Wow, I have to try this! I've seen people use a fog machine with regular ice cubes before, but I've never thought about using dry ice to cool the fog coming from your fog machine. Brilliant!
@NihilQuest10 жыл бұрын
Looks great! I love how the fog moves on the floor and kicks CGI effects in the ass at the same time. That's the way I want my SCI-FI to look! Classic opening scene with Josh I might add. I saw expensive fog machines that were especially for the purpose of having low smoke and I never thought it was possible to just cool down the smoke to get the exact same effect. I'm tempted to try this thing on a stage with my band. People use the smoke all the time but this thing... well... it just smokes!

Hey Ryan! I ordered a t-shirt and poster from you, from the deals you had on your website. They came in today which was great because today is my 20th birthday! I looked at the poster and I was so shocked that you and the team (or whatever they're called) took the time to sign it. I just gotta reach out to you and say thank you. It's such a great unintended birthday present! -Cody

0:37 - 0:58 The most epic sci-fi scene I've ever seen. It's so simple and so captivating. Red light, blue fog, some torch and an actor. Your scene is done. Film Riot The level of epicness matches hollywood movie anyday.
@FlorianFahrenberger10 жыл бұрын
Looks fogging amazing! I tried the same trick with normal ice for a scene. It also works for the fog, but the ice kept melting and dripping out my cooler... that's why dry ice is a brilliant idea! Also: Hot lights are bad for this! I tried to work with a 1K close to the floor and it basically blew my fog all through the room in a few seconds.

I am a photographer but we needed some fog for a shoot sort of last minute. We basically cut a hole in each end of a regular bag of ice and put the fog machine right up to one of the openings. The other end of the ice bag we attached a piece of dryer vent we "borrowed" from the house we were shooting in. It all worked perfectly and it was super cheap.

For my A-Level film I had a scene which called for a smoke filled gambling den (you know the cliche) and I happened to be sitting right by the smoke machine. Now, being that we'd never used one before, my mates decided to dump the combined juice of about *4 hours* worth of liquid in there which (through some fluke of thermals) shot right up my suit sleeve and out into my face. All while I was puffing on a *gigantic* cigar which seemed to put out more smoke than a Volvo, and struggling to figure out why the person picked to choke out lines while being smoked like ham was the only person with asthma. Best A-level by far.

Hey guys it helps if you put the PVC a few inches away from the fog machine. It helps generate more fog and it still goes directly into the cooler. I used the bucket, pvc, and regular ice method because I found that dry ice tends to get a shell of ice on it and stops working.

@kulmajaba10 жыл бұрын
PROTIP: You can do the same with normal ice or snow, flexible aluminium ventilation pipe and a bucket. Extend the pipe and coil it into the bucket/container so that it runs along the walls, then dump the ice in the middle. Preferably in a bag so you can easily take it out later. This way even though dry ice is a lot cooler at -79°C the normal ice has more time to cool down the fog and you get the same effect. Squash the end of the pipe into a slit and you're good to go. Also, dry ice is so cold hat you can actually get injuries similar to burns from it so do wear gloves when handling it.

Just put dry ice into a bowl of hot water. It produces a lot of fog. The fog is carbon dioxide but I'm pretty sure it won't harm you. It is also therefore denser than air so it stays low. This will only cost you however much the dry ice is. I'm not sure if it will last as long as this method but it is definitely effective and a lot cheaper.

The best fog for this is cyro freeze by froggy fog and the pipe on the fogger nozzle like that will melt the pipe and restrict fog it works better to make the hole about 3inches then set the fogger 1to2inchces away from the hole fyi

How do you guys not know the trick (used for decades) of using a hot water urn with HVAC hose connected to create incredible, thick low lying fog that wont kick up. The urn prevents the dry ice from getting coated with water ice (insulating it) and gives a much more consistent fog level (it would otherwise drop off VERY quickly, though last longer).
