While recording a video about experimenting if preparation for Satisfactory 1.0 I came across a new method of creating circles and curves in Satisfactory with foundations, the painted beams and Nudge. As far as I can tell you can go infinitely with this. I went all the way out to a 177 foundation Radius, meaning the circle had a 2.8km diameter! This is insane!

I am an avid gamer who loves all kinds of games but there is a special place in my heart for factory, logistics and management games. I want to share that love with the world and other fans of the genres!
Satisfactory itself holds a dear place in my heart and honestly I would say it can be held up next to Minecraft on the level of pure creativity you can unleash in this game. The factory and automation as well as the logistics elements of the game just takes it to the next level. On top of that the world is beautiful and the sound design is top tier!

The reason for the numbering is known as the fencepost problem (fence post count versus beams). It's 45 because there's 22 positions *between* 23 objects in a ring, so adding one between each pair of the 23 means you will now have 23+22. And yes, you are right it is always the double minus one (because the 23rd doesn't connect forwards to a 24th, it connects back to the first). Without this trick, you can usually only make 72 segments, because one rotation is 5 degrees when you add a foundation on top of another and hold control while scrolling.

I believe the originator of this method was Relyen Gaming. He never applied it to circles in the video but I remember when he discovered it and i remember the video getting 200,000 views in a month cuz it was so groundbreaking. Very cool applying it to circles. He used it to connect roads that were at different angles. Title of video is “cleanly MERGE any foundations easily” Subbed.

And I think I literally dreamt up the final key to make it work while sleeping! EDIT: HOLY SUPPORT, BATMAN! Since I released this video yesterday it has gotten almost 3100 views, almost 30 comments, almost 40 new subscribers and close to 300 watch hours. More importantly, more people are joining the Discord tohang out and be nerds about circles in a game with square building blocks! ❤Thank you all for the insane response and support for this video, I love you all and stay tuned for more awesome stuff in the future!

It would have been so much better if Coffee Stain had built circles in their game. It is already a life consuming game, imagine building a large circle. It is the same with the vertical control of bases. There should be a more accurate vertical (and horizontal) nudging possibility.

Yea it's always been the method for aligning roads and on and off world grid foundations. But for circles its always been road barriers and the ctrl method and catwalks. There was like some weird overlap of the methods and the problems presented. In my brain it just finally clicked and became the same problem :P

For a 100% vanilla game this is great ... but there've been mods for circular/curved foundations for ages now. More QoL feature than cheat imo, so why not use a mod for curves in 1.0? It's so much less hassle ... You can also use beams to align half-foundations at pretty much any angle you want. Blueprint the variations you use frequently and you don't even need a mod for quick smooth curves. Still a good video, tho. Always nice to see ppl sharing their discoveries with the community.

Nice job! I really hope this does blow up as I'm sure plenty of people will have some crazy plans for the larger circles. The smooth circles look great, and I'd love to use them for something. But what? I often want to fill them in and build on it, but between the z-fighting and texture overlaps, it looks horrible. I'll probably just make a big ring, stick a train and some trucks on it and let it go round for fun, just so I can say I used this :D

Good to discover. But yeah there is a video out there somewhere, that did cover going out further and using indeed beams to adjust the percentage angle. Making it possible to make smoother corners. Also when you drag it back in. Even adding things like pillar versions of the circle. I wish I could remember who the content creator was. But whatever nothing wrong with rediscovering a trick, and I'm sure it will be new for most of the viewers.

if you zoop from the outer circle inwards you can do it, so for example if you want a circle that is 17 foundations, first build the 23 foundatino one, then zoop 6 blocks in from that, remove everything you dont want and boom, perfect 17 foundation radius
