Something I need to try. 99% of my workouts are just running at a comfortable pace.

On 80% should be💪🏼 the rest should be higher intensity

Is the last set suppose to be the fastest or furthest in this case ? I attempted this today and it was brutal! Just the recovery during the two mins is brutal

Round 3 is where you go for -the time it took in Round 2- and try to cover more distance than achieved in Round 1…fatigue is the enemy here…

@@motivationtheoryrunning what are the long term benefit's of this ? Just vo2 max?

Darn, i was hoping the Sugar Cane Protocol involved eating something made from sugar cane. 😂😂 Unfortunately, with my high BP issues, 100% effort is something I save for the finish line... where there's usually medical professionals around! 😂

Be careful you don't pull or tear something! This looks an awful lot like some of the Army training I once had to do. Remember you're not 20 anymore :)

I still turn it up often enough, that it’s not way out of bounds and I still strength train. It’s only recommended to do once every 2-4 weeks…so that’s good😀

Anything Huberman is sus. He presents himself as an expert on everything which isn’t what scientists are.. they are experts at a very narrow range. He is trying to be an influencer and will spout nonsense rather than say “I don’t know”. Is this particular method an effective magic way of improving your vo2 max? I don’t know 😊
@motivationtheoryrunning7 ай бұрын
Well he didn’t create it…Kenny Kane did…

@@motivationtheoryrunning but you heard it from Huberman selling it as a way to improve your vo2 max, yes? I am saying to think that huberman somehow evaluated this as an actual effective way to improve the metric isn’t what happened. Might it be good? idk, might it be bad, idk. Neither does Huberman. It might be enough to improve but it might be ineffective. That is all I’m saying. Research Huberman a bit more, you’ll see what is up.

@Smashycrashy in this instance it’s kind of common sense. I’m a certified ultra running coach and have been running for 20 years and done this work out…it’s good.

First... no normal person can sprint for real for 2 minutes. There are multiple research papers weighing different interval protocols. There's a podcast (can't find it currently) where multiple coaches discussed this. Anything from 30 sec on, 30 off, to the Norwegian 4x4. Results almost the same! Mix it up. I'm currently doing 2 sets of 6 reps of 30/30 with 5 min jog between. Quick, relatively painless on my 64 year old body.
