Hey JB, good video, glad you are covering the PD outdoor line. Just wanted to comment that PD has done an amazing job on the harness system. I opted for the 45L (which carries much smaller than 45L if isn't not full (and in fact the 45L measure is with the rolltop partly used for storage)) and due to the adjustable harness and curve that's molded in to the back panel, is amazingly comfortable. The internal frame and load lifters should help manage the load in the pack. I think some of the harness features will seem familiar to some, but I suppose at the end of the day, there's only so many designs that are possible. The hiding of the hip belt is fantastic too as it provides a great option when you want to have it tucked away but in reach. The new cubes are fantastic as well.

Thanks Dave! Totally agree…the new harness is crazy comfortable for the long haul!

Thanks. How would you compare it against the shimoda explore v2?

Unfortunately I don’t have any experience with that one, but I’ll take a look sometime

Curious how you'd rate the shoulder strap/harness relative to GR and MR's Futura? Same class or not even close?
@JBOutside1Ай бұрын
Very comparable to both.

@@JBOutside1 Unfortunately, the PD 25L interior seems a bit too small for me. But on the same delivery, I got a Bozeman 27, and that works just fine. Excited to try that harness!!!!

This is my new favorite review vid of this bag - super clear and informative! My only remaining question (forgive me if I missed this anywhere), how cords / strap thingies come with the 25L (photo bundle)? Oh also, how easy is it to pull open the front flap / how much resistance does the cord-pull closure offer? I backed the 25L photo bundle, so there's another 10 days or so to make a final decision. Leaning towards yes, decided on black with green packing cubes but that "eclipse" color is also super cool. Thanks again!
@JBOutside13 ай бұрын
Good questions. Two additional cords come with each bag. Pulling the cords is a little tight initially but gets better. There’s a mechanism in there that loosens up and makes it easier to open. That eclipse color is really interesting

Hey JB! Excellent review! What’s the brand/model of the blue water bottle you have in the 45L strap pocket?
@JBOutside13 ай бұрын
That's a Salomon HydraPak soft flask. Running style hydration

Amazing detailed review about both bags and how much you can carry, one question: can the 45L carry packaging cubes with 3-5 days worth of clothes inside the front canguro pocket?
@JBOutside13 ай бұрын
Hmm, you can definitely get a packing cube in that pocket...whether it's enough for 3-5 days depends on your use of merino wool 😁

Hey JB, excellent video! Love the detailed walkthrough, just had a question… Did you happen to find any noticeable differences in comfort between the 25L and the 45L?? I’m pretty much in love with the 25L and the 45L just seems like too much bag for my needs but I haven’t seen many people discussing the difference in comfort since one is has an internal frame and the other one doesn’t. Would love to get your two cents on this 🤔. And thanks for the awesome video as always!

Great question. The harness padding is nearly identical. The adjustability is only on the 45L. That said, the 45L is sufficiently padded and comfortable at a heavy 45L carry...so you could say the smaller 25L is just as, maybe more, comfortable based on the padding. So can't go wrong either way IMHO

@@JBOutside1 that’s great to hear!! Thank you so much and keep up the great work 💪

Hi JB, great review! Just wanted to ask you how much stuff can you fit in here? For example in comparisson to GR2 (34 or 40L) or CTB 35? It seems the bag is not that big.
@JBOutside13 ай бұрын
Well these bags are 25L and 45L so on either end of the range you mentioned. The 25L is appropriately sized I'd say...and the 45L is maybe slightly under the 45L size
@franzthelarge6153 ай бұрын
@@JBOutside1 Yeah, sorry, I was talking about 45L version, forgot to mention it. So, in your opinion it is not smaller than for example GR2 or CTB35? I know the numbers say that this one is bigger, but visually it looks like it can not carry a lot of stuff. Or maybe I am wrong :D

JB can you compared this with wandrd Fernweh?

That one looks a lot different but also I haven't used it so I really can't compare them at the moment

4lbs is insane. If you're gonna carry that weight might as well bring an osprey thats rated to carry weight. The hip belt directly on the back panel which is really only held by one seam and the zippers is insane to me. Thats a lot of stress on the zippers. I wouldnt be surprised to see them recall these back for it breaking. This is more of an outside ish. Kind of like how an apple watch is for regular people that sometimes work out. Hardly and "outdoors" bag at all.
@JBOutside13 ай бұрын
ok, I hear you. It is on the heavy side and wouldn't be my choice for actually backpacking...but it way more "outdoor" compared to their standard designs
@zerousen3 ай бұрын
If you think that's insane, peak design has smaller bags that are heavier! 😅
@cristibaluta23 күн бұрын
Lighter gear is also more fragile, so... Also the waist belt is pulling the bag from the bottom, it will not break the zippers. If something will break it's on the 20L because the top of the straps are on the back panel itself and not on the main bag like the 45L

I’m thinking that North Face doesn’t have anything to worry about. These are bags begging for a purpose.
