Great tips! I also want to throw in a tip I got from another source. Like our Mavic drones, i have ebikes that also use lithium batteries. I learned recently, that part of the reason we experience a shorter range aside from natural battery degradation is that the cells inside the battery have become ‘unbalanced’. This can be remedied by charging the battery to full and then leave the charger plugged in for another few hours. For a big ebike battery, they recommend 8 hrs. Then use the battery as normal and repeat the process. This will serve to trickle charge the cells that may be lower than their neighbors.. these lower cells act as the weakest link in the chain. Hope this is helpful. Cheers!

thats great really appreciate your video. I have learned that these batteries can be expensive, so treat them like gold. I have also learned that after flying i pull out the heated up battery out of the drone when im done flying (just good practice) and let the battery and drone componets inside cool down, and recharge it.

Thanks helpful video, I didn't know that the balancing is done inside the lipo that makes swallowing the cost a bit easier! I also found the batt voltage meter is helpful to add to the screen when flying and try to land when cells are 3.85v each perfect for storing..

Hi, According to Mavic's user manual, the Intelligent Flight Battery after a pre-set period of time automatically discharges itself to a storage safe level (60%). Factory default time-frame is 10 days. Discharge can take up to 3 days. I hope it helps.

All what I say is that Mavic users shouldn't really worry about the battery until they fly once in every one or two months. A charged battery is ready to fly for 10 days, then it discharges itself, and safe to leave it as is.

Hi ChainsawDude I think if you have a full night to charge your batteries it doesn't make any difference if the hub charges them simultaneously, or one after the other, the total charging time will be the same, and all will be fully charged in the morning both ways. Charging them one after the other really counts when you need more batteries to be charged, _and_ you would like to get back in the sky as soon as possible. This way you just wait for the first one, and while you use it the second (and the rest) will start charging. Clever idea!

It is advisable to charge batteries to 50 % when leaving stored for weeks or months. When using the hub charger is it recommended to physically pull battery off charge hub when approx 50% and the 240 volt power socket is on , or turn the 240 volt power socket switch off and leave battery connected to charge hub when 50 % reached? then remove battery. IE - one way removes battery while still being charged, and the other turns 240 volt power off , wait a short time then remove battery from charge hub. Just wondering what is the correct way to avoid charger /battery terminal damage. Thank you, len

I've been using LiPo's and various other rechargeables since my days as a wedding photographer fifty years ago. Obviously, technology has changed many times over from those original NiCads and wet cells. My question is, that even rather recently, it has been suggested that new LiPo batteries be fully charged and discharged at least once. I realize that 30% is the default for DJI low battery warning and that you don't want to completely drain the battery (below 10%). At any rate, does any of this apply to the DJI batteries, or is this not necessary? Thanks as always for your great vids!

You know its all well and good saying what percentage to store battery's like these but are we really supposed to charge full, put it in the mavic, fly it for 20 mins then charge it again but only to 50% or whatever but hang on? How do I know? I have to keep unplugging it and putting it in the quad to find out? And what if I've put too much in like 70% I've then got to fly it some more to drain some power. THEN! Thanks so much for ALL your Mavic video's. As a newbie, your video's are easy to follow and understand, making it so much easier to learn. I still can't believe the crappy instruction manuel you get in the box ! In another video (not yours) the guy said that he keeps his batteries in the fridge ?????? Whats your thoughts on that ? Cheers from Sweden

Curious and something NO ONE MENTIONS! Everyone talks about the charge state and care for storage of the Mavic batteries. I've seen many videos discussing this. NO ONE talks about the controller. Is the controller lithium Ion also. Should it be treated the same or differently? If so then differently in what way? A Clip in clip out Mavic battery's life shortened by lack of care is expensive and a pain. But the internal battery of the controller is a far more serious problem. It either has to go back to DJI or be brought to an electronic repair. During the time it's being shipped and repaired all you'll have is your phone to fly the drone and I'd bet that a controller battery and labor and shipping would cost more than a Mavic clip in. Someone out there doing these maintenance videos should address controller maintenance care because few have the knowledge, skill or availability of parts to work internally on their own controller. I've thought about buying a Mavic since it came out. I just ordered a platinum a week ago. I have watched hundreds of videos on every subject from unboxing to year reviews and have yet to see a single video that even mentions the controller's internal battery care.

Is it better to totally discharge it or its okie to charge it even its like 60 to 90 percent, this is to make sure i have 100% when i go out

Dont run it right down, i wouldn't go lower than say 10% but 20% would be better. You can charge from any percentage.

what about that battery charger that you can buy separately for about 50 some dollars and charges all three batteries at once and the controller. Do you think that would harm the batteries in any way if used properly? I'm thinking of purchasing one.

It shouldn't but be very carefull when using non branded chargers as they could end up damaging your battereis.

Yes but as its not made by DJI if it were to damage your batteries you wont be covered by warranty. These unknown Chinese companies mass produce these chargers with little quality control.

Jun Gulgar first never buy your batteries from places Like Bangood as Lipo batteries are difficult to ship back if you have issues. It sounds like there are cell errors and you need to return them. DJI batteries only have a 6 month shelf life, if a dealer has them on their shelf for longer they need to charge them to stop the voltage dropping off and causing a charging error.
@MarionvillemodelsMultirotors
@MarionvillemodelsMultirotors 5 жыл бұрын
Jun Gulgar if you fit the battery to the drone and go to the battery menus in the top left of the app you can check the cell condition and see if there are any issues.

It’s the hi performance nature of the Lithium Polymer batterie. To get the performance they require extra attention. Lithium ion batteries are more reliable but they don’t give the same performance.

I've had a look - the price on your fly more pack for the mavic is a bit steep ,mate but it shows the goggles! u got the dji goggles in stock?maybe after the import tax from the other sellers the price might go up enough to make your fly more pack price competitive ,I dunno ,if so i'll be back(example =ordered p3 standard from amazon 500 euros and then they added 170 tax to deliver to Ireland) - I might be making the mavic purchase as early as tomorrow - i'm really tempted to get the goggles too even tho I can't really afford them right now lol -anyway I suppose main question = u got the dji goggles in stock right now?
@MarionvillemodelsMultirotors
@MarionvillemodelsMultirotors 7 жыл бұрын
My price is the RRP and as i pay VAT and duty and shipping when i receive my stock it leaves me with very little as the exchange rate for the pound is very poor against the dollar. The goggles are still pre order as i dont expect them till the end of the month.
