Thank you for this valuable information! but when exactly a person should do this? once before the end of each year? or only once after finishing studies? or when and how many times exactly?

Very informative. Thank you. I just have two question related to ELSTER: 1.Where should I add all these student expenses, including tuition fees, study equipment, and electronics? 2. In which form and where should I include them, as Anlage N is for business-related expenses? Is it possible to add expenses related to university studies here?
@SrijithKariyattilАй бұрын
Hey Moksh, the expenses go in Anlage N, in case of first degree studies, it should be entered as special expenses and for second degree as business expenses.

Which form should we fill to claim the semester fee in return? Kindly guide me through this.
@SrijithKariyattil28 күн бұрын
Hey, The form you need to use is Anlage N. However, the section where you need to fill in the details depends on whether you are pursuing a first degree or a second degree: For a first degree (Erstausbildung): Education-related expenses are considered as special expenses (Sonderausgaben), and there is a limit to the amount that can be claimed. For a second degree (Zweitausbildung): These expenses are classified as income-related expenses (Werbungskosten), which generally allow for a broader claim.

I have a question what if the employer is not giving the Lohnsteuer Bescheinigung. I tried taking but till the end they did not gave its been 2 years now. Can i still get the tax paid money back?
@SrijithKariyattilАй бұрын
Hey Dhanashree, what is their reason for not providing the Lohnsteuerbescheinigung?
@dhanashreepatil-nj8gfАй бұрын
@ i dont know its been 2 years. She gave me one but it says not original. I worked through agent company who provides workers in a icecream factory. I was getting paid through that agent company
@SrijithKariyattilАй бұрын
Hi Dhanashree, even if it’s not the original document, you can still use it to complete your tax declaration. All you need to do is extract the values from the respective sections and enter them into the corresponding fields in your tax declaration. :)

Thanks for the nice video! One question! I am applying for tax return as a student for the year 2021 through Elster. I didn't do any jobs in 2020 so I just had the carry loss forward for 2020. My Question is where do we add the carry loss forward amount of 2020 or the previous years in Elster form?
@SrijithKariyattil Жыл бұрын
Hey Zaid, You need to declare this as business expenses or Werbungskosten in Anlage N for each corresponding year.

Hi, Currently, I am in masters of second year. Should I file for these losses after completing the 2/3 yrs of masters and after completing 1st full fiscal year of a full time job? Or do I need to register for them immediately after completing my master's? Thanks for your answers,

Super informative video. Hi bro just a quick question, I am enrolled in a paid course. And also I have worked part time in last year. But the annual salary amount in less then 10k. So should I file an income tax this year with carrying forward the losses or can I file together at once after getting a full time job after completing my studies.
@SrijithKariyattil8 ай бұрын
Hey Mayank, Unfortunately, I am not legally allowed to provide personal tax advice. When it comes to loss carry forward for student expenses, this can be done retrospectively for up to 7 years.
@bondiliyeshesh19993 ай бұрын
Everything you explained is good but you missed one detail that might provide even a better insight on loss carry forward. You said that if a person spent 20000euros in the year 2020 for his studies ( for now lets say just tuition fee). Now let's say that all his other costs are 3k euros (commute, home office, work related expenses, semester fee etc). Now according to you when he starts working a full time job in 2021 for a gross annual salary of 50k, he will be liable for taxes for only 27k (50k - 20k - 3k). However this only applies if he has not generated any income in 2020. Meaning that if he had earned let's say 10k euros as part time, then he will be liable for taxes for 37k euros instead of 27k since he earned 10k in 2020. Please correct me if I am wrong
@SrijithKariyattil3 ай бұрын
Hey! You’re absolutely right. I was assuming the person didn’t have any income during their studies. If they did, that should definitely be mentioned when filing the tax return for that year, and then the Finanzamt will include it in their assessment. Sorry if I wasn’t clear enough, and thanks for pointing it out!

There is no separate form for Students. Information should be entered in Hauptvordruck and additional forms depending on your income and expenses.
