This inspired me. The doubts, the judgement, and even after feeling my music is nothing. You really made me realize that the only person that really should be happy about this music is me. I build my craft and my own style and you made me realized that even though its hard for every artist. You really have to believe in yourself and things will get better. Thank you for the wake up call Adam. Patience is key and hard work pays off.

This video was PERFECT, man. You literally spoke about ALL the things that cross my mind about creating & growing music, and being parallel to the music business. I'm 29, & sometimes feel like time isn't on my side with how long I've been making music sporadically with minimal direction sometimes. But this was one of those 1st steps to get me back on the grind & work for it. Thanks, Adam!

And just to add that totally agree with your advice. In modern times a lot of folk believe they have the right to be a celebrity, maybe because they can sing or have a certain look. This is total bollocks. What they forget is the artists back in the day worked tirelessly gig after gig. Even the Beatles worked every night singing covers. Doing five hour sets and even had to travel over to Germany to get their name out there. We have to make our own luck and work as hard if not harder than the next guy. And most of all never give up. That’s what sets the big players apart. Some artists don’t make it until their fifties. Cheers again!! :)

Lately I have been feeling really down because I am filled with a lot of doubts and nobody seems to believes in me, so I do feel really alone most of the time. Great video, great advices, and definitely on point. A lot of us already knows what you said here but we don't always apply. Because while learning and observing the other artists in the industry, from time to time you notice a few kids who achieve in 2 years with no efforts what you haven't made in 20 of hard work. It contributes to the global frustration and the feeling that music industry is unfair and sometimes makes us lose our focus .. I say "we" but i should say "I" actually :). Cheers man. I tried working with bands/artists/producers but majority of them were ALWAYS somewhat busy. I don't have time to wait to accomplish my dreams. At least not like they do. Time to walk the walk! NO MORE TALK. This is exactly why I became and audio engineer as an artist. No one will ever care as much for you as YOU do. Not saying you gotta be selfish or be lonely, just be confident in your skills and you just gotta know what you're really worth to yourself if it seems like no one can help you. You must support yourself most importantly. I would really love to work with you on a project (whatever it may be) one day man. That's a bucket list goal of mine! Adam Thanks. I hate this notion that people have that they are going to take the world by storm. Sure it happens and yes it is everyone's dream but most of us do this one step at a time with blood sweat and tears. I have been engineering for over 30 years. I have always toyed with the idea of owning a recording studio but I have seen so many fail. I am not a marketing tycoon. I have a very specific craft and I love it. I do it in my sleep (30+ years after I started) I may end up with a full on studio, I may not. Early on I realized I don't need gear. What I need is readily available whenever I have need of it. What I need is to do what I do better. There has never been 1 day when I could not say I think I can do it better yet. This is only because I have spent my life trying to learn how to "do it better". You said it. There are scouts and A&R reps etc. They are looking for "another good man". We just need to be the next good man that they need. You will notice I used the word "BE" here. That isn't to be confused with "think I can or believe you can". There is no room for maybe here. I get all of my work via word of mouth. I have found sales pitches don't mean anything in our industry. It is all about "Proven Track Record". They don't like to risk an already risky project on risky talent and that is why "the Usual Suspects" get all of the gigs. They do it every day and everyone knows if they hire them it is going to happen. Every chance we get is a chance to prove one more time that "we can". We need a whole rap sheet of "yes, he cans". No brochures, no fancy cards, no discounts or kick backs can help them to see what they are needing to know. In the words of NIKE "Just do it"!!! The only way to success is "nose to the grindstone". Sharpen the knife until it is the sharpest ever, then do another, and another, and another. Eventually someone is going to notice.

Hey Adam, please don’t sell yourself short in terms of your video length despite the analytics (even though I totally get the idea of refining an effective message for videolog content). FYI, I’ve never skipped a video of yours based on seeing the length before viewing. And I venture to say that we can truly see that you’ve thought a lot about your message and that we are getting your perspective, in your voice. If it takes a few different ways to describe a given point, then I’d look at those as being opportunities for someone to connect. One way may click for me and another may make sense to that person, and so on... On a side note, any ideas on a “year in review” type of video as were getting closer to wrapping 2018? Take care and thanks a bunch for your channel!

Nevermind if you're 16 or 60. Always treat your fellow musicians and producers with respect and dignity, no matter the genre, no matter the level of skill. You'd rather be remembered as a decent, humble yet professional guy.

Awesome video..I say the same thing all the time. I’m 23 years in the game...paid my dues paying to record in pro studios for years when I started till I learned enough to build my own studio and now all these years later my quality is way better than what I used to pay for. These days they don’t wanna pay to record and I try to tell then they are paying for over 20 years experience..these days they think they can buy a laptop and drop and album...no matter what..it won’t sound like what a professional can do

This advice is great! Would it be possible if you could maybe do a video on how to put your music out there,if you know what I mean, like where we should upload to? I'm knew to your channel so I'm sorry if you've already done a video about that.

Thank you so much for your words of encouragement. I did go to law school, I put in the work for that field, I acquired debt. If I could do it all over again, I probably wouldn’t go. My interests shifted. Recently I’ve started to pursue my creative stuff: podcasting, writing, creating KZbin videos. I’ve been trying to find a strategy to merge this interest with my legal background.. so all that work doesn’t go to waste. But I need to not be unintentionally entitled as you put it. With faith and effort we will get there. ❤️

Hey Adam, music make me alive now. And the office work is fun too, but I strive with making a video now. I have so much apps to learn too, but time I got then. I have my pension now, and live good on that. Music is 100% for me, and it makes my day too.
