I appreciate that you are a bjj guy but you recognize that the answer is not always inverted berimbolo to something-oplata and that it's ok to want to stand up and punch somebody.
@KnightJiuJitsu6 жыл бұрын
100% correct man. And I think most BJJ guys realize the context whether they train for it or not. The training is the thing 👍
@hard2hurt6 жыл бұрын
Knight Jiu-Jitsu yeah maybe I was a little unfair to the pajama guys haha. I know that anyone good understands it if they thought about or were asked... you're right it's just that it gets less attention during training/mat time.
@KnightJiuJitsu6 жыл бұрын
No doubt. To me the only real problem is when sport players think they have all they need to seamlessly transition to a fight. The same can be said for self defense guys that think they can compete against high level sport guys with just their mode of training. It’s ok for people to recognize the difference, and even a good thing. I just wish there was more agreement for the benefits of each and how each can help the other, as well as where the overlaps and differences reside. Whether than just feuding and I fighting between factions. Not saying anything in contrast to your statement. Just adding more opinions into the conversation. Thanks for the great comments!!!

Getting up and getting the hell out of a bad situation is probably a good idea too. And makes you look good if you end up in court. Duty to retreat etc makes you look like you are not the aggressor. :)

Honestly,i dont know why i just came across ur content, i was always looking for someone who focuses mainly on self defense aspect of the art, i dnt care about those fancy movements that works only in competition or sparring where strikes are not in the equation. Ur material is spot on and i love the fact that u dnt put too much emphasis on finishing with a submission but more on standing upand getting the# out of there, and thats pretty much the thing abt street fights where u dnt know exactly wht situation u are in( like friends around, familly nearby, weapons nearby...etc). U got a sub here. Keep up the good work sir.

Love these...practical and universal. When somebody knee on bellys me it is like they push a button. I immediately use my same side knee too push them forward while at the same time hipping out and grabbing there leg they used on my belly, like a single leg...often taking top position. Your move will give me another tool for those that learn my trick ;)

Excellent moves!!! I often use that stiff arm/bump to the hips to escape mount - sometimes it can get you right out (pulling the knees in or literally throwing the guy off) - one question, if he’s knee on belly punching you in the face, isn’t he already mad? 😆

Love your stuff mate, also bjj guys and Even a lot of MMA fighters have a tendency to just pin themselves or accepting a position instead of just scrambling and looking to stand up back to an even position or top game

I really liked this video. I'm just curious as to why you initially disregarded the value of stomping kicks to the knees from your back? I would've thought that such an attack could easily take out someone's knees?
@KnightJiuJitsu6 жыл бұрын
I think it’s a valuable tool, but shouldn’t be relied upon too heavily. I just done want anyone thinking it’s guaranteed that it will drop someone when you kick them in the knees or groin. If it does, then great, but it’s not reliable.
@BecozPro6 жыл бұрын
I can't say I've ever full power tried to kick someone's knees out from my back, but I would've thought with some of the strongest muscles in the body all lined up pushing in the same direction it would pack quite a punch (well, kick). I've seen it taught that you just line up and start kicking like you're on a maniac bicycle if there's just one opponent. Regardless, thanks for the vid and thanks for replying!
@KnightJiuJitsu6 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. And I think blasting those knees is a great idea but just not to be too concerned with the result. Get the space and get up is what I would suggest. Thanks!

How would these work with shoes on or flip flops or crox and what Environment would you think would be best to use These techniques and I just thought about how would you Escape being chocked on the ground or even some chock holds on the ground
@KnightJiuJitsu6 жыл бұрын
Good question. I don’t think normal shoes would make a lot of difference but flip flops may be a hindrance. And I don’t have a video on choke escapes on the ground yet but I have a headlocks on ground escape video close to that topic 👍

Hey Eli, I'm still a white belt, but I fell in love with BJJ ever since I started with it. I've now been doing for a year or so, and I recently startes competing. The problem is my age. I'm 15 years old, and alot of the smaller tournaments here in the Netherlands don't have a juvenile devision, which means I have to compete with the big guys. The last time I competed against adults was in February, and I got second place, but nevertheless, I feel really scared. Any tips? Thanks for your help, cheers from the Netherlands!
@KnightJiuJitsu6 жыл бұрын
Big shoutout to The Netherlands! I understand completely. Firstly, be safe when competing in those upper divisions, skill and size-wise. Training is the only real answer. Just more training. To be less generic, I would suggest being very constant in movement, which makes it difficult to deal with. Most of us are very stop and go, and constant movement is very hard to handle. Also, focus on not losing rather than winning (when dealing with much bigger or more advanced opponents). Defense first and seamless transitions between defense and offense. Hope any of this makes sense. Cheers!
@maxwillems82006 жыл бұрын
Knight Jiu-Jitsu Thanks for the advice man! I'm not even sure if I'm going to compete at all. Normally, I compete for the fun of it, but now I'm more focussed on winning and losing. Never really had this mindset, but I guess it's because of the fact that I'm going up to stronger opponents. Nevertheless I will keep this advice in mind for the future! Bedankt voor je hulp, het wordt zeker gewaardeerd! ("Thanks for the help, it's heavily appreciated" in Dutch. Just the idea of you trying to pronounce it makes me laugh, lol)

Even if you're a striker in a street fight I think that you should learn a little bit of jujitsu you because there was finishing opportunities From all lose examples Neebours arm bar Even to the point where if you are in a street fight you can break
@KnightJiuJitsu6 жыл бұрын
Excellent question! It does involve the leg so I could see it getting sweep points and being considered an open guard sweep. But since it is technically a dominant position reversal, I could see the ref not giving points. I need to get a good answer for this.

I love your videos and you break it down as much as possible but I notice KZbin does it slow where the guy is chillin or too fast to understand . I have an instructor and he does similar moves which is why I follow video. BUT YOU TUBE NEVER SHOWS A SLOW TECHNIQUE, FAST TECHNIQUE BUT THEY NEVER HAVE A BEGGINER THAT PEOPLE CAN SEEE A BEGGINER MAKE MISTAKES AND CORRECT THEM. I HAVE NO SEEN ONE VIDEO ON ANYONE WHERE A PERSON IS JUST STARTING AND PROVIDING THE PROPER RESISTANCE. I think people can Lateran better that way. I have a jui nits instructir private from my friend and meanwhile he doesn’t have black belt he’s knows his shit and he’s awesome at grappling and wrestling soWhen he became good at jujitsu he had one up on them because he Brought wrestling and the grappling with him so he was like owning black belts. But yeah that would be nice if you could show videos of beginners of people making the mistakes as they do in the moves providing with distance and correct them
@KnightJiuJitsu6 жыл бұрын
I understand what you’re saying, but the difficulty with showing that on video is that there are certain elements of that teaching method that don’t translate to video. And you risk the viewer picking up on incorrect movements of the person making the mistake without recognizing the mistake. It is a great classroom teaching method for face to face, but just doesn’t work as well on video. In my opinion and experience anyway. Thank you for the suggestion and observation though.
