From bottom of mount sometimes you can mix it up off the bridge by rolling to turtle and getting out the back door or using any of the wrestling referee position escapes. Getting stuck in turtle is bad but getting through it quickly works
@rezlogan47872 жыл бұрын
This is completely consistent with the technique we use to regain our feet. At our school we train multiple attacker drills and usually discourage going or staying on the ground. Our preferred technique is to first make space by bridging or shrimping, then attacking a vital area (eyes, striking nose) to distract, then either kicking the legs back and standing like you showed or rolling out the opposite direction and popping up to the feet. This can make it harder for a group to surround you and stomp kick if you’re taken down.
@kenf33326 күн бұрын
This would probably work too: an example of a seamless transition is, with their posture broken in guard and bottom clinch, the body lock with arms, uncross your legs, and if they try standing up they'll carry you with them, if not then push off hips with feet, and frame and push off their shoulders back to standing. Essentially a way to wrestle your way back to a technical standup with the added touch of the body lock for consistent control. Hmm, I wonder how many transitions to standing there are from bottom clinch specifically as it's the most secure position on bottom with their posture broken.

Question: is there such a thing in the scientific literature as "optimal muscle mass" for particular activity? And how one can determine it for a specific activity? Or should I just look at the most successful athletes involved in a particular activity? E.g., I do pole dancing, and the more mass I have in my body, the more mass I need to be able to lift and move in the air. So, I need less mass to be lighter, but at the same time I need more mass to be able to reach higher acceleration.

Yo Ramsey, i found a solution to your weight cutting problem: Test fighters for their water levels at the weigh ins, and if they’re below the pre-determined level then they’re not allowed to fight. The percentage is up to you, and you can make them fight at their complete natural weights by setting a high enough water percentage. You cannot cut weight without water drainage, so boom. Easy solution.

Hydration tests are the easiest to cheat. Just add water to the urine. Just have day off weigh ins right before the fight. That’s the only viable solution.

I got bloodied by a dude in 1976 on the sidewalk, he threw a cup of ice on me as we walked in opposite directions. His non-karate buddy kept pace. I turned around and assumed an absurd stance, a parody of Chinese kung-fu movies. He stopped moving for 3 seconds and sized me up and kicked the living shite outta me (on the ground) until his friend screams "He doesn't know karate!" and his aggro mentor stopped beating me. I baffled with bullshit for 3 seconds. I say it counts. My split lip got infected when I scurried to the Island and I lived long enough to develop immunity. No Ka Oi. That means, the best. Ramsey I got an idea for a video. For starters now imagine you got access to some incredible medical device like in the movie Elysium, that can instantly heal all injuries including brain damage. Ok so a group of people with no martial arts training are going to learn to fight just by fighting each other several times a day every day until they get good. And in-between fights they use that medical device. After a decade or so practicing how good do you think would be at fighting? And what do you imagine their fighting style to look like?
@RamseyDewey2 жыл бұрын
Interesting question. It’s entirely possible that we make dramatic improvement specifically because we are mortal, killable, easy to injure- and those injuries are often permanent. It creates a sense of urgency that could not exist without the consequences of violence. So while that technology would be amazing, I’m not sure it would produce next level fighters.
@rodtheworm2 жыл бұрын
@@RamseyDewey Effectively, you could end up with the equivalent of modern sport fencing compared to historical martial fencing, where the goal is often to cause the 'damage' first without necessarily worrying about defending yourself from the counter stroke a moment later because it won't matter.

The other interesting question is, if you have a machine that speeds healing to instant, could you train to absolute exhaustion, heal up and do it again? Could you cram decades worth of strength training into a year or so? How strong could you make people at early twenties with the relative training history of a life-long athlete..?

I've always thought it was kinda odd how many mixed martial artists just seem to resign themselves to playing BJJ just because they go to the ground. You don't have to if you don't want to! The ghost of Helio Gracie won't haunt you if you try to stand up instead of trying for that hail mary Americonda! Which is great and that dude is undoubtedly super good, but the effort that goes into ignoring the times he's lost on the ground is... weird. BJJ is an amazing martial art and the MA world is better for having it, but this weird polarizing effect sport BJJ has had really needs to be internally policed better, imo. I know so, so many amazing sport competitors who think BJJ is the Aryan Super Race Martial Art (tm) and that good takedowns and strikes are just a waste of time. Its wild to me that martial disciplines have become so isolated in their specialization that many just dismiss everything outside their view. The disparity between how skilled some of these folks are and their complete ignorance outside their particular discipline is absolutely jarring.
