding, another golden moment for the archive. It's funny how in the process of learning you put together the building blocks, but something doesn't quite fit; for whatever reason, and it's different for everyone. i really like this episode lesson. What do you think about the concept of shutting the door on the ball? Your on the mark with tension. i found that if i think about shutting a door on the ball it helped me feel the swing. thanks. I am giving up control.. Cheers.
@SagutoGolf Жыл бұрын
An effective, repeatable golf swing is best built on a compilation of personal "feels" that are unique to each of us individually and which fit within the boundaries of our swing system - such as your valid feel of "shutting the door on the ball". Over time we ingrain these feels into a complete motion that we can execute without need for mechanical thoughts. We are then able to simply allow our ball striking and shot shape to be our guide, making only occasional minor tweaks when necessary. That is what it means to "take ownership of YOUR swing". Give up control to gain control, and keep up the great work!! Cheers, Tom

Great lesson. I think where it goes wrong for most is doing this with a weak grip, i.e. open not soft grip, then start to control the swing to close the face instead of fixing the grip. That's what I've done all my life...

That grip is our only connection to the devices that are going to make or break our day, Jason, so you are absolutely correct - we've got to get it right!! Cheers! Tom

I needed to hear this. Every time I go to the range I sit there and over think my swing to the point that I'm super tense. After $5 of balls my lower back starts getting tight and my hands get so sore. Excited to try this and see how different my body feels after a session at the range.

I'm very glad to know that this lesson resonated well with you! This is a very body-friendly motion as supported by the fact that a significant percentage of my online school members are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, arthritis, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them. It all begins with a proper setup which provides for a free-flowing motion. Upon that good foundation a repeatable swing which produces consistently crispy impact can be built. Have you looked into the comprehensive, structured, sequential learning platform of the online school yet? That's where - among many other courses and lessons covering various aspects of the game - you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step from setup to finish. Thousands of folks across the globe and spanning all age ranges and talent levels are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result, and I'm happy to let their unsolicited testimonials tell the story: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. And here's a link to my free mini-course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker” if you’re interested in checking it out: go.saguto.golf/ You don't need the flexibility of a Romanian gymnast - or even of this far less pliable golf instructor - to execute this swing, experience great ball striking, and reclaim - or even exceed - yardages from years past. I hope you'll give the school some thought. Embrace the challenge of this greatest of games and have fun out there!! Tom

Bump. Been with your program for about 6 months, was getting better then worse. Super frustrated!! Shot low 90s for a while and thought I was about to break thru, then went back into the 100s. I was so tense trying to crush the ball and thinking about weight on the lead side, shoulder down, hands back, hit from the bottom... started snap hooking like 80 percent of my shots. I was ready to publicly curse you Tom. But, I went back and watched this video and a light bulb went off. Went to the range and hit roughly 250 balls and wasn't fatigued at all and was in awe. It was so easy! I could actually feel the clubhead in the swing and the ball flight was manipulated by the swing path or stance (still got work to do there). My distance actually was much longer even though I'm literally swinging with maybe 10% of the effort. It's almost zero effort really. Just hoist the clubhead around behind you and let it fall back thru the ball like a pendulum. It's insane! I think this may truly be the secret to golf.

At 3:55 in this video you are saying 4 out of 10 on the grip, but in your mini course on Saguto golf (video 2 - the grip) you are saying 8 out of 10 on the grip at marker 4:28. Which grip pressure is correct?
@SagutoGolf3 ай бұрын
Grip pressure is something that is very unique to each of us, which is why conveying personal "feels" in this regard can be quite challenging. For example, a 2 out of 10 “baby bird” grip to a strong guy like Sam Snead (who was credited with the term) may equate to an 8 or 9 out of 10 to another golfer. We definitely don't want that handle swimming around in our hands because we're so loosey goosey that we can't control the clubface. Instead, we have to build that critical arm structure so that the big muscles can take control of the swing from start to finish. This is how we create our consistent, powerful ball striking "machine". In actuality, a secure grip - and not a "death grip" - is what we are after so that the hands, wrists, and arms can simply react to the motion. This prescription will certainly resonate differently for different folks, but the key is that our grip pressure should give us complete control of the club while not introducing swing-killing tension that prevents us from properly executing the motion and/or robs us of speed potential. Combine that with maintaining our upper arm connection points and we can then hit the autopilot button and let the machine do its thing! Tom

Hi Tom trying to adopt your philosophy of the golf swing and beginning to improve after many years of frustration.One question I have in one of the vids is you have the left hand flat address with the club and arm as one , whereas in another one the left hand is cupped with the right being flat . Which do you recommend.?Thanks Old Man Dave (UK) shame you don’t operate in the UK
@SagutoGolf4 жыл бұрын
Hi Dave - Thanks to the worldwide web I operate globally! 😂 Not sure which two videos you are comparing. Assuming I was not playing around with my grip, the ball position and the type of shot I was hitting have a lot to do with the look. For example, if I'm hitting a shorter iron or trying to play more of a draw I will typically position the ball further back in the stance, giving the left hand that "flatter" appearance, whereas it may have a more "cupped" appearance with a forward ball position. Hope that helps! Cheers! Tom PS: Have you thought about enrolling in my online school? For just $10/month it'll get you on the fast track towards kissing that frustration goodbye as you lock down this swing through short, simple, step-by-step videos. Tom, how do you keep the hands and arms out of the swing and just use your body. I have been an arm swinger forever. Please advise. Thanks
@SagutoGolf Жыл бұрын
This can be difficult at first for a habitual arm swing, but it will be worth it. If we pre-establish the connections properly in the setup and have a foundational base that facilitates a full centered turn without restriction, then once we've ingrained the correct actions through sequential drilling and repetition we can entrust the motion to the big muscles and allow the arms, wrists, hands, and club to simply go along for the ride and respond accordingly as if on autopilot. The power accumulators - including the proper arm, wrist, and hand action - will then naturally load and fire with no contrived manipulations or precise timing necessary, thereby returning the face to the position pre-established at address. It's called "giving up control to gain control", and it's the formula for consistently blissful ball striking and seemingly effortless power. Here are a few lessons on this topic: - kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z3evnmlte9NrZ68 - kzbin.info/www/bejne/iJerammqitNpotU - kzbin.info/www/bejne/fZ7Cg6eJfcd7bsU Would you like to learn some key aspects of the swing I teach in a more structured manner?
