Hey Andre - this is a fascinating topic! I've used 3rd party batteries with Yuneec drones and had mixed results, in terms of battery longevity. I tried a couple with my old Q500 and they didn't last but a few months. I did a review on one for the Typhoon H and it was great - it lasted as long as the Yuneec brand battery and it kept working for a long time. I've neer used one with a DJI drone. DJI's batteries are much more advanced than Yuneec's . . . will the battery be recognized by the Go4 app ? What if there is a firmware update on the battery - will that update apply to the 3rd party battery? If athe battery fails and I crash, would DJI be able to tell I was flying with a 3rd party battery and maybe void my warranty? Those would have been my initial concerns. That said, the batteries you tested haive good reviews on Amazon, your drone isn't still under warranty, and how likely is it that DJI will do another firmware update on the Mavic Pro?> Had I been in your spot I would have done the same thing you did - buy them and test them out. I guess I would suggest to anyone getting these batteries is to to what you did - stick with a battery that has good reviews and test them out carefully before trusting them at 400 feet or out above water. Even if these batteries don't fly quite as long or don't last as long, you're getting them for essentially half price. If these continue to work well for you, I may just try a 3rd party battery for the Phantom 4 Pro - the DJI batteries for that drone cost $200 each!

About an hour ago I was flying my drone home from a route I have done many times before and the battery started dropping like a rock. I had to make an emergency landing and fortunately I was able to recover the drone using GPS coordinates. I've had the drone pretty much since the mavic came out so I guess the batteries are quite old now so I will replace. The other issue I am having is while the drone is very fast initially when I take off and fly away sometimes when I'm up and out it slows down a lot and sense there is a problem with the front forward sensor.

My personal opinion since DJI offered this product for sale and it does fly above the public they should offer new batteries continually for safety. I bought the DJI mavic pro Platinum and Nowhere on the box does it say you should fly this only for 2 years and you have to buy a new one and we're not going to support it anymore. They have a responsibility to supply reliable and safe batteries
@justinhamill9544 жыл бұрын
I just bought two rebuilt batteries from DJI which I suspect there are brand new. I have not flown them yetI will let you know how it goes and the next couple days.
@justinhamill9544 жыл бұрын
Those two rebuilt batteries that I bought have build dates of 5 months earlier than my original mavic pro Platinum battery. They show no charge cycles on the app and they seem to performe the same I believe that they are brand new batteries they have no charge cycles on them either they absolutely have no scratches on them they came in a unopened box . I bought them from the official DJI rebuild store/eBay store I've had no issues flying been so far . I feel more comfortable flying official DJI gear this time.

I got Mavic Pro Platinum for about 6 months now (Purchased Brand New). 11 Hours fly time in total. 4 batteries - each about 7-10 cycles. Self - discharging trigger set to 2 days. No problems so far - Each battery gives me about 24min +/- fly time. Always landing when battery is on or above 20%. Never used battery in warm weather conditions (i heard that kills them the most, outdoor temperature and sunlight but not sure about it and will check it myself now due summer time). Time will definetely come and i will have to replace these, but my friend reached about 120 charging cycles on his drone (MP1), and his batteries are just fine! (Fly time reduced by 2-3 minutes but that's natural). I think if you will look after them and do not store them fully charged for long also wait for the batteries to cool down before charging (after flying), then they will last you long time. Important bit - you should never put them into charge just after fly. Batteries should cool down a bit. On another hand if i will be pushed to buy new set of batteries - i will definetely purchase them off from DJI. I would never risk by using 3rd party propellers or batteries, that is something i would never do. Its that kind of hobby where shortcuts should be avoided at all costs. (Its like buying motorbike for 10k $ and helmet for 20$).

These batteries are notorious for failing like that, the best way to sort them out is to cut out a slot in the front disconnect the board and plug in a balance charger, that usually does it and brings it back to life.

O bought a Magic Pro Platinum. New in the box. It has been in the box 2 or 3 years! The batterys showed one lead each. The one on the Mavic charged immediately, the other 2 are dead and even after leaving them all night on the charger they did not charge. The light on the charger is orange with the 2 battery and green with the good one. I have seen many videos on DJI dead batteries and none of the tips worked. Hope DJI will replace them.

I bought my mavic pro fly more combo in the spring of 2018 and just opened it the other day (Sept. 23rd 2020). I had no idea of this battery issue and the importance of opening it sooner to maintain the batteries. I plugged the batteries in to charge... all 3 are junk from sitting. I contacted DJI and they wouldn’t do a thing for me to resolve this issue. They (DJI) wouldn’t even give me a cost to buy other batteries from them because they don’t make them anymore. So I’m basically stuck with a brand new mavic pro platinum fly more combo package that I spent between 1k-2k and can’t even use it. If they build a product like this, they need to make sure the consumer knows that these batteries will expire if not used by at least labeling the box. Good luck Carlos... sounds like we’re in the same boat regarding this issue.

I have the same battery issue. Found a way to make it still work though, I have to let the drone warm up to over 30 degrees C which takes about 15-20% of the battery. Once it is warm enough I turn off and on the drone again & it can then take off and fly with no battery warnings. So I have to let it warm up for like 10-15 mins before it can fly Update: After a few more tests with my drone it does not seem to be temperature dependent with the above 30 C aspect. I turned on the drone at 100% charge and let it drain down to 92%. it then worked just fine after booting back up.

My last 2 DJI batteries failed at 7 months with same issue, both duff after firmware update and only 10 and 12 flights on each. I’ve lost faith in the quality of the cells they use and how old the stock is when you buy them. My original battery is fine and all were maintained as per advice, which convinces me it’s a quality issue with my newer two.

Easy, just try to always land your drone before the battery goes lower than 30% and don't keep your batteries fully charged for more than a couple of days. Just set the self-discharge timer in the app to 3 days instead of 10

I have mine set to discharge in 3 days and have never gone below 30% battery. For some reason now the cells are charging unbalanced in these 2 batteries. For what it's worth [In my opinion] be very cautious purchasing "new anything" from Amazon anywhere - I purchased two different "advertised and sold as new unused" photography equipment items which proved to be used and definitely not new! Both items were purchased about circa 12 months apart and (coincidentally??) both items came from Amazon Germany! Despite having photographic evidence, Amazon said I FIRST had to pay the exorbitant fees to return these items to Germany for assessment and if they agreed they would refund! As the fees to return were almost the cost of each individual items (Circa US$100.00) - and the minor wear scuff marks on each item was not functional to the items operation, I told Amazon to 'stick it right up where the sun don't shine' and immediately cancelled my account and will never deal with Amazon again! Buyer Beware!!!! Cheers.
