If the roles were reversed and a white guy said the same thing about "black dudes" he would be called a racist.
@filthyspirit36355 жыл бұрын
That One. Ok what about Tim Burton? What about people who cast white people in non-white roles? Your response seems like it is an incomplete thought but I think I see what your getting at. Now my point was that if a white man said "I just can't see myself ever casting a black dude as a lead." Regardless of the context. The media would tear him apart call him a racist and his career would be over. I am sure Jordan Peele is aware of that fact. So why even say it? He is obviously pulling the race card to draw more attention to his work and it's disgusting. Yes of course there are people out there who only cast white leads such as Tim Burton. But they do not go about boasting that fact. That would be incredibly racist. Tim Burton has hardly any diversity in his movies and I think they suffer for it. I am not a Burton fan. There are also people who cast white people in non-white roles which is ridiculous. I believe the movies suffer for it but again not my point. If they went around boasting how they can't see themselves casting the appropriate race for the a script and would only cast whites, people would lose their minds. What Jordan said is just flat out racist. Check out youngrippa59 he has a short 3-4 minute vid on the subject and I totally agree with him. Jordan is an intelligent man. He knew what he was saying. I've lost respect to for him.

Peaches Kong He's not expected to cast white leads. It's not the fact that he prefers to cast black actors as leads. It's the comment. If you read my last comment more carefully you will see why the comment is prejudice. If he wants there to be a end to racism, then stop making it an issue. Cast black leads. He's black I get it. But no white director could get away with saying he only wants to cast white leads. So if you want equality be equil. It's completely unnecessary.

That is a sad truth, but Native Americans were practically killed off due to planned genocide by the US government. It is why Hollywood is so hypocritical when it comes to films dealing with racial progress. They will gladly produce a ton of films detailing the problems of African Americans because some progress has been made (though not enough). No progress has been made when it comes to Natives. Reservations and the treatment of the American Indian is a reality that inspired Hitler with his concentration camps. That narrative does not fit with the "Manifest Destiny" ideas nor the idea that "all men are created equal" when such archaic thinking and prejudice is still around in this day and age.

I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing in this instance. Much like Trump is truly the brash personality with no "trained" front, Obama actually is as cool as cucumber which is why it was necessary to go with an extreme stereotype such as this or else the bit falls flat. Stereotypes are usually rooted in some truth, but only misinformed idiots believe in blanket stereotypes of any kind so... it doesn't even really matter.
@jrjr.53116 жыл бұрын
Very incisive. However, I would posit that Obama was a little restrained in his commentary about racial issues. It was not clear to me whether that was his personality, or because the right was always waiting to pounce on him on such matters. Recall his comments in the case of Prof. Louis Gates controversial arrest right at the beginning of Obama's tenure, and how that became a right wing talking point, to the point where Obama had to call a truce, to pacify the zealots.
@wpl66616 жыл бұрын
A person who occupies that office has a restraint on them to behave in a way that is calming to the country. Look at LBJ. On camera one way. Off camera different. Each president has to take on a role that others have taken on. Like a suit that many have worn. That restraint is a part of the office because of the power imbued in it. It's why the unrestrained person currently in the office is the worst person ever in that office. He has no clue how to act presidential. None. And that is dangerous because it lowers that office. It tears at the suit. That power can negatively effect Americans not just in terms of policy but in psyche. A racist president. A xenophobic one. A sexist one. One that is unrestrained in their actions injures this country. Injures the office they hold. President Obama wore that suit extremely well. He handed it off in impeccable condition. The person who follows the current president will get the suit in far worse condition and will have to repair it.

One thing that doesn't make sense just as the character asked" Why black people?" So he says "they are in fashion" Whitch makes zero sense. So they want "only black young people" Because they are "cooler...blacker?" I had no idea being black was better or cooler. Basically he could have made this whole film with the exact same story and left out the whole black-white thing. So the story would just be old people stealing young people's bodies. So the black-white aspect serves no purpose. To me it seems sleightly offensive to demonize white people for no reason. This movie was well made and had excellent music, pacing and acting.I would have loved it if it wasn't about whites VS blacks. Love ya Jordan but..Stop calling people racists for no reason. It does the world Zero good. You heading down the road of spike lee. If I see racebaiting spike lee's name attached to a flim I will not watch it.

Oh cause im sure if a white guy did the same type of humor it’d be considered racist that’s what I mean, but regardless he’s mad funny and I like racist humor as well as dark humor so I’m good either way

@That One the definition of racism, is to single out people on the basis of race, for whatever the reason.., was this not the main the of the movie, or the Obama skit?, I just finish a court case last week, police are people. .some good some bad..., like all people, I've been wronged by bad cops, and I'm white, ..how can he call the president a racist, with no proof..., how about making a movie, about how all people can get along? , Instead about, how whites want to be black because a cording to the movie theam..", They are " Stronger faster, cooler, better..", lol, don't make me laugh...

so much more subliminality in your workings mr.peele others may not see the truth behind your work, but i have, and as a result a gateway for others to see your workings and their affiliations with certain forces will be examined. Truth shall be seen.

A black man comments on race! How original and stimulating! Thank you sooo much for going there! We really need your opinion! Why is it that Asians are blowing u all away and we never hear them cry on and on? It's because they understand personal virtue and they're strong enuf to live it by example.
@fenecofeneco195 жыл бұрын
personal virtue? What does it mean? That at the end to express themselves they need to act like black people; because they were told by parents to erase every emotions from their inner computers.They are not because they haven't been treated like blacks and because the problem is only in the media rapresentation.

Not satire, exaggerated for sure but not a satire. White obsession with black culture has been a thing for a while now, that's what this movie is about, white people trying to become black people.

I'm white, and my only thoughts on "black culture" is that it shouldn't exist -- neither should "white culture." We only need American culture in this country.
