I’m looking into renting a car for Jeju this summer. How was it navigating the roads? Was the rental process fairly easy?

with lotte rentacar it was easy. they had a foreigner(외국인) number (like you know how dmvs and stuff have you draw a number and wait for it to be called?) and if you choose it, theyll use english with you lol i wanted to make a video about the experience renting a car but it all happened so fast. at the airport theyll have stalls for the rentacar places and theyll give you instructions for where to get on the shuttle bus (lotte gave us english instructions) we were still kind of confused though so we just watched for a bus to say lotte on it lol the buses have the logo of the company it is for. also, ppl will scan their phones... but its just for an early checkin with the dealership. the shuttle is free. we were so confused cause we thought itd be free but then it looked like ppl were paying and we were like 😱😱

for the roads though.... kinda crazy. some roads are only big enough to be a one lane road but its actually going both directions... so you end up driving on the shoulder or pulling over to wait for someone to pass or missing your turn cause you cant tell if you can drive on that road in that direction haha. it was kinda scary for me at times cause theres only 2 lane roads where i live. i dont even have 4 or 3 lane roads. and the traffic is heavier than my hometown so i really wasnt well equipped to be thrown into certain situations but aside from being confused and nervous at times... it really wasnt that bad or hard... just different. and i adapted quickly to it :) i 100% recommend renting a car on jeju if possible cause youll get more out of your time there. i hope you have fun on your trip!

This comment is too late to help but I'd be interested to hear about your experience. I came across multiple intersections that have no lights or signs. I asked my Korean wife what to do and she said drive carefully. Nice place to visit but can be a bit confusing if driving.
