Developed by NanaOn-Sha for PlayStation 1, PaRappa the Rapper is a rhythm based game developed in collaboration with Masaya Matsuura. With artwork by Rodney Greenblat, PaRappa the Rapper was released in Japan in 1996, and in North America and Europe 1997.
The game takes place over 6 stages. In each level PaRappa must rap along to the song of the teacher. The master lays down a beat and the player must press the corresponding button. If the player is accurate, points are scored. Consecutively good or bad rapping will affect the U Rappin rank. There are 4 ranks, Awful, Bad, Good, Cool.
