Well by the 1660s, it's the Edo period. Japan has been trading with foreign powers, particularly the English, for over a century by now. The West provided Japan with firearm technology, which is why they started trading in the first place. So while no Western was allowed on the mainland at this point, it makes sense people like Scorpion, who is a ninja (a spy), to understand and speak English (also Spanish and Dutch). I think it's more he prefers his native language more than anything, but it's a rather polite language so...English gives a way to really show he's *pissed*

Many in 1660s Japan would have known English because by then Japan had been trading with the English for over a century by then. As a spy (aka ninja), Hanzo benefits being multilingual. So it's not "suddenly," it's simply because he is PISSED.

I'm not sure if it's intentional or not for this kind of film, but the camera composition of Scorpion has him as an one winged figure from the ice in the back ground. For me, it signifies that although Scorpion is now a demon entity, he is also an avenging angel to the family that Sub Zero took from him, and all the other earth's realm fighters that he assassinated. I dunno, that symbolism made it better for me. 😊

Also, would it have been better if Scorpion said that 'iconic' catchphrase in Japanese??? Just like how Ken Watanabe ad-libbed his lines for 2019's Godzilla: King of the Monsters when the character of Dr. Ishiro Serizawa armed a nuclear device in order to help Godzilla, saying "Goodbye, old friend." Yes... the line is awesome... iconic even... it's not Scorpion without that line. But Ed Boon didn't voice it. That's the thing about Scorpion in the games. Every single time, no matter who voices the rest of Scorpion's lines, Ed Boon ALWAYS voices 'GET OVER HERE!' and 'COME HERE!' Even in Mortal Kombat 1, where Scorpion is Kuai Liang and not Hanzo Hasashi, it's still Ed Boon's line.
