We've taken 11 of the BSMX algorithms, created some lovely presets, and gotten as close as we can on the MercuryX! Not without its challenges, but sure was a lot of fun to do!

I LOVE how much you support the meris stuff. The Mercury X, in my opinion, is the best reverb on the market so seeing you emulate other big (and little) box reverbs on it just makes me even more stoked on it lol.

I’ve fallen in love with the LVX and MercuryX. I don’t know the Meris folks beyond an email or two and I don’t like the UI of the smaller boxes, but this stuff??? It’s amazing and I want to spread the love!

Being perfectly honest, I sold my Strymon timeline because i never got on with the user interface whereas I’m pretty much ok with the lvx and mercury x. I find the Meris pedals tend to draw me in whereas the Strymon tended to see me off. On top of all that though I think the Meris pedals exceed expectations sound wise too.

One way to look at it is Strymon has that “analog warmth” feel with their JFET inputs. Not really analog warmth but the feel. Meris has that hi-fi studio vibe. Totally different ways of doing it.

@@SixteenVoice they’re the goats! Have you watched yuki’s casio vocal synth video? That synth is capable of such cool sounds and I had no idea but I’m buying it soon so I can get some experimental vocoder choir stuff on some songs

If I took the Cloud/Ensemble setting for the MercuryX here and added a bunch of modulation, would that be the best way to get close to Soft Focus Reverb? Or is there a better way to achieve that sound?

Hola amigo. So now that you’ve had both for a minute, curious which one you lean towards and why? Which do you feel is easier to use/learn?

Fair question albeit a difficult one. The BSMX is really easy to quickly dial in a sound on any of the algorithms, but if you want to go deeper in that sound design you can’t. There are very few parameters to adjust in comparison to the MercX. Not a bad thing per se. It’s super easy and quick and leave it there. The MercuryX on the other hand has all the options to finely tweak the sound the way you want. To me it’s far more powerful than the BSMX and for that reason alone I lean toward the MercX for my usage. I just find myself wanting that extra control and flexibility on exactly how my reverb sounds and the BSMX just can’t do that. The BSMX is easier to use and there’s less to learn, but once you know the way the MercX and LVX operate, I find them to be super easy to use and make other pedals feel limiting in comparison

The Mercury x sounds dont seem to stay in tune as much as the bigsky. ive noticed this a couple off times, anyone else?

Medium modulation on the 78 Hall and Plate are have a slow speed and sound 'out of tune' at the extreme bottom of the sweep. There are times I like this and times I don't, but it's easy enough just to set modulation on slow and/or use other methods of modulation.

I’ve noticed this as well but it never seems to bother me. I just keep dialing until I find that sweet spot on the MercuryX for the patch I’m creating. The BSMX seems more “stable” but in a way that feels limited. Meaning Strymon doesn’t let you take it to extreme territories as they might not sound good, so like a car, it’s “governed” to stay within a certain range that’s “safe”

Bigsky can do 2 effects simultaneously. Mercury is not capable of that..

You are correct. Whether that’s a feature Meris can change on a firmware update remains to be seen. Strymon currently wins in that case

The two effect thing is ok . Only really works when one is more off an effect into a bigger sounding reverb. The X has many effects to shape the sound so didnt make a lot off difference to me. Both great pedals tho!

Yes, it can!!! You have verb at the post & all the other FX in the pre location. Actually you can have several of them on in the pre location!

@@johncruz9357 I think he meant 2 reverb algorithms can be on simultaneously.. not effects.. I have Mercury X and that doesn't bother me one bit because it has tons of parameters to make it do limitless soundscapes..
