GET OFF MY LAWN - Old Screwdriver - Brotato Danger 5 CHALLENGE

We must try to defeat the horde using only a tiny, tiny space, and a huge, huge stockpile of mines. This is a challenge that has defeated me before - can I manage it this time?

I might be in the minority, but I've found Strange Book is almost always worth it. Not only because it enables your engineering stat to go crazy high, but also because it makes strange sausage insanely good. That also opens up other items to be good like piercing, snakes, etc, so your shops also get better. On top of that you're also taking more tier 1 items, making fairy even better. It snowballs super hard

I once played through with a mix of screwdriver and wrench. It's surprisingly easy. The explosion in small map combined with a few highly upgraded turrets made the game straight forward to focusing more on survival abilities. And the rest will be done by the system itself.

Mixing the two can be good! A few turrets help a *lot* to mitigate the problems with landmines, as indeed happened here when I got the flame turrets and tyler

I think a lot of people can't win with a lot of brotatoes because your videos already have all the items unlocked. I'd be interested in watching a video series on a brand new account. Seeing danger 5 videos from the beginning and seeing the route you take (which potatoes you unlock for which items and so on). I think that would be more relateable to most viewers. Especially new players like myself.

Interesting how differentiating opinions are about this game. Many people on Reddit and Discord say that this is one of easiest options for Old, but people like you and me have struggled with this. I have yet to do this but hopefully I can do it someday. I actually struggled a lot with old. Most of the popular suggestions like screwdriver, wrench, and shotgun, just never worked for me. Ever. I had to use choppers to get my very first D5 win with this character. Since then I’ve diverged to planks, scissors, and pruners. Planks have been my personal favorite, just screwdriver but better.

To be honest, if they say this is the easiest way to win Old, I don't believe they're playing on D5 :P Screwdrivers are almost certainly in the bottom 3 weapons in the game for high difficulties, with pretty narrow exceptions (like cyborg, who can build them as melee weapons). Wrench and Shotgun are my go-to suggestions for the class, but it's deceptively hard if you don't get early harvesting, thanks to the economy penalty of low enemy spawns

I've never been able to make a pure screwdriver build work. Wrenches are easy, but screwdrivers, I always get overrun near wave 10 or so.

one question, how can i get different weapons? i pick the Ranger class and i pick the shredder/laser gun but when i go to the shop no matter how many times i reroll i always get SMG's, it doesn't even show a pistol which is the given gun, only SMG's goes the same with other characters like the brawler, you get a fist as a given and have an option to pick a hand or fist as a secondary but it only gives me fists and not a single hand

I don't understand the reasoning behind letting your % damage tank on this build. Your doing all these things that should scale well with increased % damage. While it doesn't matter against the smaller aliens, against things like ribcages, tenticles, and buff aliens in the later waves, being +10% rather than -25% could take you past the breakpoint where you're clearing tin 1-2 hits rather than 2-3. Is there an interaction with landmines and % damage that I"m not aware of yet?

Turrets and mines don't scale with % damage. All mines deal 10+100% eng. dmg. They do scale with explosion damage though.

I think passing on those Sunglasses in wave 7 wasn't optimal. Screwdrivers don't look like crit weapons because they're not Precise tagged, but they actually have a natively very high crit chance (20% at L3, 30% at L4), and sure enough that very shop you rolled a Tentacle to start improving your healing.

The crit chance only applies to the actual weapon attacks, which won't be very useful for much longer - similarly tentacle, since we'd need to actually kill stuff with a weapon crit for it to proc. Overall I'd rather have the armor and money.
